My husband and I just spent 5 nights here for our honeymoon after a couple of nights at Turtle Bay. We couldn't recommend it highly enough. 5 star service the entire time. Enough restaurants to eat at, a buffet breakfast, shuttle service into Waikiki, a gorgeous dolphin lagoon and much more. Staff were considerate and obliging. Nice to be away from the busyness of Waikiki. We will definitely be back! Thanks Kahala Resort.

I researched the hotel prior to booking this trip through a travel agent and ended up with a golf course view. I wanted a luxury hotel that was quiet, not crowded since I would be traveling with a toddler. The room and bathroom were spacious and very comfortable and the style of desk, size/location was perfect. The first two days were problematic. My luggage was delayed upon arrival but delivered to the hotel around midnight. However, neither the front desk nor the bellman called to inform me of such. While trapped in my room, I was surprised to hear the sound of construction above me (somehow I missed that the hotel is under renovation). As a result of the lack of communication from the staff, my luggage went undelivered until after 12pm. On day two, I ordered lunch (pepperoni pizza) for my daughter and received a pizza with a bread tie under the cheese and pepperoni. Definitely a quality control issue. However, the trip did improve greatly. The beach is beautiful, the waves are calm and perfect for little ones. Breakfast was consistently delicious. Room service was great (even at midnight). And the housekeeping staff of Jasmine and Belle provided impeccable service. My daughter enjoyed the large pool even in the rain. As well as, her wee dolphin encounter. However, while in the pool I noticed some unsafe tiles along the edges. Although, the resort has a small pool for little ones, the food menus only have children's meals for 6-12 yr olds. It would be nice to have a menu with smaller portions for those parents who are teaching our children not to be wasteful. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again but only after the renovation is complete.

We stayed at the Kahala resort for two weeks in a Dolphin Lanai room which overlooked the dolphin lagoon. The Kahala resort is about 8kms from Waikiki and provides a free shuttle bus departing the hotel at 9.30am through to 9.10pm stopping at Ala Moana shopping centre, Luxury Row and T Galleria in Waikiki and Kahala Mall. The hotel has direct access to a small, uncrowded beach with an average water temperature of 26 degrees. There is also a 26000 sq ft lagoon that is home to five dolphins that are very well cared for. While we were there a team from the University of Michigan conducted a program of scientific research on the dolphins which would be difficult to perform in the wild and adds to our knowledge about dolphins, however captive dolphins are becoming increasingly controversial. If dolphins could talk I think they would ask to stay in the lagoon. The room we were in was quite large with a spacious balcony overlooking the dolphin lagoon, there were two wash basins and a separate toilet. The large screen TV had execellent reception and the free wifi was reliable and of adequate speed. We relied on the shuttle, The Bus, and walking, to visit the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbour, climbing to the top of Diamond Head, hiking to Makapu'u Lighthouse, snorkelling at Hanauma Bay, circumnavigating the island by bus (for $2.50 each) and shopping in Waikiki and Honolulu also managed a swim at the crowded Waikiki Beach. The Kahala is in an upmarket area surrounded by beautiful homes and shares a boundary with the Waialae Country Club, a private golf club that hosts the Sony Open each year. A buffet breakfast was included in our hotel package and was served in the Plumeria Beach House with an uninterrupted view of the ocean. The breakfast staff were a delight and imparted much helpful local knowledge. Thanks Barbara, Lynne and Carol. There are several shops and five restaurants within the resort . We also enjoyed the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and Honolulu however it was good to return to the Kahala's tranquillity and uncrowded beach. A well-run resort which we highly recommend. I had an amazing time at this hotel and would definitely come back. The staff were very friendly and the room we had was very clean. As this hotel has a private beach it's always very quiet and calm which I loved. I am looking forward to coming back to this hotel next year!

We stayed at this resort for two nights (booked Standard View, Mountain View - King bed). Location is great (near Kahala Mall) away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. A short walk to the beach -- feels very private given the location of the hotel (not overcrowded like Waikiki). We received a cold towel and a lei upon at check-in, and there were complimentary snacks (cookies) in the room. The room itself was fairly spacious. There are a number of onsite dining options. We did not eat on the property, but Hoku's is excellent (based on prior experience). Hotel had some ongoing construction during our stay, which is not perfect. Didn't cause any issues, but you can certainly hear the construction noise as you walk around the property. Overall, it is a very nice hotel in a tranquil setting, with a beautiful beach. We would recommend to other and would definitely stay here again!
