A friend had recommended this resort and the island to me. It was a little higher than I'm usually willing to pay, but 2 master bedrooms; 2 en suite bathrooms, full living/dining/kitchen upstairs with a gorgeous balcony overlooking the golf course and ocean is hard to beat. We had our own golf cart to ride around the resort or down to the liquor store. The restaurant was terrific -- we ate there almost every meal. Service personnel were mostly gracious, highly trained, and will to do whatever it took to make the guests happy,. Could not have asked for more!

Grand Isle Resort was extremely accommodating and took the time to make sure we were having the most comfortable stay as possible. The rooms are large, clean, and the resort offers all the usual amenities including room service. Each villa is equipped with a golf cart located in a small garage and parking spot outside your door if choose to rent a car. There is only one restaurant currently on the property (with great but understandably expensive food), but construction has been started to remodel an old beach home into another place to dine. Would definitely stay here again! Special shoutout to Paul with the "5 Star Smile" and Jonathan at the front gate! You were both so friendly and genuinely wanted to know about our lives. Thank you for being a source of laughter and recommending some great places to visit on the island.

The Grand Isle Resort is by far the best of the best in the Bahamas. I read some of the few unhappy reviews and I've just got to say to them, if you're expecting a Paris experience, don't visit the out islands! By their very nature, outs are laid back, casual, and relaxing. If you want to be waited on hand and foot, stay in your city. This resort is fabulous. The staff will arrange excursions for you but this is not a cruise ship. The tour operators are on their own time, and a Bahamian minute is just longer than a New York minute. Holiday times are extremely busy and everything takes more time. The people are friendly and accommodating but they are out islanders and may not used to being barked at by ungracious guests. After 10 years of visiting this wonderful resort we finally purchased a condo here. All I see are vast improvements, happy welcoming staff, and outstanding facilities. The second restaurant is almost complete, and the beach has been spotless. As for the expense of Exuma, that's because everything is imported, and the resort has no control over that. Yes, a grocery store would be nice (there used to be one close by but it's been closed for a while), but they do offer to have your grocery selections ready for you if you order ahead. Grand Isle will always be my favorite place to go in the Caribbean. We love it!

This review is long overdue. We stayed in March of 2017 and have been trying to get back ever since! Though windy and cool during our stay, we loved every minute. The 3-bedroom villa was luxurious and had everything our family of 5 needed. The heated pool was much appreciated by my 3 children, and the beach was terrific. We ordered dinner by the pool most nights and ate while the kids swam (and ate), which was perfect. We rented a car for the week, which was necessary to see the island...and you should see the island. The beach at the hotel is fantastic, but there are so many other unbelievable beaches. Cocoplum Beach was a favorite- our children used their snorkeling gear for hours to find sand dollars. We loved La Fourchette for dinner and Santanna's one day for lunch. We brought a lot of food with us for breakfast, lunch and snacks because many had posted about how expensive food was. It was great to have this, but honestly the food was not that much different from where we are in the States. However, I would still recommend bringing some staples with you. We brought lots of granola bars,fruit crushers, oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly and bread. There is a liquor store within walking distance of the resort that has very reasonable prices, but there is no grocery store within walking distance. You will need a car for that. For reference, we have children ages 9, 7 and 3 and a great time was had by all!

The Grand Isle Resort is recommended for its AAA four diamond award, defined as establishments that are upscale in all areas. Sadly, we feel we have not experienced an upscale in all areas of our stay. Upon our arrival at Exuma we were collected by a local taxi service at the cost of $35, arranged through the hotel. Our taxi driver was very friendly and informative, however, at an intermit and exclusive five star hotel I would have felt it appropriate that a pick up and drop off service from airport to hotel and vis versa would be included within the exemplary service expected in a resort of this stature. Certainly on the bases that this is a 10 minute journey. Check in was very smooth and we was shown straight to our room, by Paul who was extremely helpful and kind. He was sure to greet us everyday. We made our way to the beach where we received a fantastic service of our towels being laid out and beds moved into the sun, this is service expected at a five star hotel. This was the only day this happened, service should be continued for the entirety of our stay? The hotel beach is amazing! Just incredible, with barely a soul on it. Throughout our week stay we only shared the beach twice. It truly is what makes the stay slightly worth it. The beach is shared with the Sandals resort but there is a big gap between. The hotel offer complimentary water sports too so that is a nice touch. Although the restaurant is recommended for its quality it unfortunately lacks choice, I suffer from an number of allergies limiting the different foods I can eat. Partially for this reason we try to choose more upscale hotels that can accommodate my needs. The restaurant has only one vegetarian dish of which I could not stomach to eat everyday for seven days. The lack of variety was extremely disappointing. There is only 1 restraunt on site Papyala Grill and it's seriously over priced. They don't even have a shop on site where you can buy groceries, so basically your stuck. 1 thing I found very weird was that there wasn't an ice cream stall. We have had a week with no ice cream on vacation!!!!!! If you want to take a taxi to their food market it's $100 return, we instead rented a car so we could do a couple of other things on the journey. We managed to stock up on lots of food so we can self cater. Be warned EXUMA is expensive just everything about it, even our food shop in a local supermarket a packet of pasta nearly $7! A pineapple $6.50! I have attached a picture of the rug in our room and also the soles of my partners socks. As you will see these are filthy, the floors of the room were not cleaned during our stay, we can verify this as one a couple of separate occasions we were in the room while it was being serviced. There was small ants in the kitchen and the bed linen was not changed. I expect that when you spend an extremely large amount of money to stay here that these things are part of the norm. All of the above was mentioned to the receptionist, who simply dismissed it! Even stating that "yes they are ants", that is not the response I was hoping for I could see they were ants. We found the large majority of staff so rude and uninterested. On one occasion when I was explaining about the room the lady actually walked away from me! I have never experienced customer service as poor as what I have received here. We hired a car through the hotel to travel to George Town food markets and also the Tropics of Cancer beach. We filled out the forms the night before so the car was at the hotel at 9am ready for us to go straight out. The car was not here at 9am and had breakfast as we was told it would only be 20 minutes, however, this time passed and still no car when I asked where the car was it transpired the hotel had not sent the form, 20 minutes later still no car and reception did not appreciate us chasing and were very rude. The car arrived 10:30in the end, with no apology or explanation from the hotel. Appalling. I would ordinarily presume that the service and quality at an exclusive resort, like the Grand Isle, be above the norm and something that takes your breath away. I am sadly very disappointed with my overall stay and quite frankly we couldn't wait to leave!
