Dunton Hot Springs in Dolores, Colorado

Just across the mountain from Telluride, Dunton Hot Springs is a beautiful destination you will find difficult to ever leave. Located in a remote area of Dolores, Colorado and surrounded by the scent of Ponderosa pine, this rustic hideaway is situated near the "Four Corners" - the area where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona intersect in the wilderness. The area, formerly a gold rush town, is now an enclave of 400-plus acres surrounded by a pair of national forests in the San Juan Mountains. The area is primed for an array of activities, including hiking, snowshoeing, heli-skiing and so much more.

Dunton Hot Spring's guest cabins are the real thing - 19th-century hand-hewn log buildings once occupied by miners and meticulously restored by local and Native American craftsmen. Each is unique, yet all share incredible views, luxurious amenities and completely private settings. The resort's lounge, dining area, hot springs, bathhouse, and massage and yoga rooms are all just a short walk away. Dining features gourmet preparation and ingredients, as acclaimed chefs serve up fresh seafood and organic beef, lamb and produce.

From service to amenities to food to care to the scenic location to quitness... everything is perfect. Do note that dinners and lunch are taken in a common way (i.e. all guests around the same table) but that is actually what creates a warm feeling about the place too!

From the moment we arrived we felt like family. Dunton is a truly special place due to its natural beauty, but add to it the impeccable service, food, wine, and lovely people - it is heaven come to Earth.

My husband and I went to Dunton for our honeymoon and we couldn't have been happier with our decision. Perfect is the only way to describe it - the views are breathtaking, the staff is beyond friendly and helpful, all activities were delightful, and the other guests were a pleasure to be around. We loved to family style meals because we got to meet other great people, but still felt like we had solitude up in the mountains with each other. We wanted for nothing, and this trip was worth every penny pinched. We will be going back for sure as soon as we can! Highly recommend the dog sledding - it was a once in a lifetime experience. The spa treatments were also amazing. Our favorite spots: - the library is PERFECT if you enjoy reading by a fire with whiskey in hand. - the hotspring outside the bathhouse (also, the springs don't smell at all) -

If your looking for a private getaway with a lot of "wow" factor, this is it. Casual yet upscale feel. Private and quiet modern cabins. And an amazing hot spring invites you in or outdoors. Easy Snowshoe access. Communal meals are a chance to make friends from around the world, yet privacy is yours if you desire. Worth the price of entry as an all inclusive get away.

Perfect blend of a rustic and luxury resort. The staff was amazing, friendly, and went above and beyond. We will absolutely go back. Having group meals was an added bonus. The well house was fantastic. If you can book it, it's worth having your own hot spring in your room.
