Hotel Regency in Florence, Italy
Originally constructed for Florentine officials and ministers of state, Hotel Regency exudes the ambiance of a classic Florentine villa. This architectural treasure, boasting a peaceful setting overlooking Piazza D'Azeglio, features an intimate collection of guest rooms and suites swathed in elegant draperies and tapestries. Offering innovative dishes based on Tuscan culinary traditions--as well as a dramatic setting--Relais Le Jardin provides an excellent introduction to local cuisine.
Florence is an evocative city. Simply gaze up at the awe-inspiring dome of the Duomo, created by Brunelleschi, or wander the Bargello Museum with its works by Michelangelo and Donatello. Exploring the Raphaels and Rubens at Pitti Palace is a must. When you aren't soaking up the ancient art scene, relax in the vibrant Piazza della Signoria over an espresso or head out of the city for some fresh air, hiking and canoeing in the lovely Mugello region.

Reviews for Hotel Regency
Lets start with the positive: The staff are charming, the rooms clean and big, breakfasts are satisfying and the location is quiet - something very important to me. However there is room for improvement considering how expensive this hotel is. The word "luxury" is NOT a word I would use to describe this hotel. I have stayed at enough luxury hotels to know. The bathrooms seriously need updating - the cabinets and furniture quite dated and bath products that are the size for one shampoo. We are a couple and whomever showers second always runs out of soap - I hate that. Another bit of a downer - Except for CNN, there are no English channels on TV. I realise most people dont fly into Florence to watch TV but only being able to see CNN (which I dislike) is disappointing. I am sure most of their guests do not speak Italian. That said, after we mentioned this to the staff a checkout, they told us they were in the process of addressing the problem. Another issue was the wifi - not great at all - something that a property of this price class should have no issues with.

The great strength of this boutique hotel is its wonderful service, staff and location. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted at the entrance by the manager Laura and the concierge Fabio. Nothing was too difficult or problematic for this wonderful team. We are a family of 4 so we had a suite which consisted of two interconnecting rooms. The rooms were very well decorated, clean and excellent size. The master bathroom was excellent, the second bathroom was not as luxurious. The shower is located in the bath, trying to get in could be difficult if you are not very mobile. A bottle of still water was provided in each room every day. We were provided with a mobile in each room to use for our stay. This phone could be used to make free international calls during your stay and to use it to navigate around the city. This was a good innovation that we found very useful. Breakfast was excellent each morning, you had a selection of scrambled eggs, vegetables, bacon, cereals and bakery items to choose from. We would highly recommend having dinner there, the restaurant was very good. The hotel is located in a quiet area of town overlooking a park, however it is only a 10-15 minute walk to everything in Florence. For people travelling with families that need to do laundry there is a self service laundry located only 600 m away. We highly recommend this hotel and would return if we are in Florence again.

Excellent hotel in a great place. Very nice staff! Very kind and helpful. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful experience staying there. The hotel is small and gives you a good feeling. Very nice breakfast. Highly recommended.

Hotels can be expensive in Florence. However, this boutique hotel does a great job and doesn't break the bank. It is a short walk from the Centro Storico. The neighborhood is quite. The room was good but the ambience was fantastic. Have a dinner at the hotel restaurant and try the specials and culinary pairings. You will not be disappointed. I would stay here again. They have a sister hotel in Rome that is just as nice.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel , we were met at the door and nothing was too much trouble for the staff . Our room was clean, comfortable ( bed extremely so) and just the right size . We stayed in room 201. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Florence centre , perfect to stroll back after a busy days sightseeing . The hotel has just introduced a really handy smartphone that we were able to take out with us and use for maps, booking tickets , reviews of restaurants and attractions. So useful and free of charge for guests . We used the hotel bikes for the second day , lots of fun and again free of charge. Every member of staff that we had dealings with was polite , knowledgeable, available and most helpful. The reception recommended an amazing place to eat called Touch which is about 7 minutes walk away - one of the best meals we have ever had in Italy . Will certainly recommend this hotel to our friends and will return ourselves on our next trip to Florence . Only negative and it wasn't a problem for us is that the shower was over the bath , and the bath had very high and thick sides so if you were less able you might struggle to get in and out to wash. Only saying this to make other travellers aware but it might not be the case for other rooms at the hotel - if mobility is a problem I would check first .
