Nice location, very poor customer experiences

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

I booked this hotel for a stay for my husband’s birthday, thinking the price would be worth the experience. I was wrong. Pre-arrival was promising from the reservations team wanting my partners name to personalise the stay and I also booked a room upgrade and some cupcakes for the room on arrival. We took our dog and to be honest I he had a better time than we did. The upgraded room 304 with balcony was very nice I must admit. With a nice view of the loch. There was a nice bed, bowls and treats for my dog. He was happy. However, that is where it ended for us. There was not any mention of my husband’s birthday, even the most basic hotels can leave a nice postcard in the room to say happy birthday for free. The cupcakes never arrived, even after calling reception they seemed not interested and I just said remove them from my bill. However no other goodwill gesture arrived. Dinner at La Vista average at best, service was pretty average felt like any other mass market family restaurant. Fair enough with the dog we had limited choice of either there or the tavern for food. On checkout the hotel tried to charge me for cupcakes I didn’t get, tried to tell me they were a food service charge. Then tried to charge me twice for a room upgrade. That the needed a manager to remove charges. This is not a 5* hotel, it may look good but they don’t care about customer experience. Well not ours anyway. I wouldn’t return based on this stay, it fell way short of my expectations which is a shame.

Amazing afternoon tea

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We were given a voucher for our anniversary. We had never been before and were really impressed with the service, thank you Tricia, you were so lovely and attentive. The afternoon tea was one of the best we have ever had, we were so impressed we're going to buy another voucher for our sister in laws big birthday. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon with great food and lovely views

Not 5 star

Our second stay at the hotel and a completely different experience. The reception was extremely busy and we waited for 20 minutes to check in. We booked connecting rooms - a double and a twin. The rooms we were allocated were not connecting and 2 doubles. One had an accessible bathroom that we didn’t request and far from the luxury bathroom in the room description. The staff on reception could not have cared less. Terrible experience and we will not return.

Mini Moon Recharge

We stayed at Cameron House for a few nights after getting married in Biggar. We wanted somewhere to just relax and recover after the craziness of planning and hosting a Wedding! We were blown away with the hospitality of the staff at Cameron House. We were checked in by Heather and shown to our Suite by CJ, both of whom checked in on us regularly throughout our stay to see that we had what we needed and to see if we needed help. On our first morning going down to breakfast CJ immediately greeted us with it’s the Knights and got us a fabulous seat by the window. We were both grinning from ear to ear. There was also a note on our booking so wherever we went on the property we were congratulated and even got a few free glasses of Champagne. We felt so special. We utilised many of the offerings at Cameron House. We ordered room service, ate at laVista, the Cameron Grill and at the Tavern. We had drinks at the Great Scots bar and rode the Celtic Warrior. We paddle boarded on the Loch under the watchful eye of a tender boat and we visited both the leisure/ fitness centre and the spa. What we found is that what makes this place so special is the staff! Yes the facilities were great and the food lovely but the staff are second to none. Every interaction was friendly, welcoming and helpful. The only fault we found was that while enjoying a lovely Swedish massage around 1pm in our lovely couples suite at the SPA it was decided this would be a good time to strim the grass. This did take us out of the moment and activated my hayfever which was a real shame. In all reality our overall experience was fantastic and we understand that well manicured lawns need to be manicured (perhaps before the spa opens or after it closes though). We cannot thank you all enough for making our Mini Moon so special and we hope to visit again in the future The Knights

Not the place for a quick pint.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The Tavern. I live only a walk away from Cameron House and I thought I'd try The Tavern to see if could be my new 'local pub'. £8 for a pint of Peroni. £8.50 for a pint of Jubel. Okay, it's a high end establishment (so they market it as) but when you're waiting 10 minutes just to get served for a simple pint, that is not acceptable. I went there hoping to get some food also. £22 for a burger and chips. Again, I know it's not McDonalds but after the lack of service at the bar, I didn't want to chance waiting on service at a table. Sadly, The Tavern will not be my new local. If you have a spare hour to kill and want one pint, this place is fine. If you want a few pints, want them quickly and fancy saving a few quid, get yourself to Balloch or head to Helensburgh. You'll make time up on faster service and will recover your taxi fare if you have a good scoop full. I suppose once you do manage to get the attention of the bar person, you could get a few drinks in, stick up like a wee squirrel. Sorry Cameron House. You can't charge £8 a pint, £22 for a burger, have shocking service and call yourself a 5 star resort. Service first. The rest will fall in to place.
