Stamford Grand Adelaide in Glenelg, Australia

Though South Australia may be revered for its temperate climes, savory fare and fine wine, its capital of Adelaide, surrounded by verdant parklands and the slopes of the Mount Lofty Ranges, is even more celebrated as one of the most refined cities on the continent. In this lovely resort town you'll enjoy a relaxing break by the sea at Stamford Grand Adelaide, a superb beachfront landmark that offers elegant accommodations, authentic regional cuisine, a heated outdoor pool and spa, and panoramic views of the coastline and the majestic Adelaide Hills.

You'll be gloriously entertained in Australia's young and vibrant "Festival Capital," which annually hosts several gala events. Start at a leisurely pace with bicycling, sailing, nearby golf and tennis, or fishing off the jetty that fronts the hotel. See the city from a gondola ride along the River Torrens, browse the colorful shops of Central Market, and set aside a day to tour the area's premier vineyards in McClaren Vale, Coonawarra, and Barossa Valley. South of the city, explore Kangaroo Island and its permanent sea lion colony or travel north to the Flinders Ranges region, an area of rugged beauty that borders the outback.

Good location close to many restaurants and shops. The food in the bar was delicious and well priced. My daughter enjoyed the playground and beach being so close by. As it was school holidays there were also plenty of activities happening out in the square. Hotel room was nice and big. The TV was a bit tricky to navigate but once you got the hang of it it was fine.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed having a wine and watching the sunset from this bar. There was a great singer/muso combination playing great easy listening music. Food and drink was very affordable. The main windows were open letting the cool sea air in, it was very special - thanks Team.

Get a room with a balcony and beach view. Grab a a cocktail and a seat in the front windows of the bar with the beach breeze blowing in. Balcony room should have had chairs and table on it. Need more people on front desk during busy times. Friendly staff.

The dear old stamford is starting to show her age these days, but the location is still fantastic. Don't bother with the overpriced breakfast buffet, go 20m up jetty rd to the excellent cafes there.Parking is also rather overpriced at 25 bucks a day.

Visiting a grand hotel by the sea in January 2018 seemed like a lovely idea; but we walked away after having lunch on a Saturday feeling very disappointed! Firstly I ordered a beer that was clearly labelled $7:50 ( Fifty Lashes) but was I charged $9. When I said it’s the lower price the lady bar attendant said, no that was the week day price. I replied you cannot advertise a price, especially on the tap itself, and then charge a higher price, it’s against consumer laws. Then I demanded a refund. Luckily as I was getting a refund, the bar supervisor came by and said that the advertised price was correct. After the mix up with the drinks we waited for Flathead fish and chips and a Marinara pizza. Both meals cost $24 each. The measles arrived and were small servings in comparison to our previous similar meal orders at other restaurants. The flathead fillets were about 4mm thick, with batter. The chips were large but like warm, and the mayonnaise sauce had been spilled over a part of the salad. I can honestly say I can get better and bigger cooked fish and chips for $7:90 at the Berkeley Fish Market in Wollongong! My wife’s pizza had a thick base and the seafood topping was cold. The was about the size of a Domino’s $5 value pizza. For a well named brand hotel in a nice location, the meals were a great disappointment.
