Reviews for Cameron House on Loch Lomond

**Five Stars for the Setting, Service, and Staff**

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 18 hours ago

Cameron House earns five out of five from us. The hospitality throughout our stay was exceptional. Every employee we encountered was genuinely friendly and helpful. Many stopped without prompting to ask whether we needed anything or simply how our stay was going. It never felt rehearsed or transactional. Christopher, Pip, David Proctor, George, and Duncan were particular standouts, but the standard of service was evident across the entire property. Our room was very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The in-room Nespresso machine was a welcome touch, and there were enough USB charging points to keep our collection of modern necessities powered. A more thorough introduction to the room’s amenities and systems would be helpful. Many American visitors will be unfamiliar with the energy-saving system that requires inserting the room key card into a wall slot to activate the electricity. It makes perfect sense once explained, but it can be confusing at first. Our only cleanliness concern was outside. Previous guests had tossed a large number of cigarette butts over the balcony railing onto the stone-lined wall below. Apparently, the scenery was breathtaking enough to make certain smokers forget how ashtrays work. This area deserves more frequent inspection. The location almost defies description. Everywhere you look, across Loch Lomond, the grounds, or the surrounding hills, is another postcard. The estate is iconic, historic, and breathtaking. The food was equally impressive. From the breakfast buffet to every restaurant meal and the dining provided during our event, the quality and presentation were consistently exceptional. Cameron House combines a magnificent setting with excellent food and truly memorable hospitality. The property is special, but the people are what elevated our stay from very good to extraordinary.

Best hotel we have ever stayed in!

This hotel was amazing right from the off, valet parking, help with the dogs kids and luggage. Check in to a loch view room, well recommend. Kids enjoyed the pool and flume and local area. Staff were great too, especially the lovely lady who always wore funky bright suits, she always helped us with ideas where to walk and was so friendly. Only thing I would want to improve is the resturant menus are sparse for dinner choices for kids, and same for adults. I am gluten and dairy free and really struggled to eat. Breakfast however was amazing and well catered for.

Disappointing

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

It’s really a 3.5, but 4 is classed as very good and I don’t think it was very good. It should have been but there were several small things that let them down and certainly not what you expect at a 5 start location. 1. On arrival late evening, the gentleman at the front door not helping us with our cases from the taxi up the steps and in to the hotel. He stood and watched us. 2. By no means filthy, but there always seemed to be bits of popcorn / paper in the hallway where the cinema is. 3. No water in the room upon arrival. 4. Cold bacon at the buffet breakfast and I would say that the general quality of all the products wasn’t great. The square sausage, black pudding, normal sausages etc were not as good as I can get in the local butcher. 5 walking through the great bar to be told that we couldn’t go down to the raven bar to be sent back out and told we can’t use it as a short cut. Okay - maybe lock the door then if you aren’t open or put up a sign. On the plus side, our bed was very comfy, room temp was great, the setting is fantastic, gentlemen working the front door during the day were excellent. Have stayed here 3 times, this was the only time I didn’t feel any wow. Nothing was a disaster, but there was enough little things to register and question their 5 star rating.

Wonderful trip to CH. A beautiful champagne cruise on Loch Lomond. Ollie was a wonderful host…with lots of information and stories about such a stunning part of the world. Collette was our skipper and kept the journey smooth and scenic.

Unsafe, Loud, and Unreliable

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

The hotel itself is absolutely lovely and on an incredible piece of property right on the loch. The staff is incredible, Brianna especially is so helpful and wonderful, she absolutely made the stay better than it would have been. HOWEVER, the stay was honestly ruined by the sheer amount of CHILDREN AND DOGS throughout the ENTIRE property (and major safety issues.) There are screaming kids at breakfast, lunch, dinner, there is absolutely no escape, even on the most quiet parts of the property, there is NO PEACE. Then you finally get back to your room, and there are barking dogs that are left in all the rooms to go crazy all day and all night. Not to mention when I called the front desk, the phone rang for 5-10 minutes with NO ANSWER. (This happened multiple times throughout the stay) If you want ANY peace, quiet, and relaxation, THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU! I wanted to add that an extremely concerning incident happening on the morning I checked out of the hotel. I had the Do Not Disturb on the door and had just gotten the shower and was fully naked, when a maintenance worker used their keycard to come into my hotel room COMPLETELY unannounced. No knock, no greeting, no announcement of who he was, just walked right into my room with me NAKED, and left once I screamed at the top of my lungs. I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels throughout my life and I have never experienced anything like this before. It was deeply traumatising as a single woman traveling alone. The managers came to my room and apologized, but didn’t make up for the incident in ANY WAY. I just do not feel that this hotel is under any sort of reasonable control. It’s extremely disorganised and chaotic. Can’t see myself coming back for any reason. I don’t want to pay hundreds of pounds to feel unsafe, violated, and disturbed by screaming kids and barking dogs 24/7. In reading the reviews over the last year, it seems like the hotel has A LOT of ongoing issues. And where these issues used to be addressed by staff and management, it’s VERY obvious that since the property has come under new ownership in May, things have just completely plummeted EVEN MORE. Cutting corners to sacrifice guest safety and comfort!
