I don't even know where to begin this is the 1st time I'm writing a review I'll give some of the positive first Rooms are nice villa very spacious clean and comfortable staff a friendly most of the time but that's where it ends... Food was below average we found ourselves dining at local Sofitel as we found if ur not eating curry well than u really don't have a choice of fine dining on one occasion we went to bed hungry as the food was un eatable my husbands pasta rock hard and I've never eaten such hard prawns and chewy scallops in my life Breakfast is the same every morning after a week I couldn't look at eggs anymore We are seafood lovers so we decided to book teppanyaki we left with a $300 bill extra on top of our half board all guest at the table were so furious! I've never felt so ripped off the sashimi was the size of my biggest finger nail we were horrified!! The ambience of the place is very sad everyone who was staying at the resort was sad and we wondered if they were just feeling what we were upset at the quality as going to Lux Belle Mar or even Sofitel/Hilton down the road people were laughing and smiling the ambience of those resorts was uplifting The waiters hound u 24/7 to get another cocktail when u havent finished ur 1st and they were sugary and had no alcohol in them I don't tolerate too much alcohol but I could easily have 10 and still feel like I've had 1 My husbands experience was so bad he said he will not return to Mauritius we spent so much money we could've gone to Maldives Staff are under trained which is not there fault but managements we ordered flat white coffee only to have staff come back to us 3 times to ask what we wanted and we got burnt frothed milk I guess they didn't have flat white button on there coffee machine This resort does have a lot of potential but management needs to change On our last day our flight didn't leave till the night and I asked if we could use the villa for an extra few hrs which we were refused the manager even rocked up at 12:20 to escort us out we thought that was so extreme I was lied to that the villa will be booked but when I checked before we left there was no one there or using it Honestly rethink booking here Lux Belle Mar or Sofitel down the road so much better in ambience food and resort quality! Only positive was the villa

Despite the weather when we arrived the Maradiva didn’t disappoint. The staff were all welcoming and were all very helpful, Kenny in particular in reception was brilliant even if he did support Arsenal! The villa was exactly as advertised, although some maintenance was over due on the villa this did not spoil the whole relaxing experience. Both the villa and private pool were cleaned daily to a high standard and attention to detail was good. Our villa was a short walk from the beach and from there we were made very welcome by Olivier and the other bar staff. Olivier in particular demonstrated brilliant customer service definitely a 10 our of 10. Well worth a visit would highly recommend.

While being driven to my villa after check-in at around 3pm, my first impression of the hotel is that this can’t be a 5 Star hotel. The grounds look tired, some shrubs barren, leaves on the ground. My thoughts then were ‘I would never come back to this hotel again.’ I totally changed my mind after my 2 day stay at the hotel. Maradiva is now one of hotels I would definitely come back to the next time I visit Mauritius. The villa is large, clean and with modern decor. I especially liked the veranda and private pool outdoor space. The grounds in the morning look refreshingly well kept - no leaves on the ground and the plants did not look so dry anymore. I actually enjoyed looking at the wide variety of birds in the garden while walking to the restaurant for breakfast. There were enough food choices for breakfast but I especially enjoy the calm and peaceful environment, unlike at larger hotels where the environment for breakfast and dinner buffets are always hectic. I invited my parents and siblings to join me for dinner. My dad was not very well, so I asked for something to be setup for an 8 person in-villa dining. The in-villa dining manager personally came to see me in the villa to work out a menu. The recommendations were very good – everyone enjoyed the food but above all, the service was excellent and we all had a great relaxing time together. The following day, my siblings spent the day with me and it felt like we have the amenities all to ourselves – spa, bike rides, heated pools, quiet beach. I would definitely recommend Maradiva to those who enjoy peace and quiet and excellent food and service. One negative though – wifi is so slow that it is pretty much useless. Since my stay at the hotel was short, it did not bother me.

I had the chance to enjoy they wonderful restaurant and visit the place and it's breathe taking. Not only quiet and extremely luxurious but the staff are gentle, friendly and professional. The area is much more alive than other resort only zones in the island. Closer to shops and pubs. I would definitely book this place for my next visit to Mauritius.

I really wish I could give this a 5 star rating. I will divide this review in two parts: 5 Star: The villas are amazing. Very clean, tons of space inside and out, and so private, so it is ideal if you are after peace and quiet. Loved the little pool at each Villa. The bathrooms are great and I especially like the shower room. The beach is lovely, and the little treats you get given during the day are a delight. The Food is adequate - but not outstanding. I found the service at night a little annoying as you had to tell the waiters to give you more time between courses (I heard people at other tables say the same thing too). The waiters were all very polite and nice, so I wondered if that was how they were trained? 2 Star: However the BIG LET DOWN was the grounds and flower beds. I am a keen gardener -I win prizes in gardening, so I notice gardens, probably more than most. I always love looking at resort gardens, talk to the gardeners - I never found one to talk too, there were lots of people raking dead leaves, but that was all. Having a good walk around the grounds I calculated 80% of the sprinklers were either functioning poorly or not at all. Some of the pruning of the trees was criminal. The grass was mostly dead, there were patches here and there were it was ok. When you see the lush green grass in the other resorts along the beach, you know something is amiss. Once upon a time this place must have been paradise because you can see the remains of plants (now dead), where the sprinklers are working, it's very colourful, but mostly it looks like outback Australia. It is a shame someone planted trees that drop leaves so much as most of the effort of the gardeners is raking them up - replacing them with Palms would be more effective. Also at night about 20% of the lights along the pathways are not working - even at some of the signposts! This to me speaks of lack of investment. Please Maradiva bring back the paradise. Please take seriously this review, and hire a new head gardener. I really hate seeing neglected gardens. I found it depressing to sit in our beautiful villa and have to look at dead grass and dying plants.
