Riad Fes, Relais & Chateaux in Fes, Morocco

Strategically located just 25 minutes from Fès Airport, the Riad Fès exudes an air of refined serenity amid the bustle of the city. A perfect example of Hispanic-Moorish architecture, the stylish hotel is arranged around four distinct patios. Ornate courtyards ranging from sober baroque to dazzling mosaic patterns and an impressive Fassi lamp flanked by artfully carved stucco arches fuse Andalusian whimsy with age-old Moroccan design. Begin your day on the rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the Medina with its minarets against blue skies and the gentle green curves of the Atlas Mountains beyond. All 30 rooms are individually decked out in sumptuous textiles and warm-hued wooden furnishings. Filigreed bedside lamps next to traditionally carved or tufted precious cloth headboards reflect meticulous attention to detail, enhanced by must-have modern amenities such as air conditioning, flat-screen satellite televisions, and elegant Tadelakt or Italian Carrara marble bathrooms with plush bathrobes and slippers. The Riad Fés beckons you to relax in lavish oriental style at its Spa by Cinq Mondes. Unwind by the outdoor pool, in the cleansing steam of the Hammam or take that much-needed time-out and book a pampering massage.

Cuisine at the Riad Fés equals the sophistication and exclusivity of its surroundings. Secure a seat on the patio near the reflecting pool at L'Ambre restaurant. Serenaded by the tinkling fountains and soft sounds of traditional music, feast on a modern interpretation of fine Moroccan cuisine such as pastille of pigeon and shrimp tajine. You do not need to leave the hotel in search of a nightcap. Instead, retreat to trendy L'Alcazar Bar located on the Andalusian Patio, which is reminiscent of the Alhambra. For oenophiles, the Riad Fés houses a Wine Bar featuring a comprehensive selection of exquisite Moroccan vintages. If you are looking to take home more than store-bought souvenirs, partake in a Moroccan cooking class hosted by the hotel's chef. Before learning how to assemble a delectable three-course meal, follow your instructor to the town's busy souks to pick the best and freshest ingredients. No matter how you choose to spend your time, each experience is certain to be special at the Riad Fés.

Very historic. Good restaurant as well. This is a hotel that blends in with the character of the city itself to give you the full experience of being somewhere ancient, but is well updated. Shower in the room wasn't quite hot or strong enough, but otherwise, a very good stay.

Staying in Riad fez was a welcome treat. After over a week of delicious and healthy fixed breakfasts of yogurt, bread, jams and fruit; it was nice to wake up to a full buffet with hot food and EGGS! I had my first hot breakfast in Morocco, and my first omelette finally. the riad is beautiful to say the least, and the staff was very accommodating. Beds were super comfortable and rooms were equipped with all the basic necessities and a big plus was the Nespresso machine in the room.

Riad Fes is a treat to one's eyes with it's ornate and opulent courtyard. The interiors are a quintessential Moroccan dream. Every pillar, and roof are magnificent. Conveniently located in the medina it is easily accessible to most tourist attractions. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Food is excellent although expensive. Would highly recommend.

We stopped her for lunch and were glad we did. The venue is beautiful with a courtyard pool by the bar, and an adjacent contemporary restaurant. The food was outstanding as was the service. One of the very best dining experiences during our two weeks in Morocco.

We started with lunch in the courtyard - the beef kefta was surprisingly good. After that we went up to the roof and relaxed there all afternoon. The view of the city are amazing, the hotel is high in the medina and the roof looks down over the rest of it and the rest of the city. The service was excellent, and the head bartender rivals or even outdoes some of the best cocktail restaurants in the world. His signature cocktail was a combination of vodka, grapefruit, lemon and orange juices, mint, thyme and strawberry. Complex and refreshing at the same time - must try. Also had the best Negroni of my life. There's deep house music playing at a comfortable volume for vibes but not loud enough to be in-your-face.
