Reviews for Cameron House on Loch Lomond

Not the place for a quick pint.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

The Tavern. I live only a walk away from Cameron House and I thought I'd try The Tavern to see if could be my new 'local pub'. £8 for a pint of Peroni. £8.50 for a pint of Jubel. Okay, it's a high end establishment (so they market it as) but when you're waiting 10 minutes just to get served for a simple pint, that is not acceptable. I went there hoping to get some food also. £22 for a burger and chips. Again, I know it's not McDonalds but after the lack of service at the bar, I didn't want to chance waiting on service at a table. Sadly, The Tavern will not be my new local. If you have a spare hour to kill and want one pint, this place is fine. If you want a few pints, want them quickly and fancy saving a few quid, get yourself to Balloch or head to Helensburgh. You'll make time up on faster service and will recover your taxi fare if you have a good scoop full. I suppose once you do manage to get the attention of the bar person, you could get a few drinks in, stick up like a wee squirrel. Sorry Cameron House. You can't charge £8 a pint, £22 for a burger, have shocking service and call yourself a 5 star resort. Service first. The rest will fall in to place.

A truly memorable stay in an exceptional hotel in beautiful surroundings

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

We chose to stay at Cameron House hotel to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and booked a room in the Auld House, as 25 years ago, we stayed in one of the suites after our wedding, so this hotel is special to us. We brought along our wee Sheltie puppy. We have not stayed in the hotel since the major renovations and was very much looking forward to seeing how the hotel looked after all these years. We arrived by car and from the moment we stepped out, everything was taken care of. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and valet parked the car. The main lobby of the hotel was very impressive and more open and the reception staff were excellent. Everyone was so friendly to our puppy as well. We had a room on the lower ground floor. It was luxurious, well presented but had limited view outside. After speaking to Laura at reception, we were upgraded to a 1st floor suite. The room was beautiful with stunning views of the loch and the grounds. I am sure we were not far from our original suite based on the views we had. The furnishings were luxurious but very comfortable. Seating was placed to maximise the view. The bathroom was superb with a lovely freestanding bath. We ate at La Vista (with our dog). Welcoming staff, plenty of room to have a drink before being shown to our table. The food was very good especially the seafood. Next day, breakfast was taken in our room and was delivered by David from the Room Service team. He was professional, friendly and waived the service charge when he knew we were celebrating our special occasion. This was a truly five star experience in every sense. We are so grateful to Laura and the whole team for making this stay so memorable. What stood out to us was the exceptional service and every member of staff we met was friendly, attentive and genuinely committed to ensuring our stay was exceptional. We would not hesitate to return and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious stay in a fantastic location...and bring your dog!

Luxury on Loch Lomond

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed only one night at Cameron House, but it was a very special experience. The hotel is right on the shore of Loch Lomond, in a very peaceful location. Although parts of the hotel are historic, the amenities are quite modern. There are elevators throughout, the rooms are very sound-proof, and the beds are very comfortable. For those with limited mobility, some of the halls leading to the rooms are quite long, and that could be an issue. Service was generally quite good although we reported that our heated towel rack would not warm up and the promised maintenance person never arrived. The bathroom in our suite was large, with both a shower and a tub. There was plenty of space around the sink for all your necessities. It was a great place for a special-occasion visit.

Exceptional performance

Fantastic from start to finish. Great staff with one exceptional employee Rachel, a great team player and exceptional soft skills in communication. Totally professional. Rachel working in the restaurant she went above and beyond to assist me and my wife. An employee to be proud of.

Not 5 Star

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

If you position yourself as a five star hotel, and charge the prices that this hotel charges, then everything needs to be of a five star standard. Sadly, while many things about this hotel are great, there were too many details that just weren't up to standard. A real shame because they clearly want to be something that they're not quite delivering.
