We stayed at Grand Isle for 5 nights with our two "tween" children in February. Every staff member was so friendly and accommodating during our entire stay. The villa itself exceeded our expectations. We had a two bedroom oceanfront in a building at the end. It was beautifully and comfortably furnished, with high end appliances. Beds were comfortable, linens crisp and new. It was very, very clean, and we had only positive experiences with the daily housekeepers. The resort included great L'Occitane soaps in the bathrooms...complimentary soap for the washing machine (a must!). Bedrooms are on the main floor, living spaces are upstairs. The only minor disappointment was that it was really "beach view" and not "beach front" (there's a golf course and path between the villas and the ocean bluff, and you can only access the beach from the official entry point past the pool). The view from the upper level balcony was gorgeous, however, and we enjoyed coffee and cocktails overlooking the ocean. We arrived the first day very early in the morning and received a warm welcome from all the staff, from check-in, to concierge, to the pool and beach attendants. We hung out at the pool and had lunch poolside, and were notified promptly when our villa was ready. We read many reviews before we booked, and were prepared for the fact that there's only one restaurant on-site currently. In fact, the reviews were incredibly helpful in setting expectations about the resort. We were not able to make a last minute dinner reservation the one evening that we tried (take note and plan ahead!), but we did order room service and it arrived quickly and hot, and it was delicious. We had lunch poolside on our loungers from the restaurant every day and it was always great. Service for lunch orders and poolside drinks may have been slow-ish, but servers delivered with a smile. We chalked it up to island time, based on similar experiences we had elsewhere on Great Exuma--and you're in paradise anyway, so it didn't really bother us. The beach and pool were never crowded and we felt completely comfortable lounging and reading and splashing. Paddleboards, peddle boards, etc. at the beach were fun and plentiful. The beach was well-maintained and beautiful. Water was clearer some days than others based on weather. Most of the time it was a clear unbelievable shade of blue. We had no trouble with the sandflies biting, though I did hear another guest complaining that she'd been bitten a lot. This is a great resort for just relaxing. We had come directly from Atlantis and were delighted with the slow pace. We took advantage of the pre-arrival grocery shopping service and were able to prepare breakfasts in our villa each morning before hitting the pool and beach. There are no other options nearby for food, so you may wish to order a little more than you initially expect to make sure you're stocked. We headed into town for another grocery shopping excursion to pick up items for a few dinners. We also had a few dinners in town (which is easily 20 minutes away). I didn't think that the quality of the restaurant at the resort differed from that of other restaurants on the island, so I think poor reviews of Grand Isle's restaurant are unfair! There's not anything else to do nearby--no quaint town or shopping--but we were happy to relax at the beach and pool. We rented a car but didn't really need it as there's not a lot to see. I'd be comfortable asking the resort to book a taxi or car service to get into town for dinner or for groceries if we stay again. We took a half day excursion to the visit the pigs (booked through the concierge at the resort) and visited some friends in Georgetown one day for lunch and a swim on a private cay. It's definitely worth it to get out on the water and see the gorgeous scenery. Great Exuma is amazingly beautiful!

The accommodations are very nice and what you would expect for the money. the part of the restaurant, was the location. Food and service were below what was expected for the price .. if you want to experience the island you will have to leave the resort. for small children this is a good place to stay.

The room was gorgeous! Was a lot better than our in Sandals. The beach was connected to ours so it was just as nice. The service we experienced at the restaurant was horrible. Despite it being a 'open restaurant' and anyone can go eat there since it's cash payment they were rude to us. The waited about 25 minutes to seat us and seated couples who showed up after us but were staying at the resort. We were a paying customer too! After seated it took about 45-50 minutes to get our food and when we did it was cold. We spent $25 on a burger and 2 cokes. For that price it should have been a lot better. Would not stay or eat here if I return to the island.

Jamiel Clark made my sister and I feel special from the moment we stepped on property. He is truly a "hands on" manager that takes care of his guests. We can't thank him enough for looking after us! Our two bedroom penthouse was fabulous with bay view out of the front and ocean view out of the back. The penthouse was very up-to-date with beautiful decorations. Pool area was beautiful and the beach is a very short walk away. We had an overnight travel delay. The resort welcomed us back with open arms, making sure we were taken care of. I would recommend this property to anyone traveling to the Bahamas! Thanks again, Jamiel!! Sincerely, "The Sisters"

Just returned from the best vacation of my life. After much research, my sister and I decided on Grand Isle based on the pictures and reviews. We couldn't be happier with our stay. The first thing you notice when you drive through the gates is how beautiful it is. Palm trees, beautiful flowering bushes, immaculately maintained, just breathtaking. Even though the resort is amazing, the best thing about Grand Isle is the people. Everyone is always smiling. The groundskeepers, which there are many, whenever you walk by stop what they're doing and smile and say hello. The AMAZING assistant manager Jamiel, made our visit extra special. He personally drove us to our villa and carried our two large suitcases up three flights of stairs since the elevator wasn't working that morning. The waiters who got your drinks, were always there. They came to the beach, to the pool, always making sure you had whatever you needed. The beach is breathtaking. Grand Isle has a man on a tractor each morning who rakes the beach. There are at least 10 grass huts on the beach that you can sit in if you want to not be in the sun to enjoy the view, which is spectacular. There are paddle boards and kayaks that you can use. It's a white sand beach which is very easy to get in and out of the water, no big drops. We ate every evening at the La Palapa grill and it was delicious. It was a great view overlooking the pool and ocean. The villas are fantastic. Our villa was oceanfront, which was wonderful to wake up to each morning. On the day we were supposed to leave, our flight was canceled because of a maintenance issue. We were at the airport and called Grand Isle in a panic. They not only accommodated us, but Jamiel had contacted the airport checking on the guests from the resort who were on the plane making sure everyone was taken care of. That is 10 star service. You feel that Grand Isle truly cares about the people who stay there. Most of our plane wound up at Grand Isle. Those who had stayed at other resorts were told there weren't any rooms, but Grand Isle accommodated them. After speaking with them they said GI was much nicer than where they had been staying and from now on would only stay there. I have never been around so many nice people, you really feel at home. There are cobblestone roads going through the resort and it's like your own corner of paradise. Make sure to get a pina colada, they make the best one I've ever had. Can't wait to come back and see my friends again. Thanks to everyone and especially Jamiel!!
