Reviews for Amway Grand Plaza
I often stay at the Amway Grand when in Grand Rapids. Love the old architecture and feel of the rooms, while all the amenities are up to date and modern. Also love being so close to everything going on in downtown Grand Rapids.
Since moving to the lake shore, we have made the Amway our "home in the city" when we go to Grand Rapids for overnight events (weddings, Laugh Fest, Art Prize, etc.) and every stay so far has been outstanding. From pulling up for valet parking to pleasant check in, to sleeping in a quiet, comfortable room, to shopping and dining, this hotel really provides a wonderful place to stay in GR. We always look forward to our next visit when checking out.

I was in town on business in March and stayed here for 4 nights. I checked in early with no issues. My room was in the Pantlind wing. It was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself has many dining options, including Starbucks, Ruth's Chris and Wolfgang Puck. I would have given the hotel 5 stars but for 2 things: the circle drive was ill-managed. Valet did not keep a lane clear for Uber or taxis picking up/dropping off. When I addressed the issue with the valet, he responded in a less than professional manner. My major issue occurred the last night of my stay. I came back from my meetings Thursday to find the hotel jam-packed with hundreds of teenagers. The wait for the elevators for some of my colleagues was up to an hour. Not acceptable. Also, this was the most poorly behaved group of teenagers I have ever encountered. My room was surrounded on all sides by this group. It sounded like there was at least 4 to a room through the paper-thin walls. The kids were loud, banging on the walls, screaming in the halls--it was awful. When security was sent up, if they were at all--I didn't hear them, they just got louder. I finally went down and insisted on another room. I was moved to a different tower but still next to teenagers! This group was not quite as loud but I could hear every "yeah, bro" until at least 1 in the morning. I stayed in Grand Rapids one more night but switched to a different hotel. Because of this experience, I would not stay at this hotel again. They really could have done a better job of booking all those kids into one tower, away from business travelers.

This was a beautiful hotel with all the amenities you need. I am not familiar with the downtown Grand Rapids area at all and was not looking to venture out by myself at night, so it was nice to have access to multiple restaurants from inside the hotel.

for the first time I have been staying at AMRAY and it has been a very good experience; the room is spacious and comfortable; good I-net connection; gorgeous lobby and ground floor; very clean overall and staff very helpful
