Not a 5* Hotel

We visited this hotel last week and although most of the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to help especially on reception, there were others that really looked down at you and it was an effort for them to speak. The hotel itself is very nice and our room was really lovely with a a sea view which we had paid for. The bathroom was also really big, with a shower and bath and the wardrobes were there too. We were all inclusive but found it very difficult to find anything to eat. I myself can be a fussy eater, but my husband is always ready to try all food and can always find something. We only had minestrone and vegetable soup once during the week, the other days were fish soup with added pasta, fish soup with noodles, etc. The salads were always mixed with small pieces of fish or crab sticks, even the pasta. Everything was so oily. The food in the heated servers was always Luke warm and the area where the fries, chicken nuggets, sausages etc are served, again the food was always cold. The only way you got a hot plate for your food was to ask the chef if they would put it in the microwave or we put our plates on top of the toaster. (A suggestion would be to get a heated plate storer like in other hotels I’ve visited.) Most mornings because sausage and bacon and boiled eggs were cold or Luke warm, we had toast/fried egg or toast/jam - we had bland salads with cheese at lunch time and the evening meal most night we ended up with a cheese roll or salami roll. There were never any crackers. We used to wait ages to get a drink in the restaurant with our meal and when it arrived was not even half a glass, so after waiting so long we started to order two glasses. My husband had mine and I had water. The nicest meal we had was the Ala carte meal in the (Paris / Rome ) restaurant. It was beautiful food and the two waiters that welcomed us were absolutely fabulous. Courteous always there to replenish and take the plates away asking if you wanted something else and the plates were too hot to touch which was great. It’s a pity the main dining room was not like this. We were also disappointed that people were aloud to come into the dining room with beach shorts and flip flops on in the evening. I appreciate at lunch time you wouldn’t want to dress up, but it certainly didn’t feel like our usual 5* hotels we’ve stayed in. Management were there, but didnt seem to mind or say anything. The Spa was also very nice, but again no one even tried to ask if we were interested in any treatments, they were more interested in being on their mobile phones. They gave you a key for your locker and towel and pointed to the door to enter. Nothing was explained like other spas I’ve been too. It’s our first time to this island and our first time to this hotel and Estapona and although I fell in love with Estapona, we didn’t fall in love with the hotel so unfortunately won’t be back.

Relax & Unwind

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. I called the hotel directly to book a reservation. The customer service representative was helpful, pleasant, and efficient. She confirmed the price and promptly sent an email confirmation. The check-in/out process was easy and hassle free. Staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. Our room had a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and Mediterranean Sea. It was comfortable and well maintained. All the usual amenities were included. Breakfast in the main dining room was excellent. They have hot and cold foods, fresh fruits and juices, and an egg station. We had an ala carte dinner in the Paris Roma Restaurant. Great food and service. This property is clean and well maintained inside and outside. Give their spa a visit and relax in the Thalasso pool. We took a long walk along the coastline, too. There is free public parking just outside the hotel. It is a great place to relax and unwind.

A relaxing stay , in a peaceful hotel .

We had a lovely 5 day stay. It is a relaxing hotel and the staff are so very lovely and accommodating. Our suite was so clean and very spacious inside and out with sun loungers, we were B & B and really enjoyed our breakfast . You can walk to Marina which is a good 40 mims and then an extra 20 mins to old town . We did do this one morning , just to have a look and the coastal walk. But a taxi into port costs about €9 so we would do that in the evenings and there are plenty of taxis outside the hotel and at marina and old town . We would definitely stay again. I would only say that the hotel could do with an update as it is an older hotel and needs a freshen up .

5 star hotel questionable

My family and I returned today from a 7 night stay in Hotel Elba. We couldn't fault the staff very nice and professional. We had booked a standard family room, when we arrived we were upgraded to a junior suite. This was great a lovely spacious room, our two boys were delighted. We had a lovely relaxing week. We are not sure though if it is a 5 star hotel. Plenty of food at breakfast but its a bit of a free for all and coffee from machines. You would expect your tea/coffee served to you, which we have gotten in high standard 4 star hotels. We didn't like sitting outside to eat as there were loads of birds landing on tables chairs etc bird poo on chairs. Doesn't seem to be cleaned off, same with the sunbeds at the kids pool. We had a nice week overall, would we go back not sure.

Nice hotel but overpriced.

Nice hotel but slightly dated. Staff extremely nice and helpful. Food was just OK and could have been better for this price and standard of hotel. Bar was good and bar service excellent. The buffet restaurant was not great but the al a carte restaurants were very good. There seemed to be a lot of files and mosquitoes about although we used sprays etc. and avoided bites, but it was a constant worry. The birds that seemed to have free access to the restaurant and the bar were a nuisance and a probable health issue. The hotel is a bit isolated but the coastal path walk into Estepona is very nice. Spa facilities are nice. There was no entertainment at the time we were there. While the staff were very attentive the hotel is in need of renovations. All in all while our stay was nice I think the hotel is very over priced.
