Villa Dubrovnik was our last 'home' for our 5-week journey in Europe. It was the ideal place to stay before taking the long flights back to Australia. It was great arriving to the smiling faces of the very helpful staff. All of the staff were excellent - restaurants, bar, room, reception and spa. Villa Dubrovnik is located within easy walking distance of the old town and provides a much-needed sanctuary from the hustle and bustle. Our enduring memories will be the stunning view from our spacious and truly comfortable room. As the hotel is built into the cliff face, it seems like our room is actually floating on the majestic blue waters of the Adriatic. It was great sitting back (in bed or on the expansive balcony), watching the yachts sail past between the hotel and island. After we had arrived to the stunning view from our room, we headed up to the 'rooftop' bar for a relaxing pre-dinner drink. The view over the city walls and old town was absolutely outstanding. We had a fantastic 4 nights at Villa Dubrovnik and we will come back!

This showcase in Dubrovnik lives up to expectations, with a few wrinkles yet to be worked out, but we're sure they will be by next season. This high tech modern hotel, which hangs down a seaside cliff, is magnificent. The rooms are modern yet gracious and the staff helpful. The public rooms, inside and out, are comfortable and relaxing. The food is good and the inclusive breakfast outstanding. Other than dining outside during the day and encountering bees, which flummoxed the staff, everything was almost perfect. The almost was the hotel shuttle. Walking distance from the Old Town, the hotel also has an hourly shuttle which is useful in rain or dark. The problem? We found the shuttle never was where it was suppose to be at the specific time. This mandated use of cabs etc for which reimbursement as never offered. Oh well.

This place is worth every kuna. The hotel is beautifully designed, and perfectly located on the sea. Guests of the hotel have access to a free and private water taxi that takes you right into the old city. The rooms are spacious and it seems they all have an ocean view. The breakfast has a large variety of artistically prepared food and lunch was also superb. What stands out about this luxury, boutique property however is the service. From the moment we arrived we were greeted like special guests. We were given a tour of the property, and then instructions on how to use the various features of our room. One night my husband asked for assistance to have his pants sewn and the hotel arranged for a seamstress who had them ready the next day. Treat yourself to a real luxury experience and stay here.

In high season you pay for a room in this property 900 euros per day... so is expensive and you expect something special. However, in average for this price the value is mediocre. The positive points: beautiful views, a private boat transfer to the centre of the town (vert convenient). The not so good... the quality of the food at breakfast is very average, very far to really high quality grand hotels, electricity in rooms only works when you are in your room (and in our room most plugs were not functioning). Even with all this issues, I would probably give a higher rating, BUT we experienced a problem that I never found in good hotels for many years... many guests were smoking at breakfast... not clear if was allowed or simply permitted, but this was very uncomfortable for us.
