Reviews for Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa

Pleasant with problems

Hotel checkin was quick, the valet attendants were very friendly and attentive. Arrived in time for our spa but when we came to check in they had scheduled us for the wrong day. And of course, no options as the spa was empty and they indicated several employees had called in sick. They offered us to use the spa services. This was fine so we attempted to use the steam room, sauna, and coed pool, but there were no chairs in the pool room so nowhere to plane your towels and unlike many spas there was no food/beverage service and the appearance was clean which is nice but it was not cozy more sterile with hard surfaces. So after the spa. We went in to the Tarpon room for lunch. Ordered lunch , the server was very nice but my order was incorrect and server assumed I would be okay with the wrong order from fish tacos to shrimp tacos, except I have a severe shellfish allergy. Explored Sanibel, the beaches were beautiful. Came back to enjoy a dinner cruise which was terrific. Food and service above expectations. Captains Bar, again another error from the staff on our food order. Again the server expected that I would be okay with it but I was not. My husband ate his meal while I waited for 20 minutes for my meal. We were not offered water and our glasses were empty and the server had been to our table twice and did not ask if we wanted another so we chose not to order more. They did comp my meal but we noticed they increased the price of my wine from $16.50 to $25. We paid our bill but felt the service needs additional training. Overall, we would come back. However, the hotel staff need better training on hospitality. We understood they were just back open since Fall of 2023, but good service is an easy fix by good training and management which this hotel lacks.

Expensive for a NOT peaceful resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

THIS IS NOT A PEACEFUL RESORT TO WATCH THE SUNSET FROM YOUR VERY EXPENSIVE WATERFRONT VIEW!!! I FEEL LIKE I AM IN A GIANT CITY WHAT WITH THE LOUD PROM NIGHT MUSIC AND THE LOUD PEOPLE ON THEIR BALCONY !!!! I’m asking for compensation for this expensive room. We will see. I came across the country to enjoy a peaceful time in Florida including two nights in Fort Meyers. So far Cocoa Beach is best for peaceful including key largo, key west and this place. Now I know why I don’t frequent Marriotts! The music and noise ruined my whole evening I’d been looking forward to for a long time. It’s now 9:30 and I had to shut the nice large sliding glass doors because of the noise. I had hoped to sleep with them open to hear the gentle breeze and water lapping softly on the shore. BUT NOT GOING TO HAPPEN AT THE SANIBEL MARRIOTT! The drums are vibrating in my room even with the sliding doors shut.

Just okay

- It was a nice time of year to stay because it was not crazy busy. Checking was pleasant. We were offered to be moved from Captiva Tower over to Sanibel Tower (where all the restaurants, 2 pools, and activities are at), but we select Captiva Tower because it was quieter. This proved correct, although if staying Mon-Fri there is the causeway bridge construction which is noisy. Fortunately, being a weekend, this didn’t affect us. The pool was perfect for relaxing without a ton of activity. - The corner suite was clean and spacious. We understood that this was the “new” one, however it seemed like some of the furniture was switched with older. The desk was missing the chair and was beat up as well as some the dresser drawers would not close - disappointing for a Marriott. I didn’t complain because I didn’t use it. But we had to ask for several other items that were supposed to be there. We wished for some additional places to hang towels or wet swimsuits, but they are into the “minimalist” approach for decorating. - The food at Tarpon House was excellent. We also liked the buffet breakfast. - For those used to Marriott vacations, you know about the daily resort and parking fees, but they do add up. I’m not so sure I would return here as I think there are better choices for that kind of $$$$.

Perfect little get away!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The Marriot Sanibel harbor resort was perfect in every way! The front desk Staff were attentive and professional and went out of their way to make our stay perfect! There are two towers, the main tower (sanibel) and the Captiva Tower. We loved the quiet of the Captiva Tower and did not mind the quick shuttle to the main tower. Our view of the harbor was amazing and the room was very clean and spacious. There was a lobby that was empty everyday so you could sit and enjoy the view and quiet. There are two pools at the main hotel. We preferred the smaller pool to the left when you are looking at the bay. We were easily able to get chairs and the vibe was chill. It was easy to get a drink served or anything you wanted. Staff were wonderful! Overall, our stay exceeded our expectations!
