Not great - this wasn't what a castle should feel like.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 16 hours ago

I will give it 3 stars instead of 2 because my kids (5 and 7 yo) had a great time. However, my husband and I were super disappointed, honestly and wish we'd spent more time elsewhere in Scotland. The breakfast buffet was very nice / great selection but the rest of the food was not great. We went to La Vista, which was recommended as a family friendly restaurant on site. The servers seemed to forget we were there, it took forever, and the food was mediocre to bad. Multiple locals we met spontaneously recommended we eat outside the resort. The concierge suggested to us that we do their "island tour" adventure. We booked this literally months in advance for 11am on our full day at the castle. The front desk and concierge told us where to meet the boat, and to be there 15 minutes ahead. We waited and waited and the boat finally showed up at 11:20. Apparently they told us to go to the wrong dock. The boat operator was NOT good with children. I understand not everyone loves kids, but he was fully rude to my 7 year old when he asked a clarifying question about a map of the island. He couldnt even muster the energy to talk about the Loch Ness monster to my 5 year old, or to be polite when i asked about hte inconvenience of living on an island. We were super turned off. He also underestimated significantly how long it would take us to hike the island so the whole thing took forever and frankly the island itself was almost totally uninteresting. A different concierge told my husband he'd call us to set up a whiskey tasting, and just never did so. The menus at the "fancy" whisky bar were wrinkled from many uses and inaccurate about the whiskeys the bar actually had in stock. Just print fresh and updated paper menus, man. It's a castle. At checkout time, nobody helped us with our bags. My kids loved getting stickers around the resort and loved the waterslide at the indoor pool. If it weren't for that, I'd give this place a hard pass. It didnt feel like a castle.

Anniversary celebration was just Wonderful.

Just come back from a wonderful stay at Cameron House where my wife and I celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary. A beautiful hotel in a fantastic setting along the banks of Loch Lomond. Every member of staff we saw were so welcoming, just saying hello was so nice or the brief chat or two, especially with the lads on the door they'll even park your car for you when you arrive. A great golf course, the Carrick and the Spa are located on another site about 10 mins away, which the hotel will shuttle you to and from. We had a Loch view room in the new part of the hotel which was great. A bottle of Champagne and a card awaited us. Food was excellent, both for breakfast and in the Cameron grill. A special shout to a few people who really made our stay wonderful. Pierre, was wonderful and who sorted a few things out for us before we arrived which we were truly grateful for. Laura on reception was wonderful who really sorted out a few issues for us once there. Kyle, who served us both nights in the Cameron grill was wonderful too. Overall, a fabulous Anniversary stay was had for us both. We will certainly return.

Breathtakingly Beautiful

My family and I stayed for a few days in August 2026. A truly fantastic hotel in i think one of the best settings in the world. So peaceful. The gym and swimming pool was amazing. The restaurants and bars excellent. All the staff couldn’t be more helpful - but special shout out to the swimming pool staff, the bar staff in the Greats Scots bar. I would highly recommend a visit to this hotel - breathtakingly beautiful.

Family Retreat after a big Family Wedding!

As everyone before us has said - this is a beautiful hotel. Location, service, style and ambiance Heather and Laura on the front reception desk were lovely welcoming faces with a lilting Scottish accent. From there forward you let Cameron House take over and enjoy the facilities. Even on some of the rainiest days in a hot August we found lots to do. Kayaking. Pool. Playing cards and just nice walks. We ate in three of the restaurants and all were good. The breakfast buffet was exceptional. We were three generations getting a few days away together and this was the perfect hotel to make that all happen.

**Five Stars for the Setting, Service, and Staff**

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

Cameron House earns five out of five from us. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Every employee we encountered was genuinely friendly and helpful. Many stopped without prompting to ask whether we needed anything or simply how our stay was going. It never felt rehearsed or transactional. Christopher, Pip, David Proctor, George, and Duncan were particular standouts, but the standard of service was evident across the entire property. Our room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The in-room Nespresso machine was a welcome touch, and there were enough USB charging points to keep our collection of modern necessities powered. A more thorough introduction to the room’s amenities and systems would be helpful. Many American visitors will be unfamiliar with the energy-saving system that requires inserting the room key card into a wall slot to activate the electricity. It makes perfect sense once explained, but it can be confusing at first. Our only cleanliness concern was outside. Previous guests had tossed a large number of cigarette butts over the balcony railing onto the stone-lined wall below. Apparently, the scenery was breathtaking enough to make certain smokers forget how ashtrays work. This area deserves more frequent inspection. The location almost defies description. Everywhere you look, across Loch Lomond, the grounds, or the surrounding hills, is another postcard. The estate is iconic, historic, and breathtaking. The food was equally impressive. From the breakfast buffet to every restaurant meal and the dining provided during our event, the quality and presentation were consistently exceptional. Cameron House combines a magnificent setting with excellent food and truly memorable hospitality. The property is special, but the people are what elevated our stay from very good to extraordinary.
