L'Andana in Grosseto, Tuscany, Italy

In the bucolic heart of South Tuscany, where the scent off the aromatic olive groves meets the briny fragrance of the Mediterranean Sea, sits L'Andana hotel, a picturesque estate lovingly restored and presented by the celebrated Alain Ducasse Group in conjunction with the architectural masterminds of the Terra Morretti Group. L'Andana sits atop the rolling hills of the countryside as a living tribute to the region's past. Set in a building that was once a summer estate of Grand Duke Leopold II and his court, the 33-room estate graciously embraces the past in design and detail, while offering contemporary facilities and amenities. Awash in romantic reds and tantalizing tans and golds, the rooms and suites of L'Andana welcome visitors with a hint of summer no matter what the season. Alternating textures of smooth leather, soft velvet, and strong wood create subtle nuances of emotion that combine to produce a romantic getaway in each intimate living space. All rooms offer views of the countryside, luxurious Florentine silk fabrics, and delightful stone fireplaces built in the traditional Tuscan style. Modern touches along the grounds, like the hauntingly romantic wrought-iron and glass Winter Garden permeate the traditional landscape, creating an intense visual experience that is both sensual and elegant.

An informal, home-style kitchen leads into an intimate dining room with its own cozy fireplace, and views of the park, while the aromas of bountiful breakfasts, lavish lunches, and delectable dinners spread through the grounds. During summer months, a mouthwatering weekly barbecue awaits guests in the estate's garden, and during cooler months, La Villa, the on-site restaurant welcomes guests to sample regional fare. Trattoria Toscana, a nearby eatery is also available to L'Andana hotel guests. When it comes to dessert, order in, or literally indulge in it at ESPA, the hotel's on-site spa. At ESPA, each spa program is centered around a cake, mousse, tea, or herbal infusion, creating a truly delicious and rejuvenating wellness experience. When the time comes for some outdoor activity, guests of L'Andana enjoy unlimited access to the hotel's practice golf course, or experienced golfers may venture out to nearby full-course greens such as Golf Club Toscana, while beginners enjoy personal instruction back at the hotel, or simply take in the sites of Tuscany, you will not be disappointed. Surround yourself with beauty, culture, and romance at L'Andana, where every moment is delicious.

My husband myself and our young daughter visited L'Andana as part of a larger trip; it really is a magical place, one of its kind. This is a spot of luxury - and comes with the concomitant price tag. The bedrooms were sumptuous and incredible; the kind that you don't want to leave. You really are transported into a world of your own. The local vineyards and winery are also well worth a visit if you can wangle it. ( we did it via the PR as my husband wrote about the trip ). A honeymoon befits this gem of a hideaway. It's not a kiddie place in that it's not really geared towards people who have kids that run wild and take over - bit if you're keen to educate your sprogs on the finery of life and want them to get some use out of their good manners - take them. I am sure there is horse riding or other local pursuits if you're after them doing something active. The spa is gorgeous. A one off, forever memorable trip.

On our fourth visit to the property, so nice to return to this corner of paradise. Whether at the wonderful spa or lounging by the pool, everything as professional and personable as always! If one is looking for adventure farther afield, grab one of the new bikes and ride along the scorching hot paths through the vineyards to Le Mortelle vineyard - a small lunch and a bottle of cold Vivia - it really doesn't get any better... Grazie to Sr. Ortogni and his team, wonderful as always!!

Magnificant estate with superfriendly staff and nice (one star) Michelin restaurant We had a standard room for 550 €/night, which was ok value for money. Unfortunately our room was above the kitchen, so we woke up due to the noice of the kitchen. Not an issue for us, as we wanted to get up early anyway. Facilities in the hotel are ok, with a properly equiped gym and right-sized pool (about 15*6 m (?)). Plenty of place to sit somewhere around the house to enjoy the view (in the shade).

Hard to imagine that one would be coming back eagerly to a hotel, which is 20-30 min from the nice beaches and seafront hotels. Nevertheless this is a remarkable 5star hotel in the country and it is worth coming back for the stay or at least for a dinner and evening walk within the blooming gardens of summer.

There are no words to describe how amazing this hotel is... by far our stay in this very exclusive hotel was perfect from every aspect. The property itself is out of this world. Very well kept and just perfect (I know I am using the word perfect too many time, but I cannot find a better description). We arrived after a couple of ours drive from Rome in the early evening and the hotel has a private entrance. We rang the reception and simply told them that we were checking in. So they opened the gate and we drove on a narrow dirt road surrounded by amazing pine trees not shorter that 1Km arriving in the parking lot were we were greeted by name by two bell guys who are extremely well trained. At the reception we were checked in very quickly and showed to our room which was so spacious for any hotel in Europe, so clean and with every amenity you can think of. Breakfast is superb. The swimming pool is very nice. Every thing was great. But, the most important aspect that made this perfect are the staff, all of them. I just cannot say any more other than this is a must stay in property.
