More like a hostel Way Too Far from everything

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

It isn't the quaint olde Irish accommodations we see in the pictures; it is more like an slightly upgraded hostel that is way too far from all the sites. I hope you get a better room than we did if you choose to gamble on this place. We got a small basement room with a bathroom sink that you have to choose if you want hot or cold water b/c the hot water pours from one faucet and the cold water pours from a second separate faucet. We had no problems accessing the townhouse after following the instructions in the email. We thought we were booking a B&B with a homey Irish feel to it bc hotels feel so sterile. This place felt more like an abandoned hostel. I do not mind the "dated" furniture as others have complained. The furniture was traditional and in good order. Fair warning for those with lots of luggage: there are almost a dozen steep stairs just to get to the entrance and if youre unlucky like us, there are another flight of stairs to your room. The biggest issue we had is the location. It is SO FAR from the city center. This is a fine and safe neighborhood but there is NOTHING to see near here and very few restaurants. We do NOT mind walking but it was a 40 minute walk (3km) to the main Temple Bar where most of the sights and restaurants are. Unlike most major cities (NYC, Paris, London, etc), the public transport system is slow and not user friendly (ex: only coins accepted for bus fare or you have have the Leap card already) , which means the fastest way to get to the city center from this townhouse is a 10 minute ($11-$15) uber ride each way. Learn from my mistake - get accommodations within the city center not

Lovely stay. Cozy and comfy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I booked this and then read some reviews which worried me. But there was absolutely nothing to be concerned about. The place is in a lovely, safe and quiet part of town but there are bars and shops within a short walk. Lots of people mentioned problems with check in but I had no such issues. The code for the front door and room were emailed to me on the day. I arrived in the pouring rain and got in no problems. I didn't see anyone else at all during my stay but I had everything I needed in the room. The room was a good size with plenty of storage space. Is the decor a bit dated? Yes, but it's clean and tidy. The bed was comfy. Would definitely book again.

Disappointed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed here in April to attend a rugby match at the aviva stadium. Which is right across the road from it which is so handy. Check it was handy got codes via email..but the dirt of the room was shocking. It smelled stale when we walked in and cobwebs everywhere. The headboard on the bed was completely broken... like actually falling down... our view from the room was block by a dirty window the lace curtains in the room were full on black mold the main curtains were badly stained.. only 1 pillow per person in the room... the remains of someone else's toothpaste stains were clearly still on the holder where cleaning staff removed the glass... the rust around the support on the bath was off putting completely... all in all... just a let down.... dusty, old fashion, broken and tattered. We stayed in room 19

Filthy

Absolutely filthy. Booked with agoda but they took my review down. Shocking that rooms can be sold like this. Wet bed, mould everywhere, stank of urine. Broken window. Hadn't been cleaned in years. Ripped curtains. Stains and dirt everywhere. I genuinely can't understand how they can get away with it

Weird one, No staff on hand for check in but the cleaning staff we met were really nice, Had a problem as we wasn’t told a check in time and when we got there the room wasn’t ready until 2pm (we got there at 11). Nice location across from the stadium but abit out of the way to the centre. The heating didn’t work so the room was cold but the bath was really nice and the room itself was ok. Probably wouldn’t stay here again but it wasn’t terrible. Just okay.

I had a wonderful stay for 4 days at Butlers Town House. I enjoyed a spacious room and a delicious full Irish breakfast each morning, followed by full tea service at 3:30. I really never had to eat anything or anywhere else, and everything was included. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Last September, we found Butlers Town House in Dublin. It was like being a guest in a lovely Georgian home! We had the best sleep in ages! The Conservatory was a lovely setting for breakfast every day. We definitely recommend it.

The accommodations we received at Butlers Town House in Dublin were truly luxurious. How nice to find something that is true to its billing on the Internet. The house staff treated us so very well.
