From the pick up from the airport in a very swanky S class booked through the hotel (do do this – worth it) to three luxurious days, to the transfer back we were treated like royalty. Just at the beginning of the season and a lovely time to visit the city as it not heaving with cruise ship passengers, this was a fabulous home for us whilst here, celebrating a birthday and the end of several trips over the last few months that constitute our honeymoon. The hotel itself is immaculate, including the staff, and whilst not all the areas open yet (the rooftop bar) the areas that were were well serviced and fabulous. Hotel was only at 20% occupancy so Upon arrival we headed to the bar on the first floor having had a tour of the facilities – wonderful 16m pool, a spa (book ahead as no appointments when we were there on the day we wanted until 6pm in the evening) and a lovely terrace to sit on and gaze out to Lokrum Island and the old city. After a refreshing local beer with some nice nibbles whilst they readied our room, we headed to our room and were not disappointed. We stayed in the Dukes Suite, a rather fabulous room with breath-taking views over both the island and the city, a Jacuzzi on the balcony, a huge living area and two bathrooms. Bigger than my first ever flat! Do look at it - it is worth the money and we would take this room again, possibly next time bringing the children as it has an interconnecting room also available. Everything is of the highest quality – the bed one of the comfiest I have ever slept in, lovely bedding and bathrobes and towels, great and substantial toiletries and decent coffee in the morning. Turn down service efficient and we had canapes delivered to our room every evening about 5pm (I think this is because we were in this room and may not apply to all but it was very nice) We headed to out to a food tour which I had previously booked with Dubrovnik Food Tours (excellent – highly recommend) and a stroll around this beautiful city. The walk into town is about 15 minutes and not too ardous but do bring comfyish shoes as the streets are cobbled and the walls walk is a lot of steps. The hotel does run a shuttle (apart from between hours of 2-6) and this is very handy for getting in in the evening. We missed the bus back each night as passed our curfew (!) but the bar very happily remained open for us. Having eaten in 4 places through the tour (the tour does 5 but I was stuffed) we decided to eat in the hotel that night, just for one course and some wine. I simply had spaghetti which was absolutely delicious and my husbands meal also very good. This was the only time we ate in the hotel bar the breakfast but next time I think I would have a full on meal here as whilst the food in town good, nothing massively memorable and the service at Villa D so good it worth hanging about for. We met another couple here on the first night and they were such fun we ended up having dinner with them every evening – the other guests are charming and reflective of such a nice place. Breakfast was also excellent and we were lucky enough to be able to eat breakfast on the terrace for one of the days – I am sure it is glorious when it is warmer. The cocktail bar fab, the pool very peaceful (we chilled out here on the Sunday morning) and we were greeted by name everywhere we went. The Croatian wine rather too nice we seemed to embibe rather a lot of it. Thank you to all at Villa Dubrovnik for a fabulous, relaxing three days and we will return very soon.

We visited only 4 days after the hotel had re-opened after the winter break and the hotel was not full. However, it was as near perfect as it could be. All facilities were first rate and the view from the rooms is stunning. We will be back!

Stayed here for about 3 nights in 2011 for a honeymoon (I cannot select this year on trip advisor) It was beautiful and I wish I could go back. The room, the view of the sea and island, the breakfast, everything was lovely. This hotel was arranged via a private tour, Secret Dalmatia, and it was our first spot in Croatia and really set the tone for the rest of the honeymoon.

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Croatia. The views are simply spectacular... both from the rooms and the deck next to the ocean... Service and spa were impeccable. The vaporetto to the Old Town is quite a nice touch. I definitely recommend this experience!

World class hotel, word class service, world class experience! Definitely one of the best hotels we stayed at in Europe. The view of Old Town was stunning and we enoyed both dinners we had at the hotel restaurant. Highly recommended!
