About the Hotel

Inverlochy Castle is magnificent in style, stature and setting, while still giving their guests an at-home feeling with a modest size of just 17 charming bedrooms. Built in 1863 by the first Lord Abinger, this exquisite country house hotel sits in the foothills of the mighty Ben Nevis, surrounded by the glens and lochs of Scotland's West Highlands. While staying here, you might retire to an aptly named Queen's or Prince's Suite, or enjoy a meal in one of three exquisite dining rooms whose elaborate furnishings were presented by the King or Norway.

Treated like a princess

Having the opportunity to spend a few nights in a castle and on it’s grounds is a special treat! The treatment we received just could not be beat! Our room was generous in size and well appointed. There is no lift, but hotel staff took care of our luggage, which was laden with some whisky purchases. Dinner, afternoon high tea, and breakfast were all wonderful. The staff could not have been more accommodating, or welcoming, truly top notch! I was unwell, and they went out of their way to provide bland meals for me. Due to illness, we opted to spend another night in residence, rather than 3 hours in the car. While another guest was booked for our room, we were accommodated and relocated to the Walled Garden room, which was also lovely. The castle is located a bit out of town, so a car is needed or taxi to reach Fort William. The Ben Nevis distillery was worth a visit, per the whisky drinkers in our party. Oban and it’s distilleries lies to the south, and makes for a nice afternoon. Overall a special place. Thank you, Inverlochy Castle team for a fantastic stay! Only suggestion for improvement would be puffier pillows…ours went flat pretty quickly.

Charming and Special!

Great room…. on top floor (Ben Nevis). Very comfortable with two full bathrooms. Bed was really comfortable. Could use a larger dresser with bigger drawers. Dinner was wonderful experience and delicious. Get a table by window to enjoy the view.. Very nice, hardworking staff. Truly a unique and special place.

Beautiful, fantastic food, rooms, and service.

The Inverlochy Castle Hotel is beautiful, and we had a wonderful one-night stay. The room, the Princes Suite, was huge and comfortable with the greatest bathroom. The tub was huge, the shower roomy, the floor was heated and there was a fireplace. The bedroom was enormous with lovely touches I appreciated. The tv was disguised as a mirror, there were two closets, and two luggage racks. This is super handy as there were two of us and oddly, not something we saw at any other hotel. The grounds were lovely and the staff as a rule couldn't have been nicer. We did not partake in the formal dinner, but instead ate from the bar menu, which was delicious, and William offered some great wine and whisky suggestions. Breakfast the next morning was fantastic too. The staff was very accommodating and helpful, except for one guy who was going to help with our luggage and when my husband said he preferred to carry his own bag made an offhand remark about his not being used to luxury that came across as a little snide. Whatever, we let it pass. I would recommend this hotel and would consider staying there again in the future.

Beautiful

Enchanting place. The room was beautiful, wonderful afternoon tea and the dinner was very good. Not the best restaurant I’ve been in Scotland, but very good. The hotel outdoors were very beautiful as well, not to mention the place’s history. The only thing is that in our last day of stay there was going to be a wedding. So the things became a little bit messy. But I gave it a 5 stars because besides that we had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful location - disappointed with the limited lounge menu

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I came for Sunday lunch in the lounge. The lounge was lovely but disappointingly the food was only OK - nothing to really write home about - unexceptional food from a very limited menu. There were just things like soup, sausage roll, toasted sandwich, burger, chips, etc, all at 5 star pricing. The staff members however were all without exception absolutely top notch, very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately I can't really recommend the lounge menu.
