Fabulous holiday in a perfect location. The villas are exceptional, beautifully decorated, spacious and each one completely private. It was so nice to have your own outdoor seating area, under cover and alongside your lovely plunge pool. The hotel was always quiet, people tended to stay in their own villas. This also meant the pool area, the beach and sun loungers were always uncrowded. The facilities are excellent, the spa, gym and themed restaurants are top notch. We particularly enjoyed the Teppanyaki restaurant. The staff are very helpful and attend to your every need. If you want any nightlife or buzzy atmosphere this would not be the hotel for you. It is laid back and suits couples wishing to chill. The only small detail which was not perfect was the beach restaurant which needs to be modernised and upgraded to fit in with the rest of the quality amenities. Dining and especially wine is expensive, but you tend to forget that when you are in the body temperature pool watching a gorgeous sunset!

Maradiva is simply incomparable. Its core lies in its staffs who were so welcoming and ensured we were well being looked after. Levi, our butler, and Sahul went for the extra mile. Kevin really looked after us in the morning at the breakfast table. Thanks to Praveen, I had a wonderful experience at the spa- his professionalism and kindness truly elevated the whole experience.

I recently stayed in a beachfront pool villa at Maradiva, and I found it to be one of the most beautiful and comfortable hotel accommodations I’ve ever had. I could live in that villa. Beautiful, spacious bathroom, very bright with windows looking onto an enclosed garden (where there was an outdoor shower). Very comfortable bed and generous outdoor seating area. Service was unfailingly gracious and well-meaning. I enjoyed the bar staff, who offered snacks with pre-dinner cocktails and helped me explore local aged rums after dinner. And I hate to disrupt the unanimous chorus of praise here, but things weren’t entirely perfect. I found that the cuisine in the restaurants didn’t match the quality of the accommodations. Food was generally just OK, and sometimes less than that. Overcooking seems to be a recurring issue. The first dish I ordered in the main restaurant was a piece of snapper so woefully dry and overcooked that it was difficult to get a knife through it. On another night I ordered duck breast and emphasized that I wanted it medium rare. A bit later the waiter reappeared and let me know that all the duck breasts had been cooked in advance and were well done. I was a little incredulous---why ruin a whole supply of duck breasts when they can be so quickly made to order?---but I appreciated the warning and ordered something else. Breakfasts on the other hand were consistently good, with a hybrid system of buffet and a la carte. Another issue is more a matter of personal preference for me. I should have taken the frequent praise here for the “Kids’ Club” as a warning---indeed, this resort is very popular with families with small children, and that definitely affects the ambience in the dining venues and elsewhere. It was easy enough to find a quiet spot on the beach, but I rarely used the resort pool because it was, in effect, a kiddie pool. On the night I went to the Indian restaurant, I counted eight small children running around---they outnumbered the adults in the room. I wondered if I had the bad luck of booking during a popular school holiday week, but two staff members told me that families with kids were common at all times. If you’re a family looking for a high-end resort where your little ones will be made to feel fully welcome, this is your place. If you’re childless and want a sedate, adult environment, perhaps reconsider.
