Hotel Helvetia & Bristol in Florence, Italy
Set in the center of Florence, the fantastic Hotel Helvetia & Bristol is an essential component of the city's magnificent architectural history. This restored building retains a period feel in rooms awash in lush silks, figured-tile flooring and 17th-century Florentine paintings. Visit the Hostaria Bibendum restaurant, where Chef Roberto Cordisco deliciously interprets Tuscan cuisine, while the sweeping windows of the fifth floor suite make guests feel as if the Duomo is right in their own back yard.
When it comes to exploring the city, there is no better place to begin than at this popular gathering place for artists, celebrities and aristocracy. Pay a visit to the renowned Uffizi Gallery, take in Michelangelo's wondrous statue of David, shop on the Via Dei Tornabuoni, and wander picturesque streets that have changed little since the 15th century. Sunsets are a particular delight, especially when paired with a view of the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River.

Reviews for Hotel Helvetia & Bristol
Excellent location. The best. Average breakfast. Most of the time no attendant at the Bar. Very nice and amicable housekeeping service and room service. The rooms are small but nice and merit 4 stars but need renovation to qualify for 5 stars. Except for one concierge and front desk; they are not really up to the expected standards; not helpful enough with visitors to Florence. Sort of an attitude of "again asking"? They seem to be doing the minimum required. They need to be reminded that the Hotel as well as Florence need us , the tourists. Will try another Hotel next time an will not recommend you.

I am writing this review at nearly 1 am as I would like to highlight my stay at Helvetia and Bristol at Florence. I checked into the hotel at about 7.30-7.40 pm after a 6 hour drive from Positano. I was allotted a room no #155 on the 1st floor by the reception. As soon as I checked in I put the Air conditioner in the room on and started to unpack. It was like almost 30 degrees and it was hot. I called the reception from my room there was no answer even though I tried couple of times. Anyway at about 9.30 I went down to the reception and told them that I was stepping out for dinner and no one answered the phone as I called to complain about the Ac. The person at the reception told me that he will look Into the problem, I said ok and stepped out for dinner. I came from dinner at about 11.30 pm and went to my room and to fine the room was hot as a furnace. I called the reception again to check and they said they would send someone to check. The same person came to the room and saw that the room was not cooling and without even checking he called the reception and told them the issue. The reception staff told me that they can't do anything about this as they are full. To which I have to say that I am staying at a hotel which is part of the Leading Hotels of the World and they say they can't do anything and to take a fan at best. I am sorry to say but this hotel does not deserve to part of the Leading Hotels of the World. It's hot and hell and that's why my review heading is Hell Helvetia and Bristol. After paying over 300 euros a night and to get this kind of room and in this heat is not acceptable. I am writing this review now at 1 am as there is no way one can open the windows as it's too noisy and I can't sleep as too hot sp thought it was best to write a review when the issue is fresh. Hence this review at his hour. Hell Helvetia and Bristol. Definitely does not deserve to be part of the Leading Hotels of the World.

We stayed here for a few days and we really enjoyed it. The hotel is really nice, not modern but completely in "Florence"style. Room was big enough, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. People at the reception and at breakfast were kind and helpful. The hotel is in the centre of the city so perfectly located. Our room was facing the inner square and was really quiet.

This friendly compact hotel is situated only a stone's throw from the Duomo and is perfectly located being in easy walking distance from all other places of interest. It is only a few minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchia and Uffizi museum and about 10 minutes from the Accadamea museum. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We did not have dinner here but the breakfast was good with choice of English and continental style. Our room was bright and spacious although we were very fortunate in that we had been upgraded to a suite! Highly recommended.

The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Florence and yet amazingly quiet and tranquil - it is a small hotel but in no way lacking in amenites - all of the staff were so friendly and helpful - never too busy to offer advice to the traveller - the hotel was always very clean and tidy, the room was cleaned every day and fresh sheets on the bed every day - breakfast which for us was included in the price was lovely - fresh juice, tea or coffee, cereals, hot items such as scrambled egg and bacon and cakes and rolls - if you wanted anything specific the staff were only too happy to make it for you - nothing was too much trouble
