Wonderful hotel on Long Island!!

Beautiful hotel! Stayed for 3 nights. The lobby and valet staff are so helpful and friendly. They couldn’t do enough for us. Check-in was a breeze. The bar was outstanding but didn’t get a chance to eat there. We had a standard room which was fine for us. We wish it had a refrigerator but it did not. The room was very clean & comfortable. The only negative I would say and it’s minor with housekeeping, they want you to reuse the towels which is fine but we hung the towels up to use again, and they were taken away and not returned so we had to keep calling for new towels which is the opposite of they want because they are going green. I would stay here again if I come back to this area.

Hospitality done right

One night stay 04/22/24. All employees encountered at the property were exceptional. Front desk staff - excellent. The room was spotless. We had dinner at King’s Bar, food was very good, hostess, waitstaff and manager were fantastic. My advice to the owners/management is do not change anything!

The worst possible experience ever

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Well, first and foremost let me explain to you, that not only did I truly have the most not only insulting, yet completely discusting and quite honestly what I would call, well a version of the absolute worst level of consideration, respect, and such a ridiculously demesnin* experience that was so uncalled for during a tinethat was so hard and painful for me as if was, all I can say I, first off not only is The Garden City Hotel, well, let's just say it's starting to really show it's age and it's employees seem to think that they are sub human, or I what I could only explain as a sad god complex, which comes from them feeling theysork at a version of the Ritz Carlton, I assure this is something it not only is not. Yet it happens to be so distant to emulate anything resembling the Ritz, well gross would be the closest description of this supposed to be four of god help us five star property. Obvousky I have sn experience to tell you about, so I arrived at the hotel to check in on the afternoon and it was a terrible day for me. I had just lost my father and at the same time. I also was having tremendous problems with my credit card company. I only brought two credit cards with me from Florida to New York and one of them. Capital One was giving me a terrible time and that they were basically making me do every validation of the under the sun to prove that it was me. Frustrating enough there was one. I just was having a problem and I couldn’t really complete. I was having a very difficult time that was taking pictures of my drivers license. My phone was not cooperating with me and therefore I couldn’t do it properly I was sitting quietly in the corner of the lobby, literally my own business and other of word peep I mean forgive me, but that was pretty much. I did not look like a bond or anything like that and I’m sitting there and I would say about four times. I was approached and said I’m sorry, sir. Are you gonna be staying here with us? I said yes I am and I was on the phone anyway I remained there continuing my conversation with Capital One. That is security. Her name is Mr. Gaines, which was literally watching me and I can see him eyeing me nonstop as if I was doing something so very wrong . At this point, they finally decided to approach me very negative manner…… they finally approached me about 7 o’clock and it’s just after about three hours meet me on the telephone with Capital One, It was really very very frustrating for me and he said so if you’re not gonna get a room here, we would like to ask you please leave, I said are you kidding me? I said I’ve actually paid for my room online. I’m having a problem with my credit card on me I wanna make sure I’ve no problem when it comes to credit card and incidentals so please. Just give me a minute I implore you please, Mr. Gaines was so rude. I was so disgusted. He actually went outside Talk to the valet……. and “ and said get his bags and kick him out of here” at which point the valet did approach me, and said he said I had to grab your bags, and force off the premises….. this is the valet went out of his way to say to me. I want you to know I absolutely feel terrible. I’m so sorry I see that you’re going to hell with your company and also I see you’re going to allow your dad. I’m so sorry I really shamed the way you’re treating you and it’s sad. It’s not an all of what we supposed to be. You know I see you couldn’t pay me at the Garden City hotel, and quite frankly anybody who does I feel a fool

Gorgeous hotel with friendly staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The hotel was beautiful, has so much character, and the staff was very friendly. We booked one night as we were going to see a concert at the UBS Arena. It was very convenient to take the LIRR to the arena and back. (The train stop is directly across the street). It was our first time staying there and they were very nice to upgrade us to a bigger room. It was a very clean and spacious suite. We wished that we were able to stay more than one night! We will definitely book again. The only thing the hotel didn't offer was electric car charging stations. We were able to charge part way to the hotel and then again on the way back home so it worked out fine.
