The water park is fun for families with young kids and room was clean. Apart from that, service was not great. Didn’t get room service and the food at Cutz restaurant took a staggering 1,5 hours to be served. Unfortunately service let us down for the price tag the resort has. Never coming back!

***READ ME!*** This property has the potential to be one of the premier resorts in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, it just isn’t there yet. The biggest issue is that there are essentially two completely different resorts under one name. One side is the newer, modern, updated section featured throughout the website photos. The other is an extremely rundown, poorly maintained tower that has no business being rented at luxury resort prices. Apparently, the older tower is scheduled for renovation soon, and it shows. Housekeeping and maintenance seem to have been abandoned altogether. If the hotel were transparent about which section guests were booking, I would be much more understanding. Instead, I felt the booking process did not clearly distinguish between the renovated rooms and the older accommodations. After reading many other reviews, it’s clear we weren’t the only guests who experienced this. Our first room, which cost over $650 per night, was absolutely unacceptable. It was filthy, heavily worn, and in desperate need of renovation. There were cracked sinks and shower surfaces, mildew throughout the bathroom, thick layers of dust in places that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in months, and even used floss picks left behind by previous guests. The pillows were yellowed, the bedding felt cheap and worn out, furniture was damaged throughout the room, lamps didn’t work, the toilet paper holder was broken, tiles were chipped, carpet corners were ripped up, and upholstery was badly stained. Charging luxury rates for accommodations in this condition is simply indefensible. To the hotel’s credit, management did eventually relocate us to one of the newer rooms after we complained (and paid even more), and the difference was night and day. The updated room was beautiful, clean, modern, and much closer to what was advertised. Unfortunately, guests should never have to argue or pay extra to receive the quality of room they reasonably expect based on the property’s presentation. The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. Before visiting, I thought many of the reviews criticizing the slow service were probably exaggerated. They weren’t. Breakfast is served in one very small restaurant, and waiting 20 to 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledges your table is completely normal. The servers seemed overwhelmed, the food was extremely basic, and the prices were far too high for the quality. We skipped the other on-site restaurants after seeing their consistently poor reviews. There are plenty of incredible local restaurants nearby, and I highly recommend exploring them instead. Another concern is how misleading the overall rating can be. Based on our experience, it did not accurately reflect the condition of the room we initially received. I encourage prospective guests to read a variety of recent reviews—both positive and negative—before booking so they have a more complete picture of what to expect. What makes all of this especially frustrating is how incredible the resort itself actually is. The private island, water park, pools, beaches, and breathtaking ocean views are among the best amenities I’ve seen anywhere. The setting is spectacular, and the property has enormous potential. With proper investment in the older rooms, significantly improved housekeeping, better staffing, and higher-quality dining, this could easily become a world-class destination. The resort also has a fascinating history, having closed and reopened multiple times over the years. I genuinely hope the current owners succeed in restoring it because I’d love an excuse to return someday. The foundation is there—they simply haven’t brought the rest of the guest experience up to the standard the property deserves. If you decide to stay here, my advice is simple: confirm that you’re booking one of the newer renovated rooms. Otherwise, you may be surprised by the condition of your accommodations. Also, plan to eat off the property whenever possible, as the restaurant quality and service currently fall well below what you should expect from a luxury resort. This resort has some of the most incredible amenities and natural beauty I’ve experienced. I sincerely hope that one day the rooms, restaurants, and overall service will finally match the extraordinary potential of this property.
