Lovely grounds. Very impressed with the indoor pool. Room in "The Mansion" was comfortable, especially the bed. Bathroom updated. The view was of the back parking lot. One dinner and two breakfasts in the casual Tavern were very good, though the wait time for breakfast on Saturday was long. For a "culinary" resort, they don't seem ready for quick sit-down breakfast. Fresh-baked items are available at the front desk. Overall, staff helpful and friendly. Plenty to do for anyone interested in golf, tennis, biking, and other activities. Room housekeeping was very good, but someone needs to check on this building's lobby occasionally--half-filled coffee mug by the door from evening to the next morning.

We booked this hotel last minute. It was more than 100 $ less than staying in Burlington. We arrived late and were greeted warmly by the front desk receptionist. He mentioned that he had upgraded our room. We were surprised and pleased. Our room was very large and spacious. There was a fireplace, which made the room feel that much nicer. It was a corner room overlooking the pool. The bed was so comfortable. The grounds are nice, tennis, fire pit, pool, and nice wooded area. We would stay here again.

My husband and I wanted to get away from the Texas summer heat, and we were pleased to discover The Essex. From the friendly and helpful courtesy van drivers and hotel staff, to the colorful landscaped gardens, the spacious, clean rooms, and the fresh cookies in the lobby, we were pleasantly surprised at every turn. The Essex is the pick-up point for a lot of local tours and hot air balloon rides. We stayed for 4 days, and explored many of the local attractions without ever renting a car. My husband golfed at a nice course that is literally adjacent to the hotel. There are walking paths and bike paths everywhere, and bikes are free to hotel guests. We took the Surf & Turf cooking class at the hotel with three other couples, everything from non-cooks to those who make their own mayonnaise (yes, really!). Chef Lisa managed to make it fun and interesting for all of us, and we got to eat our final exam. We finished the week with a couples massage at the Spa and my back hasn't felt that good in a long time! I can honestly say we didn't have one unpleasant experience the whole week. It was just what we needed, and we're hoping to go back in the future to see the autumn leaves.

Had dinner here with a 20 person family group in a private room. Our server Mark was attentive and did very well even with a few small children. Solid beer selection, good cocktails and great food. Hotel grounds and facilities were very well taken care of

We rented a board room for a meeting and it was not set for our meeting at the time we needed. We had to hunt down someone to put water in the room. Although the value was good, the service was not. Additionally, I ate at the hotel twice, both times my experience was less than expected. I ordered soup and the steak frites both items arrived lukewarm and somewhat tasteless. I selected your hotel based on the cleanliness of the room and the culinary experience. I had one of my most prestigious clients in for a meeting and was embarrassed. Please pass this along to your staff, as a business owner - we only grow when we know.
