We agree with the other comments about the hotel which has friendly staff particular on reception the bar man when we there was also great. The hotel is very central and only 10mins max from the railway station which is excellent. Rooms are spacious and well presented but we thought the mini bar did not have a big choice no wine . Dining room for breakfast was also great. We have to agree with one other review that the rooms were uncomfortably hot and would be our main problem with a great hotel. If your planning to go to any main gallery get your tickets on line early in particular the Uffizi which everyone should visit if you want to spend some extra euros do the guided tour which is excellent and you learn so much more. New Year in Florence is a real experience

We stayed for 10 days in Hotel De La Ville, which was suggested by our travel agent because we wanted a room with a separate bedroom (hard to find suites in Florence). This hotel is situated perfectly in Florence. It is located an a street that doesn't have much car traffic, and near some high end shops. Behind it are some amazing little Italian restaraunts. It is a 6 minute walk to The Duomo and Plaza Republica, and 10 minutes to train station. Our room 105 was splendid, two full showers, living room and bedroom. But I also saw a small room that had just a bed and essentials, and it was nice too. But it's the staff, particularly the breakfast buffet crew, that make it an amazing stay. I wish I remember the ladies names there, just great service, and Guisseppe was just terrific. Oh, that buffet! I still reminisce in the fabulous coffee, danishes, and plentiful scrambled eggs and fruit. Just a wonderful way to start the day. Paola at the front desk was splendid, setting up a private driver to take us to Pisa and wine country. And the front desk also worked feverishly to locate a store locally to purchase a baby stroller, as ours was broken by our airline. Kudos to Andreas, just a gentleman who greeted us everyday, and Gianni the manager, who provided constant emails to me prior to arrival. I asked if they had USA to Italy converters there, and they had one in my room when I arrrived! Florence is wonderful , now my favorite place in Europe, but Hotel De La Ville captured my heart. Thank you staff at the hotel for a trip I will not ever forget. You are WONDERFUL.

I had a very comfortable stay for 4 days at the hotel. The rooms are very well maintained, clean, have most amenities that you can ask for. The breakfast was very good. Very good array of food, and the service at the breakfast is good. The front desk is always staffed ..and very friendly. They helped me with any questions I had, printouts, where to get train tickets, calling a cab.. very cordial and pleasant. The hotel does have a restaurant. I did have dinner there.. it isn't bad.. but there are less expensive better places to eat in Florence. The bathroom is clean, good size, and the shower is walk in with adjustable shower head. The location is great, the train station is a 10 min walk, as since Florence is such a small city, you can practically walk to any museum/church within 10-15 min from the hotel. Overall, it is an expensive hotel you get your moneys worth here.

I have been traveling to Florence, for the last 10 years, staying in different hotels. This was my first time in Hotel De La Ville, and there is no other place here, like it. Beautiful rooms, wonderful service, and such helpful staff! This is going to be my home in this pretty city, from now on. A++++. Alice A.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 Night stay. The Hotel is spotlessly clean, very comfortable and perfectly located - near all the main sites but in calm, safe street. The 'Happy Hour' buffet is pleasant before dinner, especially with the 20% discount off our first drink. We had a good sized room and large, comfy bed with effective temperature control to ensure a sound sleep to recover from all the walking and climbing (the 400+ steps of each of the Duomo and the Belltower.) We were very lucky to be in Florence on the first Sunday of the month as all Museums had free entry. Reception staff were very helpful with Reservations, Directions etc. Would definitely return. Thank you.
