Reviews for Grand Isle Resort & Spa
There are so many wonderful things to say about the Grand Isle Resort. We visited for the first time in May of 2016 and returned again in May of 2017 and it was just as fantastic the second time we visited as the first, if not better. The resort is so beautiful and the restaurant food is wonderful. This is a perfect place to go if you want to relax and unwind. The people who work at the Grand Isle Resort though are the most friendly and helpful people we have ever come across. The customer service that they give is amazing and they will do anything for you at any time. They made us feel so special and made us feel like part of their family. We were so sad to leave but are already looking forward to going there again next year.

I love this place. Everytime I come I almost cry when I have to leave. Everyone who works here is amazing and so friendly. You can't walk out of your room without someone, even the lawn guys saying good morning and have a good day. The office staff is amazing and always does everything the can for you. The staff at the restaurant and bar are awesome. Special shout out to Talia, Tamara, and John. They are always there to great you with a smile and talk you you about anything and everything. I don't want to leave out any of the other restaurant staff i just can't remember everyone's name except for the few i saw everyday. This was my second time at the resort and I'm on my way to airport as I write the this to fly out, almost tearing up. I really don't wanna go back home and face real life lol. Everyone here makes it such a great experience. I will continue to come back as much as I can. I love it here
I like Nassau, I do. But, seriously, too many travellers limit their visit to the Bahamas to Nassau. I urge you to consider including Exuma and you will not regret staying at this hotel. I got a two-bedroom villa and it was very pleasing indeed. There were two massive bedrooms, both beautifully decorated with lots of individual character; I enjoyed the decor tremendously, especially the lamps. Upstairs, was a nice balcony and a proper kitchen. You can really get comfortable here. I will be coming back and reckon I'd do a 5-7 days. My other favourite thing was the pool area and the beach. The pool sort of overlooks the beach and it's just beautiful. You can get free beach towels too and there are nice pool loungers. There's only one restaurant and while the dinner and breakfast menu had loads of options, the food was well-presented and good, but not great and definitely not special, so perhaps that could be taken on board. A note on the staff: the women on reception were total angels, really warm, really friendly and this was replicated across the property: on the grounds, at the bar, in the restaurant etc. It's amazing how nice staff can really put you in a good mood. The staff were great.

The resort is lovely and our room was fantastic. We had a 2 bedroom villa. It was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The resort is not huge so it feels cozy. The pool was never overcrowded. The beach is beautiful and the walk from one side to the other is easy and not taxing. The staff was amazing. Kevica is the best. she was always ready, willing and eager to assist. I wanted a vacation that I could relax on instead of being busy 10 hours a day. This is the place. I laid by the pool, drank banana dacquiris and had a great time catching up with friends. I will definitely return.
We stayed at Grand Isle for 5 nights with our two "tween" children in February. Every staff member was so friendly and accommodating during our entire stay. The villa itself exceeded our expectations. We had a two bedroom oceanfront in a building at the end. It was beautifully and comfortably furnished, with high end appliances. Beds were comfortable, linens crisp and new. It was very, very clean, and we had only positive experiences with the daily housekeepers. The resort included great L'Occitane soaps in the bathrooms...complimentary soap for the washing machine (a must!). Bedrooms are on the main floor, living spaces are upstairs. The only minor disappointment was that it was really "beach view" and not "beach front" (there's a golf course and path between the villas and the ocean bluff, and you can only access the beach from the official entry point past the pool). The view from the upper level balcony was gorgeous, however, and we enjoyed coffee and cocktails overlooking the ocean. We arrived the first day very early in the morning and received a warm welcome from all the staff, from check-in, to concierge, to the pool and beach attendants. We hung out at the pool and had lunch poolside, and were notified promptly when our villa was ready. We read many reviews before we booked, and were prepared for the fact that there's only one restaurant on-site currently. In fact, the reviews were incredibly helpful in setting expectations about the resort. We were not able to make a last minute dinner reservation the one evening that we tried (take note and plan ahead!), but we did order room service and it arrived quickly and hot, and it was delicious. We had lunch poolside on our loungers from the restaurant every day and it was always great. Service for lunch orders and poolside drinks may have been slow-ish, but servers delivered with a smile. We chalked it up to island time, based on similar experiences we had elsewhere on Great Exuma--and you're in paradise anyway, so it didn't really bother us. The beach and pool were never crowded and we felt completely comfortable lounging and reading and splashing. Paddleboards, peddle boards, etc. at the beach were fun and plentiful. The beach was well-maintained and beautiful. Water was clearer some days than others based on weather. Most of the time it was a clear unbelievable shade of blue. We had no trouble with the sandflies biting, though I did hear another guest complaining that she'd been bitten a lot. This is a great resort for just relaxing. We had come directly from Atlantis and were delighted with the slow pace. We took advantage of the pre-arrival grocery shopping service and were able to prepare breakfasts in our villa each morning before hitting the pool and beach. There are no other options nearby for food, so you may wish to order a little more than you initially expect to make sure you're stocked. We headed into town for another grocery shopping excursion to pick up items for a few dinners. We also had a few dinners in town (which is easily 20 minutes away). I didn't think that the quality of the restaurant at the resort differed from that of other restaurants on the island, so I think poor reviews of Grand Isle's restaurant are unfair! There's not anything else to do nearby--no quaint town or shopping--but we were happy to relax at the beach and pool. We rented a car but didn't really need it as there's not a lot to see. I'd be comfortable asking the resort to book a taxi or car service to get into town for dinner or for groceries if we stay again. We took a half day excursion to the visit the pigs (booked through the concierge at the resort) and visited some friends in Georgetown one day for lunch and a swim on a private cay. It's definitely worth it to get out on the water and see the gorgeous scenery. Great Exuma is amazingly beautiful!
