We went with our 11 and 13yo kids for spring break in March. Palomina Island was nice, but the ferry line was a long wait. It doesn’t run necessarily on the time schedule they say. We got there 20 minutes before a ferry was scheduled to depart, and waited for over an hour. Same thing coming back, a ferry wasn’t constantly running - so we waited over an hour again for one to take us back to the resort. Water park was also a huge hit for our kids, but the last two days it was shut down because of water pressure / supply problems on the island. We had one fun excursion earlier in our stay that was an ATV ride into the rain forest. Our second excursion was a mini boat ride in the afternoon. We got there 30 minutes early as recommended, and then 10 minutes after our departure time, we were told one of the boats wasn’t working and they needed to cancel our reservation. Because it was later in the day, there were no other excursions available to book. And since the water park was shut down for the water problem, our kids were pretty bored with nothing to do. We already knew the food was going to be expensive from previous reviews, but the base price of the daily rate was lower than some other places we were considering - so that offset it. I had budgeted about $250/day for food for a family of four and that ended up being pretty accurate. Food was mid, not terrible, but not excellent. Staff was friendly enough. Minimal wait for the funicular, but our last day only one was running - so the line backed up quickly that day. It’s hard for me to review our trip, the first three days were a 4/5, but the last two days with issues were a 2/5. I don’t regret our stay, there were some fun highlights, but I wouldn’t go back there again.
