Cameron House on Loch Lomond

Being someone who prefers to speak with a human rather than just book online, I called the hotel to enquire about making a reservation. I was given many room options with differing prices and had to ask for them to be repeated whilst I noted them down. I could sense some frustration at this however I was completely unprepared for what happened next. A comment was made that I clearly was not meant to hear referring to me in the most vulgar language imaginable. Completely taken aback, I ended the call without booking. If this is the attitude to potential guests, I would absolutely not want to stay at Cameron House!

We spent three nights here and had a spectacular time. the food and drinks were on point, and the location was stunning. The best part of this hotel was the service. The airline had lost our luggage and one suitcase ended up being delivered after we had departed the hotel and country. The hospitality manager (CJ) maintained constant contact with us and enabled the pick up of our suitcase. Definitely above and beyond expectations.

Oh what a lovely week we had!! Such awesome service, attention to detail and we felt really cared for. Thank you! Great family room and the pool was so welcome after a long day out! All the restaurants were fantastic although the boat house was our favourite. Nothing compares to breakfast though!!! We will be back.

We are regulars at Cameron Club Lodges. We come each May and August and have done for 15 years, so we know the resort very well. This review relates to La Vista, formerly The Boathouse. It is dreadful in every respect. The building and interior were once beautifully designed with a relaxed, gracious New England feel. The food was great and the service was excellent, but that was a decade ago. Since then it has gradually gone down market, despite its amazing location. We went for dinner this week. There was nothing stylish or attractive about the place, the service was poor, the menu was limited and even then some things were unavailable, empty tables went uncleared and the pizza was the only decent thing on the menu. Our bill included another table’s order as well as our own. Not to mention the underpants left in an unplanted pot at the entrance. Hasta La Vista, baby. We won’t be back.

Pre paid hotel before arrival, they then decided to charge me again on departure despite reception telling me there was nothing going on my card, when I realised they had double charged me I’m now currently jumping through hoops to get my money back, crazy way to treat a regular customer, 2 days of phone calls and emails, broken promises of return calls and I’m still waiting on a refund
