Treated like Royalty in Edinburgh

Five Star Experience. Service. The entire team here at The Balmoral “gets it”. From a warm curbside welcome from the doorman, to the dining room staff, to housekeeping, no request was too much. I was unwell from a bout of food poisoning in Oben, and they especially made me rice for breakfast. The GM of the hotel called our room to thank us for visiting again and making sure everything was fantastic. The location is close to shopping, The Mile and many places to eat. While it’s pricing is not cheap, the value is there. Highly recommend a stay and a splurge, you won’t be disappointed.

Balmoral Hotel Stay

We had stayed in many five star hotels and Balmoral is one of the best. The customer care they have provided was excellent. Very polite and service minded staff they have made a huge difference in making our experience memorable. They even remembered our wedding anniversary and had a special celebration gift in our suite. Keep up the great service. We will come back to stay at Balmoral hotel for sure!

Exceptional Hotel

This is an excellent luxury hotel. Exceptional staff, decor, restaurant, location ... we could not have asked for a better experience. There are all kinds of interesting notes throughout the hotel including J.K. Rowling having written the final installment in the Harry Potter series in a suite on the second floor. We travelled in January by train from London which was so convenient since the hotel sits adjacent to the station. The concierge staff were exceedingly helpful, providing advisory and directions. Our room on the second floor overlooked the busy Princes Street and our room was very quiet. The breakfast was just lovely and we dined in the hotel restaurant twice for dinner, it was exceptional. Everything about this hotel is wonderful and we hope to return to this amazing city and The Balmoral one day.

Wonderful

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed 2 nights in early April when we first arrived in Edinburgh. I could have stayed a week! It was very easy to reach from the airport (we took the tram) and Waverley is right across the street. The staff was all very pleasant and helpful. It was pouring rain when we arrived and we’d just had a very long flight, and when we arrived the doorman grabbed our bags and took them inside. Our room was not yet ready, so he then put them in storage for us (and they were in our room before we even were). The front desk took my phone number and called me when the room was ready (not much longer after, but we were there around 1:30 p.m.). The hotel was beautiful. The room was wonderful- it was very large with 2 closets, a couch, and a desk. We had a cot for our daughter, and it was not crowded at all. The cot was like a mini bed - not a cot that you usually get in hotels. We had an interior room, and it was very quiet. The room also had a safe, drawers, tea/coffee maker and fridge. My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan, and we stayed on the same floor as the JK Rowling suite- very cool. The bathroom was very large. We did get washcloths. We also got robes and slippers. There is a towel heater right in the shower. There was plenty of counter space. The shower was nice, but the tub was so high. It was probably to ensure a luxurious bath, but for shorter people (i.e. myself and my daughter) it was very difficult to get in and out. Plus the heated shower rack was right there, and I didn’t want to burn myself. We had room service the first night, and the food was very good. The staff member who delivered the food was very helpful- she set everything up, and the food arrived in a mini heater (I’ve never seen this before!), so the food was piping hot. She said she’d come back to get the tray in an hour (housekeeping ended up getting it, but she did return as promised). We had (included) breakfast one morning, and it was very good. There was a big selection of hot and cold foods, and the staff was very nice. We had turn down service and it was amazing. Not only did they turn down the beds and close the shades and leave chocolates, they also gave us water and glasses near the beds and laid down little floor mats for our feet when we got out of bed. This hotel was amazing, and the staff was amazing. But the thing that really won my heart was how well they catered to and welcomed children. My daughter had the best time. Upon arrival, they had left a cookie for her with icing and candies to decorate it. When we got turn down service the first night, they brought her an owl stuffed animal and tucked him in too! Every night they brought milk and cookies for her. In the room, there was a robe and slippers for her too. I have never stayed in a hotel that was so child friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay again.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel, very convenient for railway station, staff very helpful, bed and pillows very comfortable, as was the room easy distances to amenities, Royal mile not too far away. Only minus point was bath in the room, far to high to get in and out of.
