Felt like a stay with Aunt Martha

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed July 5, 2019

We were looking for a local place to stay on the way home from Buffalo, and came across the White Inn. It looked like it had a long history, and was reasonable for a B&B. We'd never stayed at a B&B or a hotel this old. I really liked the high ceilings, old glass panes, old decor, and heavy, thick doors. The room made me feel as though I stepped back in time and brought a TV with me. The Inn was clean, front staff was able to help me get ice and was very friendly. The hotel also has some interesting history which added to the atmosphere. The only disappointment was that there was no longer a bar or restaurant. I know it probably is expensive to keep a restaurant going, but having the bar back would really have added to the experience, or even to have the front desk worker double as bar tender on slow nights.

Closed in foreclosure. Don't book, made reservations and got there to find papers on the door for foreclosure. Can't believe sites are still booking reservations. Had trouble getting refund. Local folk say it was closed all winter. So run down lawn not mowed. Looked like a ghost lived there.

The White Inn Ruined my graduation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed May 10, 2018

The white inn closed down for the winter months and left a sign outside of their doors saying they were to reopen on May 1st. My family and I made reservations a year and advance for 3 rooms so we wouldn't have to deal with the hassle. Since April 1st we have been trying to call about our reservation and even traveled to the hotel to alter it. BUT, there was no response. I finally got the owner's email off the website and decided to shoot her an email about what we needed alter. She let me know that the White Inn was not reopening for that time. WHEN WAS SOMEONE GOING TO TELL US? We were certainly unaware and in shock because now no other hotels are available in Fredonia to house our family. This was NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. AND, we haven't even received any sort of remorse or compensation.

Wonderful stay!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed November 8, 2017

My sisters and I came for the weekend and were delighted with the accommodations. The Inn has outstanding charm and atmosphere as well as wonderful service. Our hostess was most helpful, even driving us downtown after her shift because of the weather- you just don’t get that kind of service at a chain hotel! The rooms were clean and comfortable and we all felt very much at home. We’ll be back in the spring and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. :)

Saddened to see this place go down hill

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed August 4, 2017

I stayed 3 nights at this property and was so surprised to see the condition of the hotel. The carpet was stained and the bed linens were dated. the towels looked like they were 30 years old. The staff are all young kids and were doing their best to provide the service but just were not professional! I was the only guest in the hotel Monday and it took 20 minutes to check out on Tuesday morning and get a printed statement. I just can't imagine this property is still recognized in "The Great Inns of America". The restaurant will remained closed due to "restaurants within walking distance" -a statement from the owner/manager who lives out of state. She suggested that I "may be happier at a Chain Hotel" and that is exactly where I will be staying on my next trip to the area. This property was a delight in it's day but now I would not stay again.
