Hyatt Hana Maui Resort: Stay away if you want a clean room

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 23 hours ago

Our stay was on August 26, 2025, in Ocean View Bungalow 208. The grounds of the resort are undeniably beautiful, and the ocean view from the bungalow was breathtaking. Unfortunately, the condition of the bungalow and the overall upkeep of the resort fell far short of what I expected from Hyatt — especially from a property designated as Category 7. The most troubling concern was the widespread presence of mold. Mold was visible on grout, mirror frames, wooden trim, and even on soap dispensers labeled “sanitized.” The bungalow carried a persistent moldy odor, which triggered nasal congestion during my stay. This was especially distressing as I was traveling with my 11-month-old baby, for whom a clean and healthy environment is essential. Other issues included: A flickering lamp, raising concerns about electrical safety. Fixtures, lamps, and furniture that were rusty, dusty, or worn. Bathroom tiles that were chipped and stained. Furnishings and finishes that made the room feel as if it had been left unoccupied for years. Most disturbingly, I was welcomed by a pubic hair on the tissue box, which clearly demonstrates a complete failure in housekeeping standards. At times, it felt less like a stay at a Hyatt resort and more like staying in one of those rundown highway motels — an impression I never expected to have at a Category 7 property. People generally have certain expectations for a Hyatt Category 7 property: luxury, meticulous cleanliness, and attention to detail that reflect Hyatt’s most premium standards. Unfortunately, my experience at the Hana Resort — even in a paid Ocean View Bungalow upgrade — did not come close to meeting those expectations. This was especially disappointing because I am a loyal Hyatt guest. In just the past week I stayed at Park Hyatt Seoul, Grand Hyatt Incheon, and Andaz Maui, and I will soon continue on to Hyatt Vacation Club Maui and possibly Hyatt Regency Maui. I would not have chosen Hana Resort were it not part of the Hyatt family, whose brand I trust.

2 Days in Hana

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

The staff is very friendly. The grounds were so beautiful. We loved walking around the resort. The food trucks are within walking distance and had the best coffee. The room needs updating but it was spotless clean. Our room could have used black out curtains but it was the perfect level of cold at night. I was thankful for the cold AC while we slept. The pool is such a beautiful place to lay back and relax with the most incredible view ever. The gym was great and very clean as well. My advice, grab a drink and go watch sunset by the pool. It is gorgeous and a perfect way to end your day.

Our first time in Hana

Great location, amazing place, staff are very friendly but on the expensive side. Wellness Pool is amazing with a view. No jacuzzi though. Drinks are on the expensive side. We loved our stay. Recommend getting the bungalows.

Hyatt refuses to refund

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Hyatt refused to refund my deposit, when I was unable to get to the Hyatt Hana resort. After repeat calls to various personnel at resort and Hyatt guest escalation desk, no one would make a decision. Everyone sent me to another person. It was frustrating when I went full circle, and guest escalation desk said she would go back to hotel.

A Wonderful Anniversary Experience at the Hana Maui Resort by Hyatt!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The entire staff at breakfast was great! Since we had an extended stay, we meet and got to know many of the staff at the resort and restaurant. They were very sweet and made us feel like family. All the drivers were very helpful and had great tips on things to do in HANA. In the Art gallery we found extraordinary gifts that helped tremendously with making the visit to Hana and the resort memorable. We had an incredible Anniversary experience and the resort and staff made it possible.
