We received this stay as a wedding gift, place was amazing location, our room was a bit dusty but very comfy bed, however I think they should review cancellation policy as I was told we couldn't cancel and lose our stay and I ended up in a&e for 4 and half hours on way to hotel

The Carrick Lodge we have now owned for about 8 years+ ,it's still in immaculate condition and now feels like our second home, the location is amazing, however the spa could be doing with a bit of tlc as ceiling in downstairs pool area showing signs of wear and tear and fixture and fittings needing renewed ,staff are always lovely .

Terrible service (aside from doormen), refurbishments in hotel that are not mentioned on website, 20m + queues for breakfast for worst 5 * buffet I have experienced (cold food, poor service). Rude & inconsiderate staff, sub-standard food quality at Grill and average wait of 15m for a drink in bar. We were invited back by Director to experience a free weekend following a similar chain of events last year and needless to say had we have been spaying there would have been a serious complaint. I have no faith in CH and its unfortunate that due to location this hotel can get away with charging guests 5* prices and for a below 3* experience. I would not recommend this hotel and would strongly urge you not to stay, it's not worth the disappointment that is guaranteed.

Great spa and dining experience let down by the inconsistency between the rooms we were allocated. Two club rooms.reserved. Twin room was huge (beds together like double) with large wet room and bath whilst double, although nice was much smaller with shower wet room only. Shame our teenage kids were booked into twin on my husbands special birthday! Had I known, I would have booked two twins.

I stayed at Cameron House as a birthday treat, to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. I choose Cameron House due to its location and reputation and I'm saddened that it didn't meet the high standards of other 5 star establishments. It certainly wasnt the birthday traet I'd imagined. On arrival our room wasn't ready and we were asked to wait in the hotel bar, our allocated room had a beautiful loch view, but the bathroom had a musty smell and grubby in areas. The room had tea and coffee making facilities, however the hotel failed to provide biscuits, which are standard even in a Travelodge. We were booked on a DBB basis and the food at dinner was delicious, however the DBB only allowed us £35 maximum spend and 2 courses were £45!! So therefore not a full dinner. We were also charged for water of which we weren't advised. Breakfast was a continental and hot buffet, on the second day was cold even at 8am and unedible. We had pre-booked a treatment at the affiliated Carrick Spa, 2 miles from the hotel. We paid £90 each for a massage, which didnt allow access to the spa. In comparison to 5 star Turnberry Resort in nearby Ayrshire, complimentary spa access is available for all guests and day guests who have booked treatments. I think it would be beneficial and rewarding to paying guests to make their stay more enjoyable. The hotel is undergoing external refurbishment, which we were not advised of prior to our stay. Cameron House is currently not of 5 star standard and requires a change of leadership to make it so. Loch Lomond and the surrounding areas is an area I will always visit, but I will look for alternative accommodation in future.
