Reviews for Cameron House on Loch Lomond

We had an excellent stay… no notes

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights a few weeks back as part of a bigger road trip to Scotland. I think the hotel presents very high levels of service and standards for what you pay which I was positively surprised about. The location is fantastic, it’s a really lovely scenic hotel with plenty to do and I would reccomend walking around the loch and visiting Loch Lomond shooting school to shoot some clays. We visited La Vista one evening and this was a lovely meal, the other nights we ventured out. The bars in the hotel are good and Ewan in the Scots bar was very knowledgeable about whisky and had superb customer service. Additionally Nicola who worked on the breakfast service was a dime and her levels of customer service are some of the best I’ve ever seen quite frankly, she is a credit to your organisation. Would highly recommend and we will be back :)

Disappointed given rating. Beware

I’m a resort member for over ten years principally using golf courses and restaurants While there were service problems some years ago eg getting booked and telephone answered and clearly poor staff leading to a prosecution , these issues have resumed again in July . Getting intelligible responses from staff is almost impossible and you need to ask for a manager. A receptionist Katie hung up after promising to try and put me through to golf shop team after i’d tried them nearly 20 times . I’ve explained this to duty manager Rebecca but still getting nonsense emails from Golf Team ( who avoid giving their names)!. Paying a membership fee when you cannot use facilities seems very unfair !! While the drainage is poor in places and turf patchy leading to bad lies on Carrick Course it is a scenic setting

Your safety compromised!

We booked 2 nights at the Cameron House hotel we paid £1100 with an additional £100 added on because we had a dog. So £1200 in total. Room was perfectly nice, clean and comfortable with a balcony overlooking part of the Loch. The room had a mini bar that surprising only had a 2 bottles of water placed inside. If you wanted your mini bar stocked you had to ask which is slightly bizarre for a 5* hotel. Nothing additional placed the room such as Scottish biscuits or tablet to remind you that you’re in one of Scotland’s supposed exclusive hotels just a few shop bought biscuits and some pods of coffee. Staff perfectly nice as they should be and breakfast was really nice with menu options available as well as buffet items, all cooked and presented well. Now comes my most concerning thing about this hotel!! If you think that that it’s only guests that are allowed on-site and allowed to use the hotel then you couldn’t be anymore wrong. Everyone that decides to visits can and I mean anyone!!! The hotel allows people to use bars restaurants, the grass areas the little beaches dotted around where people brought their own alcohol and got drunk on the banks, left all their rubbish and disappeared. Once these people are inside these bars/restaurants they are able to access ANY part of the hotel including the accommodation areas. There is no key card needed to access lifts. NOTHING! They can follow other guests back to their rooms unchallenged because it’s an open door policy they operate. Security is null and void and for this reason this hotel does not look after its guests in the way it should. Due to them not knowing who the hell is in the hotel it’s a serious lack of failure in a duty of care. Another thing that people might be interested to know but if you think you are coming to Loch Lomond and Cameron House hotel for peace and tranquility, then think again. From morning till night dozens of noisy jet skis being operated by selfish lowlifes scream about at break neck speeds right next door at Duck Bay marina, disrupting any peace you might have had. It’s like staying next to a racetrack. Would I stay again, not a chance!! The lack of security and the care by the hotel screams NO! Do yourself a favour and book somewhere where the guest comes first and not any Tom, Dick and Harry. It’s a hotel that charges maximum money but really other than the location is nothing more than an average place.

Dinner at The Clubhouse

We dined at The Clubhouse and were well attended to by Leila, who was delightful and made us feel at home. She was also able to explain items on the menu. The steak pie was excellent. Thanks Leila.

Lovely place in a nice setting!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The staff were excellent. We had to move rooms on the first night as there were multiple issues with ours, the ironing board was brown and smelt of other body odour, bathrooms tiles were cracked and shower dripping. It wasn’t a £550 a night room. After the move the room was clean and had everything we needed. There’s so many options for bars, restaurants and things to do, it’s a beautiful setting. A lovely trip and breakfast was fabulous, freshly made to order eggs, lovely.
