The Kahala Hotel & Resort

A beautiful property made even more special by exceptional service We returned to The Kahala because of Carolyn Miyuki. That is not an exaggeration. We spent roughly $5,500 on our first stay and came back this year and spent approximately $6,000 more on property. The reason we chose to return was Carolyn. There is something to be said about an employee who can make you feel so genuinely welcomed, cared for, and remembered that you want to spend thousands of dollars at a property again simply because you know you’ll see her. The Kahala itself is beautiful. It has an old-school Hawaii charm that I actually love. The property is certainly showing its age in some areas, but I think that is part of what gives it its character. It is a luxury property, and where The Kahala really continues to shine is in its service and amenities. This particular stay wasn’t completely without issues. Our room did have a few things that could use attention. There was no in-room phone, which became particularly inconvenient when we needed assistance. Calls made from our personal phones seemed to receive less urgency—for example, we were told someone would be sent up, only to still be waiting 30 minutes later, at which point I ultimately had to go downstairs myself. The bidet in the room also wasn’t functioning, and the balcony had some noticeable rust. But here’s the thing: none of those issues defined our stay. The overwhelming majority of the staff we interacted with were wonderful. The pool staff in particular were great, with only a minor exception. From the moment we arrived, the service generally felt warm, attentive, and personal in a way that is becoming increasingly rare. And then there is Carolyn. Carolyn is attentive without being intrusive. She is kind in a way that feels completely genuine. She remembers you. She notices things. She makes you feel like you’re not just another reservation number or room number. To us, Carolyn isn’t simply an employee at The Kahala. She is a Kahala and Oahu staple. She IS the spirit of aloha. There are beautiful hotels everywhere. There are luxury properties everywhere. But the people who make you feel genuinely cared for are what make you return. We came back because of Carolyn, and after this stay, I can say that she once again reminded us exactly why. Please take care of this woman. She is an incredible representation of The Kahala and the kind of hospitality that makes a guest want to come back.

My fiancée and I have been returning to the Kahala Spa for many years, and with each visit, it becomes even more special to us. What began as a cherished tradition during our annual trips to the islands has grown into something deeply meaningful, especially this year as we planned to incorporate this beautiful hidden gem of Hawai‘i into so much of our wedding experience. For the past four years, we have had the pleasure of seeing Lala during our visits, and she has become an integral part of what makes our time here so memorable. Her warmth, attention to detail, and exceptional care create an experience that goes far beyond a typical spa visit. The Kahala Spa offers that rare combination of tranquility, refined service, genuine hospitality, and a sense of place that makes you feel truly cared for. It has become a special part of our story, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have created so many wonderful memories here over the years. If I could give more than five stars, I would do so without hesitation. The Kahala Spa is truly exceptional, and we look forward to returning for many years to come.

We stayed at The Kahala Resort in a one-bedroom suite with a king bed and a pull-out sofa bed. The suite was beautiful, spacious, clean and worked well for our family, but unfortunately, the pull-out bed was extremely uncomfortable. It was also very squeaky whenever you moved, which was especially difficult because my 9 month old was sleeping in a crib next to me and Every time I moved, I was worried the squeaking would wake him up! I also wish the pool were a little bigger, especially for a resort of this size. Other than those things, we really loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful and very clean, and you can tell they genuinely care about their guests and their experience. One of the coolest things about staying here is the dolphins! My kids absolutely loved being able to watch them, and it was such a fun and unique experience. The breakfast buffet was decent, but I do wish there were more food options for the $50 price per person. We chose The Kahala because we wanted a true resort feel while staying on Oahu, and it definitely delivered. Overall, it was a wonderful family stay, and we would happily come back!

Our recent stay at the Kahala Resort was nothing short of amazing. The attention to detail and level of attentiveness to each guest was truly amazing. From the start of our trip the staff at valet service were so kind and helpful s/o Gary, Wally (go bills), and others. The housecleaning staff were also excellent, each day our room was cleaned immaculately, as well as the turn-down service they offer; we felt like royalty every day. Thank you to the Kahala Hotel and staff, when time allows, we will definitely be returning.

Stayed in July and September 2026; both stays flawlessin spacious Oceanfront Suite. We live on Maui. We split our stays between Halekulani in Waikiki, and The Kahala. Love the balance and variety. Member of Leading Hotels of the World. Excellent breakfast buffets, weekend Seafood Buffets both times. Got a reservation at Alan Wong's! All meals, food and service, were excellent. Preston and Jock were great at Front Desk check-in and check-out. Justin Wentzell, Randy, Jesse great at Plumeria Beach House, and Rodel excellent at Alan Wong's. Can't wait to return!
