It really is easy nowadays to be a great hotel. The Hotel d'Angleterre is really beyond perfect. I never expected such an experience. The service is courteous, the quality is outstanding and all these countless small details that this wonderful team is offering are unexpectedly unique. I will come back and I can truly recommend a stay at this hotel.

It was 4 days short -two years ago. I wanted to enjoy an afternoon tea, beautiful room and just relax. Well forget about it. The room was clean and that is why the two points. In the evening the meal arrived late luke warm and it was placed on the desk with a bang. The room was so noisy from the corridor that I was really scared somebody would walk in any minute. I didn‘t sleep a wink and left it at 5.45 and took the first train home. There were two men at the desk and were not one bit impressed about my complaints. I never heard from management even though I placed a written complaint. And here I am two years later still angry because I paid for this little adventure 490.— swiss francs and of course it was my birthday. Pfui, pfui, pfui!

This hotel is everything you imagine a 5* hotel would be. Their service is one of the best we have ever experienced. Everyone we met and dealt with at the hotel is extremely polite and helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. It is the little things that really sets the hotel apart from their competitors. On our last day, we checked out and left our luggage safely stored with the hotel while we went for our last walk around the city before leaving for the airport. When we mentioned we were going for a walk, we were offered and given two bottles of water to take with us, which was very thoughtful. I am not going to place long list and rate individual areas of the hotel as everything is at the highest quality. I work in the travel industry and I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel to our clients.

Geneva can be a cold and somber location, especially in Winter, so we much appreciated the warm greeting upon our arrival at the hotel. This hotel is quite expensive, and usually out of our range but we booked it in emergency – a long story. Let’s just say it would be easy to get used to luxury like this. The hotel is most conveniently located on the banks of Lake Geneva, within a comfortable walking distance (about 1 mile, 1.6km) from the train station, and also within walking distance of the bus station. We enjoyed the somber elegant décor, and heavy furniture in the room, where fruit and chocolate awaited us. The hotel's restaurant, facing Lake Geneva is excellent (but not cheap) although not overwhelmed by the view of the Jet d'eau. We can appreciate that the younger generation might prefer more modern boutique hotels but ror us this was a rare treat; the discreet service, cleanliness and understated sophistication was memorable indeed.
