Il Salviatino in Fiesole, Florence, Italy
A stunning and perfectly hand restored 15th century villa that lies proudly on the hillside of Fiesole, with inspirational views of Florence and the rolling Tuscan landscape. A magical place, where our obsession for the perfect service and experience blends with the grandeur of the setting. A truly unique experience, a way to enjoy and be a part of both Florence and Tuscany that cannot be imitated.
Discover the sumptuous comfort of our suites and rooms. Each individually decorated, respecting the many particularities of the villa and its gardens, all suites and rooms are an elegant blend of local artisanship and the latest technologies. A place where luxury has no limit, a stay here is beyond every imagination. We want our Kitchen to be as tied to its territory and to the seasons as possible. At Il Salviatino, we are quite fortunate to be surrounded by a luxuriant park, so we have decided to devote a portion – actually what was once the historic orchard – to an organic vegetable garden, so that we may offer vegetables, fruit and aromatic herbs that are truly ‘from producer to consumer’! We are already working on it and we should have the first ‘fruits of our labors’ soon! Immersed amongst the rolling hills adjacent to the Villa, one enters a truly magical world at our Spa and Pool area. The Spa Il Salviatino, unites Il Salviatino’s idyllic setting and renowned service with the ancestral knowledge and delicate aroma’s of Dr Vranjes, one of Florence’s most exclusive perfume houses. From the 15th of April to the 3rd of October you will also be able to enjoy our pools. Immersed in the green hills, with stunning and relaxing views, you will find it hard to believe you are lying just 15 minutes away from the hustle & bustle of down town Florence.

Reviews for Il Salviatino
The hotel is beautiful, sits on a hill overlooking Florence in Fiesole. Great attention to detail and wonderful staff that will cater to your every need. Convenient complimentary shuttle to the center of town (Duomo), only about a 15 min ride, made going into Florence very easy. Looking forward to staying there again.

The building is impressive on both the exterior and interior with the winding drive up to the hotel and the library and winding staircase inside. We had a classic room which was basically a basic room. Very small facing out onto the driveway but the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom again small but did like the shower. Had a strange waste of space in the wardrobe area where perhaps a fridge could have been situated. That would have been an asset as would milk to go with the coffee. The tray with soft drinks, water and crisps were silly prices. Although they did leave a bottle of water by the bed at night in the turn down service. The air conditioning was not brilliant and probably needs upgrading. Breakfast is very good with an extensive variety and additional food can be cooked although we had a bit of a hit and miss with the service at breakfast to be honest. Had to keep asking for things. The view from the hotel across towards Florence and the Duomo is impressive and it is lovely to sit outside on the veranda and look across at the lights. Hotel run a shuttle bus into Florence and drop near the Duomo but it finishes at 8pm so expect to have to pay a hefty charge for a taxi ride back if you don't take the bus. Our charges were 25,20 and 15 Euros for the 3 rides. Another guest had to pay 30 Euros for one journey. It is peaceful and the swimming pool area is pleasant enough. The spa has 5* prices which I think many British people would find a bit too hefty. We booked on a reasonable deal through Travel Republic I would not have been happy if I had paid the full price because I think there are probably better hotels in Florence itself. We had 6 gin and tonics during our stay and I am still in a state of shock at being charged 18 Euros for each one so the bar bill was silly money for those 6 drinks. Having said that it was pleasant for 4 days. Its better than average so it would be unfair to pick that option.

What a magical place. Stayed there for 3 days and truly enjoyed the ambiance, food and service. The details of decor throughout the villa combine old style with the highest technology perfectly integrated. View - priceless. cannot wait to return. Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Firstly I must say the hotel views and appearance are really lovey and evoke a sense of this hotel being 5 star worthy. The views over Florence are amazing and the age of the property and layout are great. Two main things let this property down - food and staff. Food - the food is overpriced, it always is in hotels we know but here it's another level. For a average evening meal for two expect to be spending €160+ without wine for what in all is ok but nothing special. We are also vegan and made a request on booking if the hotel could have some options to accommodate this. The hotel acknowledged this initially but then ran out of soya milk after 2/3 days and gave really small portions of vegetables for us for breakfast. Also we had my wife's birthday while we were there so I mentioned early if they could get some tofu in for our meal - I asked three times about this and only on the third occasion did someone actually ask the chef and sort it. Furthermore as a warning to other vegans - they don't seem to grasp that gluten free bread is not necessarily vegan as we kept being given croissants etc and when we asked if they were vegan we were told "they're gluten free yes". Staff - we had something taken from our room which we brought from home. I notified staff twice and nothing was mentioned back to me. It was only something small but no action was ever taken. I asked to speak to the manager on the third occasion and debriefed him about the lack of vegan options, the fact something had gone missing from our room and no one had taken any action regarding my wife's birthday meal seemingly. He seemed to take this on board and for the next couple of days a bit of a fuss was made whenever we went through reception to try and compensate. No offer ever expired to compensate us for our loss but more vegetables did make their way to our table in the morning. We went to a shop in town and bought some items to take to breakfast ourself in the end. The birthday meal was ok but a bit bland as they didn't seem to know what to cook tofu like (they kept asking us what to do with it) and it was a hefty bill that we were presented with on checkout (they did not tell us the price of the meal beforehand or during as they simply gave us a piece of paper at breakfast with the menu on but no prices). They did organise a birthday cake which was nice but it was far too big for two of us and I got the impression this was fully added to our bill even though we had t asked for this. €270 was the total on checkout for the meal which seemed excessive for what it was. Overall a little disappointing. We don't mind things going wrong at a stay but we do believe in saying something politely and giving an opportunity to fix it. I don't think they really did try and compensate us properly apart from a nervous few days around reception and things went unfixed. Also felt like you had to keep bringing up the same issues time and time again - you mention to the front desk staff and they never came back to you. In the end you almost say forget it because you don't want to keep bringing it up. It's a shame as the location is gorgeous.
I stayed here with my wife for 4 days, on arrival we were given a room upgrade and what a room it wA, spacious, elegant and with it's own private patio. This hotel is outstanding, as you approach from the road it nestles in the tuscan hills with it's splendour for all to see. Extensive grounds are wonderful, views over the tuscan hills and Florence, there is a fantastic outdoor pool(s) with a small drinks/snack bar.The views are to die for, eating breakfast overlooking Florence. Breakfast is amazing, plenty of choice and as I said, sitting there overlooking Florence was just amazing. The staff are fantastic and really make your stay special, I liked the idea of having a single number to call for all your needs to be catered for.The hotel is truly wonderful, with plenty of history and space, I would say this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. Food wise, the menu is not that extensive, you would want to try out the various excellent restaurants in Florence. Also note that the hotel provides a regular shuttle bus to and from the city by the Duomo. This is not a cheap hotel, but paying that bit more does really give you a restful and wonderful stay.
