True Italian hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We chose this hotel because of its incredible view over the city, but that quickly became secondary because what really makes this place special is the hospitality. We had been a bit disappointed by others hotel we stayed at in Italy and we had started to think that Italians had lost that wonderful gift of welcoming guests with the warm smiles that Italian hospitality is famous for. But here, we finally found it again! Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, and they even spoke English, which unfortunately isn't something you can always take for granted anymore. The breakfast was excellent with great quality and attentive service. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back. Thank you all for making us feel so at home!

Not a 4* hotel and way overpriced

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

On the whole I didn’t like this hotel and would not stay here again. -AC was terrible. I know Italy was having a heat wave but we had come from Venice where the hotel had great AC. The room was too warm, definitely never got down to 17 deg C and we had to request fans which barely helped. I even considered moving hotels I was so unhappy. Slept horribly. -Room was dark and depressing. The room faced a tiny enclosed courtyard so had zero view, little light, no airflow if I wanted to open the windows. The room was well appointed but it just felt dark. In retrospect I should have asked to change rooms because over the course of our stay I increasingly became unhappy and depressed about spending any time in the hot, dark room. -blow dryer in the room only worked for about 20 sec before it decided it need a break. And it was weak. -pillows were hard but I asked for and got some soft pillows -bathroom always seemed humid, no fan to dry it out and water from the shower got all over the floor -only the rooftop restaurant seemed to be open for dinner (or at least when I wanted to go) and the menu was very limited and didn’t work for my family. Didn’t appreciate that the waitress claimed she emailed me about the menu (she did not) -didn’t like the location because I got tired of walking in the heat wave 10-15’ to get anywhere. -mini fridge not cold at all Good things: -breakfast buffet was great with a nice selection of meats and cheeses, yogurt, fruit, baked goods. Service inconsistent though with one morning being asked what kind of coffee I wanted and the next morning no one asked -rooftop pool is very nice. Small but adequate for cooling off and gorgeous view. -staff very helpful at check in, getting fans and extra pillows, calling a taxi, with luggage. -rooms made up early in the day and mini fridge restocked with water -bathrobes and slippers available. There was a small cloth for my feet for turn down service I’m assuming, but no one turned down the bed. So in summary this is not a true 4* hotel. The staff was on the whole was great but the dark warm room made my stay unpleasant.

A Gem in the Heart of Firenze

A Gem in the Heart of Florence We just finished an incredible five-day stay at Albergo Luchesi, and we cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of. What We Loved: • The Accommodations: Our rooms were beautifully decorated, balancing classic elegance with modern comfort. It was the perfect sanctuary to return to after a day of exploring. • The Breakfast: Every morning started on a high note with a delicious breakfast. The selection was impressive, fresh, and provided the perfect fuel for our daily adventures. • The Dedicated Staff: The warmth and friendliness of the entire team truly set this hotel apart. A special thank you to the maids, who kept our room pristine, and the bartenders, who were so passionate and attentive. Their genuine care throughout our five days made us feel like honored guests. Summary If you are looking for a hotel that combines style with a warm, caring atmosphere, Albergo Luchesi is the place to be. The staff's passion for hospitality made our trip unforgettable. We are so appreciative of the wonderful memories! Sincerely, Steve & Celia Hulst, Doug & Jan Schrotenboer, Cal & Ardale Schrotenboer, Ron & Nancy Zagers

Mislead by other reviews

We are in the middle of a wonderful Italian spring break vacation with our two children and have been looking forward to Florence from the outset. As we pulled up to Lucchesi we noticed it was a little dated but were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. After checking in with a curt, all-business front desk staff, we were taken to our room in an elevator that can only be described as smelling like a sewage pipe. It was so rancid, we had to cover our noses. The rooms were as minimal and unflavorfull as I have ever experienced. No art, bland colors, chipped paint, and a shower fit for a best western. The sewage odor continues in the room, or maybe it was burnt into our noses from the elevator. The fact that this hotel has 4 stars makes me rethink the validity of the entire “Star” system. Realistically this is a 2 Star hotel at best. Maybe once it was nice 30-40 years ago, but in an era when hospitality has evolved, this hotel is stuck in the past. We checked out and were willing to lose the cost of one night in order to make sure our trip was not ruined by this hotel. We got lucky and found an incredible boutique hotel that was available and not even much more money.

Good Hotel on river Arno !

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Good Hotel on the River Arno. We enjoyed a room with river view comprising the Piazza de Michelangelo just opposite the River. THere is a top floor with Swimming pool (rather small) but it was not yet available for guests. The view from the terrasse is stunning and you see the Dome, the Campanile and the Santa Cruz Church ! Our room was small and well maintained. Breakfast in the form of a buffet offered what one can expect. Service and personel is friendly.
