Luxury Deserving Of Its Namesake

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

Elegant, old world and old school, superb staff and beautiful rooms. When we asked for ice (how very American) an entire bucket arrived; the coffee at breakfast flowed and was outstanding. It's a luxury property but you get treated like the namesake Medicis. A nice walk to the main attractions (and shopping) centers of Florence, and life-changing gelato is just across the Arno.

One of the best hotels anywhere

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We recently had to make an unexpected change of plans and find a different hotel in Florence, on very short notice. After a brief survey of the options, we chose Sina Villa Medici. This hotel is a bit more expensive than others, but it was worth every Euro and more. The service was absolutely outstanding. Every member of staff was courteous and took care of everything we needed. The rooms were spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and very comfortable. Their onsite restaurant was outstanding, including a sumptuous and unhurried breakfast buffet. The front desk provided excellent guidance on nearby amenities in Florence, as well as helped with our local transportation needs. We had a lovely rest sitting quietly in the shade of their beautiful garden. I have traveled throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, and this was without question one of the finest hotel experiences I've had anywhere.

Great place, great staff and management.

Great stay. The staff were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Room was large and well appointed with a balcony. Bed was just right- we slept well. Would highly recommend and would go back in a minute.

Bad Experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The good: welcoming and attentive staff. The pianist and bartenders were also great. The Bad: The hotel is outdated and dirty. We stayed for four days and noticed the stairways were never cleaned. All of them had dirt, dead flys, and dead bugs. The first room we were given had so many mosquitoes, we got bit relentlessly. By the 2nd night we had to request a change. The second room was even worse, it smelled so bad like rotten eggs , unfortunately we couldn’t wait to leave. As a Marriott ambassador, you also don’t get very many amenities. We really hope Marriott corporate focus a bit more on this hotel.

Gem in Florence

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

What a lovely gem in Florence! Far enough away from the Duomo to keep the noise down but close enough to enjoy everything the city has to offer. I stayed in a Superior Room overlooking the piazza. They are old-school and use original keys so you leave them with the concierge while exploring. The staff was amazing! Was in Florence for a wedding arriving on a Saturday afternoon. Needed things pressed for the next day's wedding and Sina Villa Medici made sure the items were ready. They also arranged for a driver to take us to/from the wedding and the driver was fabulous. Harry's Bar, famous in its own right, was perfect for an afternoon spritz or a late evening nightcap. The chef sends out snacks to enjoy while you sit either outside by the pool or inside by the famous bar. The included was plentiful and the perfect place to start your day. An unexpected flight cancelation caused me to need to spend an extra night. The hotel made sure that I was acccommodated arranging a driver to the airport the next day. All in all, I would highly recommend this property. It's family friendly and a perfect place to be based while exploring Tuscany.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Villa Medici in April. From the moment we were greeted by our courteous driver at the train station to our return, our expectations were exceeded. The room was lovely, overlooking all of Florence, and we knew we would spend time watching the sunset every evening. And the fresh flowers, wonderful cantuccini and vin santo were a welcome treat!
