Attended a wedding at Old Bahama Bay and everything was lovely. The area where the wedding was held was very pretty and the staff did an amazing job. We stayed that evening and our room was nice and comfortable with a great view. Breakfast the next morning was good also. Overall a great weekend!

The buildings are old and not given regular maintenance. Our toilet flush rubber flap was torn where the chain connected. (a 10 dollar part) instead the chain was hacked over the side of the flap so it wouldnt operate properly. I had to reach into the reservoir bowl every time and replace the flap then pull it up after the bowl filled to flush the toilet. The washing machine in the apartment was leaking water all over when used. Multiple lightbulbs were burned out. Tiles in the shower were loose with little to no grout. All of these are very small fixes that a little TLC could correct. Outside some of the building stucco had fallen off. It was not cleaned up the entire time we were there. There was a drywall construction platform left out the back of the villa, not stored at all. Out the front was a 50 tooth 12" mitre saw blade by the front door and numerous pieces of drywall lying up against walls.

Old Bahama Bay has so many awesome amenities like a 1st class restaurant on site as well as a tiki bar, huge pool, big deep water marina, weight room, gift shop and the beach right behind your room just to name a few. The fishing and diving offered onsite is spectacular. If you want the beach to yourself then come between September and December. If you're looking for more of a crowd then spring and summer is the time for you. It's about a 1 1/2 hour boat ride from Florida and a big bonus is they have a private landing strip 5 minutes from the resort. If you come once you'll be back for sure

The manager of this hotel Jackie, is a lovely lady but she is badly let down by her staff. We arrived on a Friday. The resort was almost devoid of guests as most had cancelled due to Hurricane Harvey's arrival in Houston and dreadful weather impacting Florida. On Friday morning we ventured to the pool. We asked for pool towels: after the pool attendant managed to drag herself away from her cellphone, she ambled over to her hut, briefly looked around and declared " there are no towels" returned to her cellphone and declared " call housekeeping or go to front desk". So, I go back to our room, call housekeeping and the call rings out, three times. I give up, go to front desk, ( won't bother you with the details ) and no towels there either. Dawn, on front desk, calls manager, then calls pool attendant. Conclusion: no pool towels. I give up, go to room, collect room towels and go to pool. 30 mins later, still no pool towels. I know what you are thinking ...must be lots of guests. No, we were the only guests at the pool. Eventually, Jackie, the Manager arrives at the pool and provides us with two room towels. She is professional and apologetic. 2 hours later, still no pool towels!!! Well, we could tell that Jackie was not on duty on Saturday at noon as 9 members of staff were partying at the Tiki Bar at full volume. The party continued despite our ordering lunch and eating there. Some of the conversations were not at all appropriate for guests to hear. Our hotel room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom's shower had a soap tray hanging off the wall. Housekeeping did not answer the phone. Ever! There is a restaurant on site. The Dockside Bar and Grill. The food was tasty ( additional review) and the staff are very helpful. We ate breakfast twice, lunch once and dinner once there and were very happy. We appreciate that a hurricane swept through Grand Bahama this past October. Numerous homes nearby have tarps on the roof or no roof at all. We understand that we are privileged and lucky. However, the fees we paid for our stay do not reflect the service provided or quality expected at a resort that states it offers " charm and luxury". We thank Jackie for her help. We would not return here. If the service is this bad with almost zero guests, imagine how it is usually.

We left Stuart on Wednesday morning and arrived at OBB around 12:00 due to rough seas but well worth it! The hotel staff and marina staff are very accommodating and professional. Jackie Carroll the hotel manager is outstanding! The tiki bar has great food including the conch salad and fresh grouper. Ask for Erika or Malik. Also, make sure you try a "Gully Was" from Eddie pool side. It's a great place and reasonable for what it offers.
