I rarely feel the need to post reviews but just had to. We are staying at the Ritz (which over charges for everything) but the limit was when we asked for a few bowls and plates in the room (so the kids can snack inbetween meals as kids often do) and was told that there is a $25 delivery fee to deliver those to the room. Thought I'd heard it all before, but really the Ritz is setting a new low on ridiculous hotel staff behaviour.

Second visit this year; eighth visit in the last seven years. We came in for a long weekend in mid-July after visiting during Cayman Coookout in January. In July (supposedly 'slower season') the resort was about the busiest we have ever experienced in our many visits here (it seemed like there may have been a couple of weddings at the property that weekend). Even so, we had a fantastic and relaxing 3 nights. Special staff shoutouts for this trip: Brendan, the Somm at Seven is fantastic as always, Oscar at the beach is super hard-working and has the best positive attitude, and all of the staff at the Cupboard shop! Can't wait to return.

We had two rooms for us and our teenage children. They had a bed and a sofa bed and when we asked for a room with two beds we were told there were none available unless we wanted to upgrade for 300 dollars per night! Felt this was unacceptable and suddenly a room with two beds became available, 2 doors down! A little strange I thought and started to get a sense it was all about how much money could be extracted from us. We made it to the beach which is via another part of the hotel (not the beach front we had thought) to arrive at a seen similar to the M25 on a Friday night! Every available space was occupied with rows of sun lounges with their own individual canopies making them look more like prams\push chairs. We elected to spend the 300 dollars on a private cabana and were again surprised by the lack of service nobody showed up even to say hello for 45 minutes! I'm still angry that I felt obliged to leave a tip with such poor service. The restaurants are very over priced and the buffet and breakfast is 48 dollars per person! We have stayed a many luxury hotels spent a fortune and come away very happy, this is not one of those occasions it feels more like an exercise in how much money can be extracted from you with as little investment as possible. Don't get me wrong some of the staff were very nice but the efforts were pulled down by others and the hotels wider philosophy. The words of master of the house from Les Misérables could of been the background music. I shall no await the traditional cut and paste response.

The Ritz Carlton Grand Cayman is an extranatory hotel. The service at the property was outstanding, and the guest relations team went above and beyond to make every detail special. We would like to personally thank Kapil, Marc and Cora for making our trip to the Cyaman's feel like our beach house away from home. The property is absolutely amaizing, and the staff make you not want to leave the grounds.
