Reviews for The Langham Hong Kong

Extremely dissapointed for Langham

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 21 hours ago

Customer service is excellent, on par with the Langham in Shanghai and London. However, the problem-solving skill of the manager on duty was not very appealing. I was initially assigned a room right next to the water pump at level 13, and I filed a complaint before the evening, as I know I am a light sleeper and will not be able to get much sleep with that water pump noise. They then transferred me to level 15 with the same issue (another water pump right next to the room)! From our conversation on the phone, the manager on duty knew exactly what happened, and this must not be the first time it has happened. If I have complained about the water pump issue, told you that I am a light sleeper, I would expect a resolution to at least minimise those; However, it was disappointment after disappointment. The EXTREMELY loud water pump noise woke me up a couple of times, and I had to ring the front desk again at half past twelve to express my frustration. I was then upgraded to a suite at level four, right next to a main street with very bad noise-cancelling windows! At that point in time, I was desperate to get some sleep and just dealt with it. What really caught me by surprise was the plumbing issue with the age and maintenance of the hotel. While I was using the toilet, there was toilet bubbling up in the toilet bowl, and it touched my skin! That was disgusting and unforgettable!!! It was a very short trip, and I have recently decided to stick to Langham instead of other international chains, but this experience with Langham Hong Kong was a total let-down and made me reconsider my decision.

Great memories

I once dreamed of staying here, as I used to work with a hotel in Thailand that carried this brand. When the day came that I could finally afford it, I did not hesitate, and it truly brought me joy. Unfortunately, I could only stay for one night before traveling to Hong Kong Island for a meeting. The hotel is located in a great area with very convenient access. Although the room itself is a bit dated, it has been very well maintained. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful experience during my time in Hong Kong.

Service is great but the rooms are dated

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Overall, the place was great but there were small “misses” here and there hence the 4 star rating. First the staff were great. They were kind and efficient. From the moment our bags were handled, to when checked-in, even the late night requests they were ready. However, the room itself showed signs of it being dated. The wooden floors had scratches, some furnishings looked worn, and the bathtub had stains that made us skip using it. I was also surprised there was no bidet or washlet, and the shower knobs made adjusting the water temperature tricky. There were also limits on the water bottles. Like we can only get 5 per day and the hotel doesn’t have any offerings of a self-service station, at least that we know of.

Enjoyable stay, great central location

Enjoyed our stay. The staff is friendly and helped me resolve an issue with the reservation that was my mistake. Thanks to the manager Eric Poon. The afternoon tea in the lobby was really great.
