Choosing Wequasset Resort and Golf Club as our go-to destination on Cape Cod was as easy as picking the French Quarter Inn in Charleston or the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C., or the Brown Palace in Denver or the Drake in Chicago or the Plaza in New York City or the XV Beacon in Boston or the Greenbrier or the Broadmoor or the Cloister. Nestled on the elbow of Cape Cod, at 2173 Massachussets Highway 28 in Harwich, the Wequassett has won more awards than the New York Times. The AAA Four-Diamond hotel has been rated the No. 8 hotel in the United States, the No. 1 hotel on Cape Cod, the No. 13 top family resort, among the top 25 resorts in the United States and the No. 1 golf course in Massachusetts. With spectacular views of Pleasant Bay, Round Cove and the Atlantic Ocean, the Wequassett has 27 acres of gardens, marshes, woodlands and shoreline. It also has 120 guest rooms and suites, four restaurants, two swimming pools, two beaches, four tennis courts, boating and water sports and an 18-hole championship golf course. The Wequassett's signature restaurant, Twenty-Eight Atlantic, is the highest rated restaurant on Cape Cod. For our stay, we chose a Signature Junior Suite, 564 square feet of elegance with a king-size bed, connecting parlor, dual gas fireplaces, marble bathrooms, two flat screen TVs and a deck with a waterfront view. Wequassett is conveniently located, near Hyannis and Provincetown and the Cape Cod National Seashore. The hotel also is very committed to recycling, electrical energy conservation and water conservation. Savings is donated to charitable organizations that support preserving the local environment.

The property is beautiful, the bay location is breathtaking, it could easily be a four season or SLH resort, but our cabin was so dated. Amenities in the room were noisy. One of the AC's is controlled from the next room so it become freezing and you can do nothing about that. We booked a king size. We got a twin bed room. They said that the booking is only a requested preference. The service was excellent, and there are SO many good things about this hotel. The bay pool area and beach, the boats, the great restaurant, and the wonderful relaxing atmosphere, we love it all.

I stayed here for a week recently with colleagues for our annual company meetings. My first impressions upon arrival were very positive, without doubt the general staff are super friendly and helpful and the grounds around the resort are immaculate, along with great views, but that's where it ends for me. I feel for the price you pay (~$700 per/night) the quality and finish of the rooms fall short. The bed was comfy and clean, but the room just felt like it was trying too much to be something more than it was. The bath wasn't really a bath, but more of a shallow tub to stand in. The shower itself was weak and immovable, the window was broken and could only be left open, which meant anyone would have been able to see in and see me in the shower, luckily I was in a second floor room so less likely but even still, it wasn't great. The towels were hard and unpleasant and hung directly over the toilet, I had a number of near misses when trying to get a towel off the rail whilst wet and not trying to fall and pull the shower curtain down with it. The carpets were tired, and the use of slated doors instead of curtains just didn't work. The noise pollution from adjoining rooms was also quite surprising, I could often hear, very clearly, conversations of guests staying below me. The food from all 3 restaurants was excellent, but totally overpriced, and based on the cost of the rooms I was shocked to discover breakfast wasn't included. Service in 28 Atlantic and Thoreaus always attentive and good, but every time we ate as a group in the Beach front bar, the staff always gave the wrong plates to the wrong people. Overall, if we'd paid half the price per night, then I would have quite happily rated this 4 or 5 stars, as all the little problems were quite minor, but they're not the kind of things you would expect to have to fault when you're paying such high rates in a 5* resort.

Booked a Signature Water Room 8 months in advance & was assigned the worst room in this category (Cranberry building) Upon check-in, i walked the resort & realized they had given me a bad room, and asked to change ... they basically said tough luck Problem with the room/building is that it faces the marshy pond where boats are moored (not the Pleasant Bay view that you get at the restaurant) AND you are set back from the water with a lawn in front of you (so you cant see sunrise OR sunset) As disappointing at this was, i was prepared to let it go as an expensive lesson learned, however the problem began when 3 families arrived in the adjacent cottages with 9 children The families let the children loose & the lawn became their personal playground with full on screaming for hours at a time. I could not sit on my balcony peacefully OR leave the patio door open OR sit in the chairs on the lawn to enjoy I called the Manager 3 times and nothing changed!!! There wasnt even an apology at the end of my stay OR any recognition that they did provide a suitable vacation experience This was not acceptable ... especially at a cost of $1800/night (Labor Day weekend rate) To make matters worse, the hotel setup a family picnic on the lawn for this family 1 evening ... it was as if they wanted to make sure I was having a bad experience Absolutely not worth it !!! NEVER AGAIN !!! Then,

We've stayed in nice places before but the customer service here takes the cake. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Otis gave us a tour and made us feel welcome June I'm concierge was so helpful and kind. The housekeepers went way out of their way to meet any need and then some! Dona at the beach bar was so sweet and attentive. Even at our last breakfast Mervin was so attentive and went way above for us,he even got us a lunch for our trip home
