Riad Fes, Relais & Chateaux in Fes, Morocco

Strategically located just 25 minutes from Fs Airport, the Riad Fs exudes an air of refined serenity amid the bustle of the city. A perfect example of Hispanic-Moorish architecture, the stylish hotel is arranged around four distinct patios. Ornate courtyards ranging from sober baroque to dazzling mosaic patterns and an impressive Fassi lamp flanked by artfully carved stucco arches fuse Andalusian whimsy with age-old Moroccan design. Begin your day on the rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the Medina with its minarets against blue skies and the gentle green curves of the Atlas Mountains beyond. All 30 rooms are individually decked out in sumptuous textiles and warm-hued wooden furnishings. Filigreed bedside lamps next to traditionally carved or tufted precious cloth headboards reflect meticulous attention to detail, enhanced by must-have modern amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen satellite televisions, and elegant Tadelakt or Italian Carrara marble bathrooms with plush bathrobes and slippers. The Riad Fs beckons you to relax in lavish oriental style at its Spa by Cinq Mondes. Unwind by the outdoor pool, in the cleansing steam of the Hammam or take that much-needed time-out and book a pampering massage.

Cuisine at the Riad Fs equals the sophistication and exclusivity of its surroundings. Secure a seat on the patio near the reflecting pool at L'Ambre restaurant. Serenaded by the tinkling fountains and soft sounds of traditional music, feast on a modern interpretation of fine Moroccan cuisine such as pastille of pigeon and shrimp tajine. You do not need to leave the hotel in search of a nightcap. Instead, retreat to trendy L'Alcazar Bar located on the Andalusian Patio, which is reminiscent of the Alhambra. For oenophiles, the Riad Fs houses a Wine Bar featuring a comprehensive selection of exquisite Moroccan vintages. If you are looking to take home more than store-bought souvenirs, partake in a Moroccan cooking class hosted by the hotel's chef. Before learning how to assemble a delectable three-course meal, follow your instructor to the town's busy souks to pick the best and freshest ingredients. No matter how you choose to spend your time, each experience is certain to be special at the Riad Fs.

Our expectations were exceeded in this riad. It's a visual paradise. The breakfast buffet was varied, high-quality and delicious. The spa was a treat and good value for money compared to what i had experienced in Marrakesh. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. I wish the riad provided more complimentary bottles of drinking water in the room. With outside temperature soaring 44 degrees, 2 half bottles for a couple/day seemed unrealistic. The bottles in the frig were exorbitantly priced. Avoid the touts and guides as you go out.

Our tour guide recommended it for dinner and it was very good. The pasta was great for the kids and the lemon, chicken tagine was really tasty. The spice fruit for dessert was nice and refreshing. It looked like a really nice hotel with a pool. Would consider staying there next time in Fes.

Riad Fes was great; very quiet rooms, a lovely pool, great restaurants and excellent breakfast. There was a rooftop area where you could relax and get a drink, and listen to the call to prayer from the different mosques as you looked over the city. They also had offers for laundry services, in the event you're doing a long trip. Very lovely hotel, highly recommend. BEAUTIFUL lobby and lovely welcome snack and refreshing beverage.

We went to snoop and fell in love with the property immediately, it is quiet and elegant. We sat at the poolside bar and had one of the best Martini's ever. Then we ascended to the roof for a magical view. Everyone we encountered was enjoying themselves. We adored the bar tender and welcomed the opportunity to consume a well made adult beverage in Morocco

...and the rest of the hotel is gorgeous, too! We enjoyed four nights at Riad Fes, and the longer we stayed the more we didn't want to leave. Sunset drinks on the rooftop with all of Fes stretching in front of you and the call to prayer echoing through the city is one of life's unforgettable experiences, and it was made better by Fatah, the greatest barman in all of Africa (in our view). Fatah is a treasure -- witty, friendly, talented. Of all the people we met on our month long trip, Fatah will remain the most memorable. Other hotel services were on par with our expectations at an R&C property. Housekeeping was great, laundry was handled same day and promptly delivered to the room, pool was terrific (and lunch poolside is a treat).
