Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg, Germany
Perched on the banks of the Inner Alster Lake in the urban heart of Hamburg, it would appear the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten has always been the regal resort it is today. It actually started as a small house purchased in 1897 by Friedrich Haerlin, who over the years added a gala reception hall – now the Wohnhalle tea room – the Art Deco Jahreszeiten restaurant, and a namesake restaurant that today garners two Michelin stars. The property was renovated and air conditioned in 2009, and rooms retain touches of individuality in their rich traditional décor.
Walk along the Hamburg Promenade, glimpsing the Landungsbrücken, or floating docks. Discover a hidden seafood restaurant and sample one of the city’s famous fish rolls. Take a ferry to view the city from an aquatic viewpoint. Return to the hotel for a Doc Cheng’s Lemon cocktail – lime, Cointreau and passion fruit juice – in a Shanghai-themed bar. Dine on refined Mediterranean-French fusion cuisine at one of Germany’s most lauded restaurants.

Reviews for Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten
I had stayed a long time ago at this famous hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly as if I was there recently. The newly renovated suites were superb. Luxurious bed, linens, bathroom amenities. Breakfast delicious, efficient, enormous choice. Supper after a concert was superb in the hotel’s Japanese restaurant. I cannot wait to return!

Please understand that part of my review is colored by the fact that we were given an upgrade to a suite and received a free night as part of a credit card promotion. But with that understood, I would have the same overall great feeling about this hotel if we had been in a standard room. We were in Hamburg for a vacation and chose this hotel for its location, prices and previous reviews. It is located facing the Inner Alster Lake shore and is convenient to most of the things we were in Hamburg to see (e.g., Elbephilharmonie, Minature Wonderland, etc.) Reception was very friendly and efficient and we were escorted to our suite facing the lake. The hotel itself is a wonderful example of period architecture that has been tastefully updated with modern conveniences such as fast wifi, large and modern bathrooms, efficient a/c (this sounds crazy, but some of the best historical hotels in Europe still lack air conditioning) and yet it still retains nice touches such as the old style elevators. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful and could not find a reason to say no (unlike some large international city chain hotels that we stayed at in Berlin and Prague which were hesitant to even make change for large denomination notes) for not much more money. Their English was perfect, although my attempts at amateur German probably caused some confusion. Our room was quiet and very comfortable with a great bed; large and modern bathroom (actually 1 1/2 since this was a suite) and amenities that I have never seen before anywhere (e.g., stationery box with highlighters, stapler, etc.). We ate at two of the restaurants which had the same high level of quality and service which you would expect from this establishment. The only negative I had about our stay was the breakfast, which was very nice, but I had misinterpreted that it was not included (staying at multiple hotels throws you off) and found out that it was approx. 39 Euros pp which is a tad high even for this level of property. But Starbucks is 1/2 block away. Housekeeping was efficient and the hotel itself felt it had been looked after with care. To sum it up, we did not want to leave the hotel while we were there and were even more reluctant to leave after our 4 days was up. One of the best in Europe, located in a very enjoyable city which is probably not on many Americans' radar. Does everything well with professionalism and class, yet is not stuffy. Definitely would return.

First time in many years in Hamburg. Hotel is in a great location. Wonderful ambience with very professional, friendly staff that make the stay that much more enjoyable. Dining in was a great experience and suggest don't miss the high tea room where the service is impeccable to match the surroundings.

This place is simply magnificent. The room is superb. The restaurants are probably the best in Hamburg. The spa is top 10 in Germany for sure. The service is fantastic. The bar is not to miss. Breakfast is simply superb. If you can afford this don't even think about it. location is the best in town right on the riverlake.
