We stayed for 2 nights over Easter weekend. The hotel was very nice. The rooms were well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed the small lounge and bar. It was warm and friendly. There is a large comfortable lounge area on the main floor, very comfortable.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, which was for 3-nights on our first visit to Florence, Italy. The room was clean, quiet and very well appointed. Breakfast on the property was excellent, as was the service.

The hotel is located in a tastefully renovated palazzo a couple of kilometres walk from the main sights, rooms tastefully furnished, breakfast generally good and staff attentive. Compared to other 5 star hotels it seems reasonably priced. Drawbacks: loud aircondition, hard mattress and uncomfortable pillows made for fitful sleep; baked goods at breakfast on day 1 (a Sunday) stale.

We arrived in Florence on April 10th, and were totally surprised how nice the Montebello was! Staff was very friendly and accommodating when we asked for another day. The room was exceptional, restaurant amazing, service phenomenal.

Perfect location for many reasons: 1. It'd just outside the heart of Florence (15 minute walk to anywhere in the city). This makes for a great day of tourism and "loud" activities, but allows you to "escape" the chaos for some peace and quiet. 2. Because it's ~15 minutes from all the major attractions, restaurant and bar prices are significantly less expensive. Food is also better and more local. 3. It's extremely close to the train station. My husband and I stayed for 9 nights and took several day trips to surrounding towns throughout Tuscany. The location allowed for an extremely easy walk to the train station. They say location is everything, and this hotel proves the point. We didn't need to take a cab or bus anywhere and for that, you should stay here.
