Fantasy in Tuscany!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I'm not sure exactly where to begin this, so I'll start with the top! It's a 15th century Villa that has been incredibly tastefully converted into a hotel and spa with about 45 rooms/suites. They have the full suite of amenities, that any larger and more full size property of this caliber would be expected to have. Edoardo is the relatively new General Manager, and the man is the CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONAL! He has curated a wonderful staff and property, and while sadly I don't remember everyone's name, they are all wonderful and will go out of their way to make you feel at home and like royalty at the same time! The building is almost a time capsule in and of itself! There is a wonderful library next to the bar for relaxing, and all throughout the property are books of various ages from fifty to hundreds of years old and with gloves to be worn by the reader, for the protection of book. Alessio is the bartender for the property and the man KNOWS what he's doing! He has been doing it for 20 years and his proficiency is obvious! When dealing with professional service people I'm a big believer in letting them show you their local traditions or specialties, not unlike a sommelier, and his personal recommendation was delicious! I won't spoil anything, go and visit, and tell him to make you one of his special creations! Demetrio is the restaurant manager, but also helpful with suggestions, like a concierge! We were so hoping to dine in their restaurant for dinner but ended up staying in town all but one of the nights, but I'm sure the food would be fantastic! Florence is know for a particular cut/style of steak "Steak Florentine." American's would know it as a porterhouse cut, and it's generally cooked rare over wood flame and served sliced off the bone! One night we we're wanting a traditional experience of Steak Florentine (one can not subsist on pasta alone!) and Demetrio and Alessio sprang into action, setting us up with a great local recommendation and even calling to make us a reservation and more! I cannot RECOMMEND this hotel enough! The property is magical, the staff feel like old friends you haven't seen in awhile, but you pick up like you never left, and you're just steps away from the majesty that is Florence! Go! Stay! Enjoy!

Magical

Think White Lotus meets Nine Perfect Strangers! Nestled in the hills above Florence this 16th century Italian mansion has a magical mysterious charm. Every room and area is an architectural designer delight providing a procession of luxurious spaces each with their own unique qualities inviting you to pause, linger and enjoy. They all culminate on the terrace with outstanding views of Florence, the star performer. The room was elegant and the bathroom beautifully clad in marble. We received a gourmet welcome treat which previewed the restaurant’s high standard. Also, we utilised the pool which was refreshing and in excellent condition and the massage was possibly the best ever experienced! The only drawback I hesitate to add is that our wish for the AC to be cooler but we are Australian and prefer it that way. Il Saviatino is an oasis of calm & serenity amid the Florentine tourist hustle and bustle. It is truly a sensory experience; with flowers, art work, gourmet treats, the warm sun and nature. Romantic, indulgent and luxurious is descriptive of the hotel. The staff are professional and discreet yet friendly and warm with further enquiry. We very much enjoyed our stay at this fairytale Italian Villa.

Terrible Service!!!! Restaurant & Terrence!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

The location of the hotel is nice 10 minutes from the city center of Florencia. It's beautiful the hotel and with amazing views. A warm welcome from the staff. The big downside it's the staff that works at the restaurant and terrace!! Terrible service! For such a luxury hotel. We were seated outside to have a drink and took over 30 minutes for someone to attend us! After that, we decided to have dinner. We ask for a table inside. We sat and again no one came again really terrible service!!! In the end, we decided to go cuz no one showed up! Very disappointed! End of story…. Just ordered room service!!

Good, but not quite perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

We were on a 10 night tour of Italy, having started in Bellagio, Lake Como. We had 4 nights in this hotel. We loved the peace and tranquility of the Hotel, the style is very elegant, and it smells gorgeous from all the diffusers around! When I asked for an ironing board and kettle, it arrived very promptly. Loved the Pool area and the terrace offers a fab view of Florence. Special mention to Paul the Concierge for his friendly, helpful service. All good. However, we found it odd that the Shuttle Bus doesn’t run on the hour all day. Why have such a big gap? It means that you can’t just do a morning in Florence, as the first bus back in the afternoon is 4pm. Taxis to and from central Florence are expensive - expect to pay around 35 euros each way! Service on the Terrace is very hit and miss. On our first morning we came down to breakfast at 7.30am when it opened as we had tickets booked for a Museum visit. It was a little cool so asked to sit indoors. We were the only guests around. Rather than see to us straight away, the Waiter finished laying out tables for invisible guests, while we waited. It all seemed a lot of trouble for him. We ordered two pots of coffee, one with Oat milk and one with normal milk. Two pots of tea arrived, no oat milk. So we ordered them again, and exactly the same thing happened. So we ended up ordering Cappuccinos as it was easier! Surely with so many Americans staying, black americanos with hot milk is not too difficult to understand! There was one young male waiter who was very good (sorry, didn’t get his name), but in general it seemed like they needed someone to organise them better. If these service issues could be addressed, this Hotel would get my 5 stars.
