Reviews for The Essex Resort & Spa

Beautiful and convenient

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We stayed 3 days. The staff was particularly helpful. The amenities in the room were perfect. There was convenient shopping nearby and we were close enough to Rte 289 to travel easily. The buildings and offerings are really spectacular. We were on an anniversary stay and felt so welcome. We were close enough to UVM to visit a granddaughter. The Lazy Goat Tavern was cozy and fun. Everything about the resort was very well done!

Nice fall getaway

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We've been to the Essex 7-8 times, but always in the winter. Now that I'm retired, we decided to see what it's like in the fall. I was happy to note that the Resort was as clean and beautiful as it's always been. The landscaping, flowers and gardens are just amazing. We loved the outdoor areas to sit and relax. The room was lovely as always - they seem to give us the best room every time we go there! I really like that housekeeping comes to freshen your room without having to ask, unlike some hotels we've been to that will only come clean your room if you're there for 3 or more nights! There were a couple of things that disappointed me. The first is that the Junction is not open Mon-Thurs. I think it would have been great customer service if they had told me that when I was making the reservation. We go to the Essex for 2 things....the food and the pool/hot tub. We ate in the Tavern both nights. The food was okay, but not nearly as good as the Junction. And, unexpectedly, the indoor pool was closed on the second day we were there. We managed to swim in the outdoor pool, which was very chilly! Again, it would have been great to let visitors know that we would not have that available to us. I would have changed my reservation. I do have to say we very much enjoyed the music of Cooie on Monday night. She was awesome!!

Terrie or server was 5 stars! Attentive and friendly! Drinks were perfect! Even between different bartenders. Best drinks in the Burlington area by a mile!
