Hotel Helvetia & Bristol in Florence, Italy
Set in the center of Florence, the fantastic Hotel Helvetia & Bristol is an essential component of the city's magnificent architectural history. This restored building retains a period feel in rooms awash in lush silks, figured-tile flooring and 17th-century Florentine paintings. Visit the Hostaria Bibendum restaurant, where Chef Roberto Cordisco deliciously interprets Tuscan cuisine, while the sweeping windows of the fifth floor suite make guests feel as if the Duomo is right in their own back yard.
When it comes to exploring the city, there is no better place to begin than at this popular gathering place for artists, celebrities and aristocracy. Pay a visit to the renowned Uffizi Gallery, take in Michelangelo's wondrous statue of David, shop on the Via Dei Tornabuoni, and wander picturesque streets that have changed little since the 15th century. Sunsets are a particular delight, especially when paired with a view of the Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River.

Reviews for Hotel Helvetia & Bristol
I can't see how anyone would think that this hotel is nice. The rooms are absolutely horrendous! It needs a ton of renovation starting with the carpet. Old ugly green and dirty! Wear your shoes! Non existent wifi. So spotty that you can never depend on it. Good location but that is it. Would never recommend.

This hotel should not have a 4 star rating. It has a great location but so do many other hotels in Florence. We were upgraded to a junior suite. The furnishings looked like they were bought at a thrift shop; shabby, old and dirty. The carpet in the room looked old, dirty and threadbare. There was no place to even get a cold drink. The staff was adequate but certainly not overly friendly. I asked if we could change rooms and they said that we already have one of the best rooms. My daughter and I felt like we were in a flea bag hotel. We did not stay 1 night. If you are used to staying in modern, stylish hotels with amenities, don't stay at this hotel.
The Hotel is located in the heart of Florence, close to all the most significant places, I came with the car, left it at the Hotel and did not touch it till I left... The staff is wonderful, the remember and use your name at every opportunity, very kind and helpful. You really feel like in a private house, if you want to live a true "Florence" experience, there is no better place.

My wife and I stayed at the Helvetia & Bristol from March 31 to April 3rd. We loved the place. Great location. Great breakfast. Great restaurant. Nice room with comfortable bed. Stylish lobby with working fireplace. Staff was friendly and supportive. Arranged for driver to take us on a tour of the Chianti region including a couple vineyards. And it's in Florence! On the whole a great experience.
We chose this hotel for its location - which really was perfect for us. It was a short walk to everything in city center that we wanted to explore. The staff was extraordinarily attentive and really had a team approach. For example, when housekeeping knocked offering a turn down service, I declined but asked a question about the air conditioning. The housekeeper told me she would check with her colleague and get me an answer. Within a minute, they called our room to address our concern. The breakfast each day was more expansive than I anticipated and the waitstaff was courteous and attentive. As a previous reviewer noted, however, street noise can be an issue. Our first night was a Saturday and I called down to the front desk to complain about what sounded like an angry mob outside of my window chanting and shouting until 330 in the morning. (Clearly not the fault of the hotel, but still an issue when you are trying to sleep) The front desk noted that the police had been called repeatedly and they apologized for the noise. Turns out the crowd was a result of the final four games and overly enthusiastic fans. I was concerned that the mob would return in a few days for the final game which did not start until 1 am Florence time. The hotel heard my concern and kindly moved us to an interior facing room for the last two nights of our stay. I think if I went back, I would only stay in an interior facing room because it was so much more quiet and I don't really care much about having a view. Overall, a charming boutique hotel with a top notch staff.
