Short and sweet. It has been about 7 years since i went to Hawks Cay but again, it is a vacation i remember perfectly. The staff was extremely helpful. The resort grounds and food was soooo good. The pools were well kept and the lagoon was alot of fun to swim in. The room was one of my favorites to this day. Outside of the resort was an experience in itself. Lots of excursions and restaurants to visit. Must visit key west while you are here.

I just booked a sea stone massage, I did not spend the night there. I found that the spa amenities were a bit dated...the massage was OK. 50 minutes ended up being closer to 40minutes which is a bit annoying....

Summer is not quite officially over but the kids are back to school. In the meantime I'm still trying to catch up with all of our summer travels. Ā The first trip we took right after the kids were finished with school was down to the Florida Keys. There aren't a lot of hotels with a swimmable beach in the keys, but fortunately we found Hawks Cay ResortĀ on Duck Key. Hawks Cay has their own ocean fed saltwater lagoon. It is large enough for kayaks and snorkeling and is full of aquatic life. We spent a lot of time here catching little fish and crabs. There are a couple of outdoor grills nearby and food or drinks can be ordered from the wait staff who make the rounds through the lounge chairs. We didn't stay in the resort building itself, instead we rented a two bedroom villa that was equipped with a kitchen, dining table, and a small area with a couch and television. While my wife and I enjoyed making our own breakfasts in the mornings and having extra space, I think the kids favorite thing were the iguanas that were living in the trees near our back porch. In addition to the lagoon, there are five pools scattered on the resort grounds. We didn't use the adult only tranquility pool but spent considerable time at the kid's pirate ship pool, the resort pool near the lagoon, and the sunset pool that was closest to our villa. And if that wasn't enough there are so many family activities planned throughout the day. We competed in a scavenger hunt and also spent a lot of time on the turf soccer field. There is also a miniature golf course, plenty of tennis courts, and a full service marina. There is so much to do that you may not even leave the resort area. If you do it is at least 15 minutes drive to any other restaurants or attractions. We had such an incredible stay at Hawks Cay and I definitely think we will visit again in the future.

We go every year, although I let them know is my husband bday celebration, is like I didn't say it. It will be nice if you find a card saying thank you for staying with us, happy birthday! The room was nice and clean, beautiful view. The Adult pool needs cleaning, mildew visible, pool cabanas can be all rented if they were less expensive, on Sunday only 1 out of 6 cabanas was rented. Anglers restaurant is ok, pricey for the sports restaurant environment. Friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Lovely celebration with great fireworks on Sunday, labor day weekend.

We just returned from a 3-day stay over Labor Day. We've stayed at Hawk's Cay before and were excited to return. Unfortunately, it wasn't what we were hoping for. When we arrived, we felt like the valets hovered. We were trying to organize our stuff while we took it out, but we felt rushed. When we checked in, we felt like the front desk staff was overly helpful to the point that they were condescending. She actually tried to hand me the pen to sign on the credit card screen. In addition, I wasn't happy that they wanted to put a $200/day hold on my credit card for incidentals. For a 3-day weekend, that would have been $600! I also think the resort fee is incredibly high at $39/day. We stayed in a King room in the main building. The room was nice, although the bed wasn't exceptionally comfortable. I prefer a bathtub to relax after a long day in the hot sun, but this is one of those hotels which has switched to showers only. While not a negative, I thought it was weird that the hottest setting on the shower was actually in the middle. By this,I mean that far left was cold and far right was tepid, but the middle was hot. Very odd. The first full day, we left around 9 at the latest. When we returned just before 3, the maid was just getting to our room. Fortunately, this was not the case on day 2. We went to dinner at the Angler and Ale on the evening of the first full day. The wait was thankfully shorter than we anticipated. We walked by the docks while we waited. It was lovely to see the snapper and tarpon and other fish in the water. It wasn't lovely that one boat was blasting music with the n word and another boat was smoking pot. I'll save the review of the restaurant for that part of TripAdvisor. What I will say is that we had a very long wait for a cart to take us back to the hotel. When we returned to the hotel, I was hoping to find a place to pick up a quick dessert (I knew it would melt from the restaurant to the hotel and I wasn't ready to eat at the restaurant). The shop was already closed. My only options were Alma (which I wasn't dressed appropriately for) or room service with a $4.00 surcharge and 18% gratuity. Yeah, I'll pass on the $15 slice of cake. Day 2 was mostly better. I will agree with another poster that the crowds were larger than I have ever seen. They were also celebrating heroes (think military and police/EMTs), but I'm not sure why they chose Labor Day weekend and not Memorial Day or Veterans Day. There was a 5K run and fireworks. The fireworks were at 10 pm and VERY loud because they were right over the pool area. They ask you to wear a pink wristband (similar to the LiveStrong bands) around the hotel so that they know you are a guest and may partake of the activities. That's fine if you are using the pool, but I didn't wear mine at any other time because I felt like it was annoying. We checked out on Monday. We called down to valet to have our vehicle ready so that we could leave quickly. When we arrived, it wasn't there yet. I'm not sure if there was a backlog or if it just wasn't a priority to them. Regardless, there was no explanation. I may sound like a diva, but compare this property at over $200/night to a moderate Disney World property at the same price range. While some things were better (like the lovely tile in the bathroom and the size of the room), the service was not. I love this location because it's right between Marathon and Islamorada, but I think we'll just stay in Islamorada next time.
