See beach in winter; feel sunset over tides; stand against cold gale; empty opulence of the rich; vacant fame of famous restaurant; wide screen TV over fire place; neat Bluetooth speaker on the desk. Complimentary breakfast was excellent after so much typicals. Sea is great.

We recently spent 2 days in a lovely room with a sitting area and a beautiful bath with a deep soaking tub. We had drinks by the fireplace, and a most delicious dinner in the living room. It was truly a delightful way to spend a winter weekend. Thanks to India for making the arrangements so perfectly.

A beautiful log fire and dimmed lights welcome you and you enter making it feel like your walking into someone's living room. A relaxed atmosphere at good food and very friendly service. I've not stayed here but been to the bar and restaurant multiple times. Very warm and welcoming and relaxing in the winter months.

This was my boyfriend’s and my second stay at the property. The first time (only a few months ago) was magical – boutique feel, great service, nice room. But this time was VERY disappointing. We arrived on Dec 31st and were welcomed to our room – which was the smallest the hotel has, but cute and cozy with potential. But quickly we saw torn sheets (several holes in various places), lipstick/makeup stains on one of the robes, and a heater that said “system error” and made the room quiet hot. We mentioned this to the front desk, but none of this was addressed because they were quite busy preparing for the New Year’s event in hotel (and later they said the heat just wasn’t working correctly). For $300+ a night this was definitely disappointing but not the reason I gave this hotel a 2 stars this time. But the rest of the evening was. We had dinner at the restaurant that evening and after welcoming the New Year’s at midnight at the bar, we went back upstairs to our room. Unfortunately the room wasn’t just the smallest room at C/O Maidstone, but it was also the room directly above the speakers in the bar/restaurant. The music was blasting till 4:30am! We woke up around 10am after not much sleep (due to music and super warm room) and went down to breakfast – which was not there. The few staff that were there were apologetic and welcoming, but seems there wasn’t proper scheduling done for breakfast service on the 1st of January and thus there was almost no food available. We had to go elsewhere to get food. Again, none of this is catastrophic – but it is all very disappointing for a luxury hotel that charges $300+ a night. There were a few things I think hotel could have done- 1. If the room you are providing the guests is above speakers and you are planning to host a party till 5am, please warn the guests – so they are not surprised. 2. If in the morning you realize your staff isn’t available, perhaps provide a voucher for guests to have breakfast elsewhere or refund part of their stay? 3. Reimburse the guests for a night where they could not sleep at all. I will say that upon check out after our second night, we were given a voucher for one night free future stay – which is great. But it requires us to travel here yet again at some point (which given the experience we had, I am not sure we will) and still does not reimburse us for the money lost while getting very little sleep in not amazing circumstances (the sheets, the robes, the heat). Anyways, I am so disappointed because this place has SO much potential and our first stay was just awesome. Hope others have the experience we had in our first stay and not our second stay.

Overpriced and under-plated. First course was a small plate of Kale leaves - not even the curly type with five croutons. Supposed in an Anchovy sauce but no anchovy taste at all. Main taken was ham, single slice of dried up meat on mash with the burnt scrapings of some Brussel sprout leaves. Sweet of chocolate pecan was three tiny petite four size pieces served on a tea plate. Servers reached across the table to collect plates and even passed full plates to guests to pass around. Ghastly experience and they charged $90 for this - any veg was another $10!!!!
