Hawks Cay Resort

Loved the view from the porch, very close to the water, liked the house. Whole property beautiful and well maintained. We had a good time. Hated that the house was not ready at check in time. We had to wait almost 2 hours. No explanation was given other than "room's not ready", no apology. Staff was downright rude. Construction work with caterpillar directly in front of our porch on two days.

Have not been there myself, BUT am planning a trip with my family from Alaska this Winter. My reason is many friends and I know the new Mgr Robert LaCasse, who is currently IMPROVING THE STAY,with personal great care from him and employees ,ALONG With Amenities, Fishing knowledge, The excellent choices for GREAT Ddinning, rooms,and all the fun things for families and kids. Can't wait to get there..TO APPRECIATE THE HAWKS CAY VACATION SPOT. Tom Young..

Donnie was so super nice!!! He was very accommodating with the paddle boards in the lagoon area, our boys were crazy to try it and he helped us made it happen. Such great service. Truly enjoying our stay. Thanks again, Donnie!

Check in says 4pm, but go ahead and plan on 6pm or later. Rooms not ready. Pool outside check-in completely PACKED with way too many people. Restrooms not in satisfactory condition inside lobby. Was told the room we booked would not be available until the next day, so they put us in another room. It was run down, didn’t have enough beds for the # of guests we had, and condition of the unit was just pathetic for the amount of money spent at this resort. Went back to check in and they suddenly found a room in the area we had originally booked, however it STILL was not the original room we booked - we were put in a unit with only 1 bathroom. When I tell you it was tiny - I’m a tall, slender woman and I could barely turn around in the bathroom. Everything was worn down, fan above the toilet was literally hanging by a thread and you could see it was full of dust and didn’t look safe exposed like it was. Location of the resort is good & easily accessible to most anything you’d want to do on the island. Rooms are mediocre at best. Mattress had a huge worn spot in the middle, so be prepared to sleep in a crater. Everything in the kitchen is worn, including the dining chairs - even my 10 yr old couldn’t sit in them comfortably. I will say it did have plenty of pots, pans, utensils, etc for cooking. The whole resort has the potential to be very nice, but I think it’s definitely mismanaged and not taken care of (a deep clean, a few coats of paint, and updated furniture could go a long way). Some of the units look much nicer than others and appear to be renovated, but it’s pure luck of the draw apparently to get one of those. For reference we booked a Premium 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath villa that promised to be “newly renovated”. That is definitely not what we got. We did not feel like we got value for the money we paid. If you’re a group of guys just looking for a place to crash while out fishing, then this would be right up your alley. But if you’re a family or couple looking for a higher end resort, go to Isla Bella instead. Stayed at Isla Bella last year & it was definitely worth the money (and a premium experience) vs this place.

Hawks Cay is a unique resort that met many of our expectations, but several service and billing issues left us with a disappointing overall impression. We did not receive housekeeping for the first two days of our stay. When our room was finally cleaned, we were left without any towels, which was frustrating. We booked our vacation through Costco, and our package included the daily resort fee and parking. However, when I reviewed our invoice midway through our stay, we had been charged for both, and there was even a valet parking charge that we never incurred. The front desk removed the incorrect charges, but when I checked our bill again on checkout day, all of the fees had reappeared. It took about an hour of our vacation to get everything corrected. The Hawks Cay website also advertises a 20% military/first responder discount at the on-site restaurants. I requested the discount several times but was met with confusion by the restaurant staff. I understand that mistakes can happen, but after reading other reviews, these billing issues appear to be a recurring problem at Hawks Cay. While we enjoyed many aspects of the resort, the repeated billing errors and inconsistent service diminished what could have been an excellent vacation.
