Great Birthday Staycation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 9 hours ago

We had a fabulous experience in our 2-nights stay. Perfect view of the ocean and ferris wheel, cool breeze at the balcony and serene moment watching the sun sets in the horizon. We also enjoyed the pool, spa & sauna. Had great dinner at their restaurant - don’t miss the seafood tower. Woke up to a buffet breakfast over-looking the beach. You won’t feel guilty as you can surely enjoy a morning walk at the seaside after. Close to arcade beachouse too and won’t feel hungry as food shops are literally everywhere. Staff are friendly especially Kristine at the reception, she will look after you well, very friendly, patient and accommodating. She’s definitely a keeper. It was my husband’s birthday and they went beyond surprising us with chocolates and birthday card. Great experience we had indeed!

The perfect stay

We have just returned from a 4 night stay here, this was pretty much the perfect hotel! The view from the ocean view room on the 10th floor was amzing, overlooking the Jetty and the Ferris wheel. Sunset's were a real treat. You couldn't want a better location, with restaurants and cafe's nearby and the Tram stop at the door. The room was spacious, and the bed very comfortable, no complaints at all. We enjoyed the heated spa on level 2 on our last night, I'm sure the pool would be fantastic in summer too! It's such a rare treat to stay at a hotel that not only meets, but exceeds all your expectations, I couldn't fault this one at all!

Stamford Grand Glenelg review

My wife and I stayed at the Stamford Grand Glenelg for 2 nights this week to celebrate our 54 th wedding anniversary. When the staff heard about our special occasion we were treated like VIP’s. It was amazing. We will always remember our wonderful time at the Grand. Beautiful sea views from our balcony room, great food at the Promenade restaurant and brilliant service from the professional staff. A huge thank you to all the who looked after us. Hotel great, but rooms looking a little tired.

We love staying at this hotel on the beach at Glenelg. We have stayed here several times and have always enjoyed our holiday. But over the years we have noticed that the maintenance on the rooms has fallen behind. They are due for renovation, improvement, and modernisation. On our most recent stay we had to call the maintenance man as soon as we arrived because the ranch slider to the balcony wouldn't open. The rollers were apparently worn out, just an example of age catching up with the place. The water pressure in the shower was disappointing, again something that should be addressed. The fridge would not get to a low enough temperature, and the two seats in the room outdated and heavy, making it difficult to drag out onto the balcony. The aircon was unreliable and faulty. It's time for an overhaul of this iconic hotel. On the plus side there are many wonderful features. The staff are great, especially the concierges, who will bend over backwards to help with any problem. The location is hard to beat. Right on the beach, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the tram to take you into Adelaide CBD. The restaurant churns out delicious food, and the place generally hums. The views from the oceanfront rooms are to die for. It is hard to find fault with this hotel, as we love it, but it does need some TLC!
