Myself & hubby booked into this so called 5 star hotel.....frosty receptionist, got a room and booked in for dinner , the first room had blood on the bed sheets , i complained and we were allocated the room next door , this room had make up on the pillow , we then paid over ÂŁ100 for 2 steaks which were butterflied ( which we didn't request ) so it cooked quicker !! Next morning speaking to someone about our visit, which cost a lot of money for what we actually got , we were offered 20% off a lunch ....what an absolute joke of a hotel hung our breakfast order on our door & it was still there next morning outside ...NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

This Hotel has a 5 star location, but is a 3 or 4 star hotel at best. It is hard to pinpoint exactly why we were were left feeling a little disappointed, but that kind of says it all. Let's start with breakfast... Fruit juice dispensers where the tap cannot be operated easily with one hand (think about it, your other hand has to hold the glass). Coffee served by staff from containers that gush in a rush, and spill as a consequence. You then have to point the spill out and all you get is a new saucer and are left with a dripping cup. They then forget to come and take your order until asked. Then finally when your deep fried omelette arrives, they serve it and seem happy to leave empty handed rather than think ahead and take your empty cereal/fruit bowls/plastic yoghurt containers away, unless asked. Poor service, but easily resolved if a manager who understood service was keeping an eye on things. Lunch - we can recommend The Boat House. Quite good, some good staff, but be prepared to explain things several times and don't be surprised if part of your order is missed... Overall, we were expecting a really great time, but ended up wishing we had stayed at a proper 5 Star hotel, which the Cameron house is not. The one staff member who we would really rate for their attitude and professionalism was the lady who we dealt with when we checked out, she was from Iran and had the best attitude out of all the staff we met, a real compliment to the hotel.

I was a guest at the hotel the night of fire. The staff were just fantastic dealing with residents at the boathouse, rushing out to get nappy’s and essentials for my baby and others and keeping us warm, fed and updated. I could not fault how they have managed getting our belongings back, refunds, expenses etc. 5 star for this HOWEVER Our first visit to hotel. Unfortunately the service in the bar grill was shockingly bad for Sunday lunch. 1.5 hrs for starter to arrive, we arrived in restaurant at 1.15pm and 3 hrs later before we left. We had a 1 year old with us and keeping entertained for that long was just ridiculous. We complained several times. Totally unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. I also had to ask 3 times for cot to be brought to room. Housekeeping finally came just before 7pm. Also champagne was ordered for room, again had to chase. Took the surprise out of it for my husband. I am thankful for the speedy refund and we had a fantastic weekend at Fairmont in St. Andrews weekend past. Highly recommend. We are blessed that we are safe and it was very upsetting and traumatic to witness the tragic events unfold in front of us. Sending my love to Simon and Richards family and friends. RIP

This is simply a great hotel with greater people. Despite recent tragic events at the hotel we as a family who visit very often would simply like to offer our heartfelt support to the wonderful staff and management of this beautiful and unique resort, Our prayers and most heartfelt wishes go to the families involved. Your well being is very very upmost in our thoughts. Our praise and complete admiration go to the emergency services who acted with such courage and bravery. When they give out awards to hapless c list celebrities we always have you in mind. All the best. A,G,C,M &M

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here in December and both can’t recommend the hotel highly enough. The grounds are simply stunning and you should definitely make time to walk around if you can. The view of the loch from our room was amazing! Breakfast was lovely with ample choice and all staff we encountered were second to none. We will make a point of returning in the future when the hotel reopens.
