Upon check in, I didn’t notice much difference in rooms since the renovations. The brand new fire pits “weren't working” in October 🤔 The family pool is still the same as well. The adult pool is nice but we saw many families sending their kids to the family pool (unattended) to enjoy adult time. We have kids and don’t think this is appropriate. I felt like I was babysitting other kids at points. Our kids enjoyed the family pool and the designated time in the adult area (6-9pm); however, it’d be nice to have some family time in the updated pool area in the morning as well. We got married at this Sonesta 10 years ago and came here to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. I made note of this in the reservation. We were given the bottom of the barrel room with nothing included…no strawberries or bubbly as they used to do for our anniversary. With our loyalty status, a room upgrade is included with each stay. Really disappointing. (See picture of our view of roof from the room.) After mentioning to manager, we were told there are no other rooms available. I had a very hard time believing this since we’re visiting in off season of October. Also, there were no sheets/bedding for the sofa bed. I had to ask for something to be done for our anniversary 4 times and finally we got strawberries and very cheap bubbly on our last day. Sonesta is apparently not loyal to their long-term customers… we will be trying Omni or Westin next time! Also, fitness center was closed our entire trip, which is why we pay $40 for resort fee. Lastly, we used to have gold status and were told we’re silver status now which means no breakfast. Management said sometimes people are downgraded after using points. I have never heard of such a “loyalty” program in my life. We enjoyed the heated pool and quiet rooms but not enough to keep this as our #1 stay in hh.

Massive resort with plenty of dining amenities including pool side dining. Our room was fairly modern. We had a great experience. Our only issue was check-in. There was an issue with one of our rooms and the front desk staff was not helpful and didn't seem to care at all.

The amenities were great and me and my family loved the direct beach acess and 3 pools. Sonesta also gave you free beach chairs and a choice of 3 restraunts and a cafe and a gelato shop.

Every staff member we encountered, Kimar, Dahah, Keemo, Odane, Felicia and many more provided the best customer service with the most positive attitude. They truly felt like family by the end of our 6 night stay. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary with our two dogs, and felt like we were at a tropical resort. The adult pool was so relaxing we both found ourselves dosing off in the pool! The family pool was also great, we loved the poolside bingo every afternoon. It was obvious that the recreation manager took a lot of pride in her job, I’ve never seen someone work so hard. We did a bike ride to Coligny and it was an easy trip. We also did a sunset dolphin cruise through the Salty Dog, which I HIGHLY recommend. The hotel has been recently updated and was perfect, not one complaint, and I’m picky. To reference other reviews, I heard maybe two dogs barking the whole time and that was outside, I saw no dog poop on the sidewalks, and the pool bar and staff were amazing!! My only recommendation would be to have more vegetarian options on the late night menu. Already looking forward to another trip!!!

My wife and I had a very good time at the Sonesta Resort at Hilton head. Everybody was very polite and helpful. If you want to thank somebody at Sonesta it would be the lady at the Front desk who was so cooperative.
