PER AQUUM Niyama Maldives in Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives

Forty miles by seaplane from its legendary Per AQUUM sister, Niyama is a covet-worthy newcomer. You’ll find every bit of deserted island dream fodder here – tucked-away lounge areas that invite a nap by the water, overwater bungalows, infinity pools and a turquoise-heavy color palate that blends right into the horizon – but the array of indulgent activities also attracts a hip and active crowd.

Snack on fresh fruits brought to you by your private butler while floating on a daybed in your bungalow’s infinity pool. Explore the reefs on a catamaran, slicing through waves and anchoring in deep water to explore the ocean life below. Venture into the jungle for dinner, feasting on an African-South American fusion carne asada roasted on a hot rock. Then behold the most amazing place you will ever dance: the world’s first underwater bar, where the DJ’s global beats match the rhythm of the aquatic patrons outside.

Absolutely incredible experience. Simply put: I just LOVED it. Will never forget this trip. Amazing infrastructure (design and maintenance), ridiculously beautiful nature (vegetation, sea water, underwater environment and life), incredible service delivered by amazing people, etc. Special thanks to: Farish (room cleaning): for his excellent work, but more importantly his amicable company Imran (the coconut GURU): for his outstanding services, but more importantly for sharing inspirational life stories. Will miss that guy! Scarlet (our Takuru): who quickly understood our "more independent" style and provided everything we needed for a perfect staying. Well done guys! Niyama will be in my memories forever. Thanks!

This is a real Paradise! We had been there 4 times in 1 year. I think it tells everything. The location, food, service, cleanlines, employees, restaurants, bars all top! This is a dream island. Cannot imagine better. I can highly recommend to everyone who wants to go to an unforgettable journey.

Niyama is a simply must do! Spectacular experience. The client experience has been impeccably crafted to ensure guests feel like royalty. I am not one to relax easily, but Niyama is one of those places that where I have been able to have some well deserved rest. The only fault was that we did not stay longer!

We had our babymoon here at Niyama and at first we were a bit disappointed with the room after staying at some of the top rank resorts e.g. Rayavadee in Thailand and Ayana Villas in Bali. However, the direct access to the beach was nothing compared to what you get elsewhere. Maldives has its very own white sand and turquoise water which is so clear that you could see the fishies with bear eyes which was absolutely amazing. Initially we intended to upgrade to the water villa for a few nights, but the heavy rain on the second day has been quite a put-off, so we decided to save up the money and spend elsewhere. After 5 nights at the beach villa, we do think we made a good decision as you should totally go for a dip in the Indian Ocean rather than stuck in the pond size pool. The resort does offer snorkeling activities at an extra costs (USD70 pp), it was totally worth it as they took you to a spot by boat where there are living carols reefs and different varieties of sea-lives, we even saw a sea turtle swimming with us. You may also use the snorkeling gears from the resort for free, but most of the carols under the sea outside our beach villa has been dead tho you still can find a lot of fishes underneath the water. During our stay, we have arranged a two-hour photoshoot with the resort based photographer who delivered some very good quality photos and we are very happy with it. We have tried out 5 different restaurants on the resort, and the setting in the Edge blown us away. It was romantic and offered some good fine-dining options, tho it's quite pricey compared to a proper Michelin restaurants. The night buffet at Epicure was awesome and served with a wide variety of food. Tribal offered good African food, and our fish was cooked to perfection. Staffs in general are friendly. Tho I do have a small comment that the cleaners of our room should refill the items in the toilet everyday but not on demand. Otherwise, we do have a very good stay in Niyama.

I stayed at Niyama in April and had the most unbelievable time. The dolphin trip was unreal with hundreds of dolphins playing around the boat. Our villa was incredible with everything we could ever need form a fully stocked fridge with food and our favourite drinks even Niyama ice cream! Great in room entertainment which helped when we had a few hours of rain. The staff were amazing, Imran the coconut man is a very special person and so kind. During our stay we went to the underwater club, had dinner in the middle of the ocean, ate Asian food in a treehouse and had daily five course breakfasts by our own pool or looking out to sea at Blu. Just fabulous! The cocktail event was great fun and getting to know the staff more really made us feel welcome. The attention to detail with the personalised bikes and welcome messages was a lovely touch. The only very negative would be the diving was not as good as I had imagined – this is of course not the hotels fault! Having dived in Fiji perhaps maybe I had unrealistic expectations. Having said that the hammerhead shark diving trip would be a must for any keen diver!! Absolutely will be back to paradise!
