Nowhere else but The Modern Honolulu can you find such a dynamic combination of laid-back beach life and cosmopolitan excitement. It’s two minutes from the beach – including prime surf spots where locals flock – and walking distance to downtown Honolulu’s galleries and luxury shopping scene. Explore Honolulu’s bars and street food (don’t miss the roadside shrimp trucks), but don’t stray far from the hotel – Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s fine dining concept constantly wins Hawaii’s top accolades, and at night, celeb DJs turn Addiction into a club straight out of South Beach.

Don’t waste your money here and stay somewhere else. My sister booked a Hilton Grand Vacation Trip and the hotel did not deliver the type of upgraded room they shared with her when initially booked. Instead of an upgraded room ocean front room we had a standard room with a view of the marina/harbor. When we went to the front desk we were literally told that the “marketing team isnt as transparent regarding booking as they should be”. The front desk stated that we would have to speak with someone on the marketing side to change the room type however they operated on EST. So they were closed at this time and we spoke with them the next morning. There was a different person at the front desk and she literally said “I wish you would just tell people if that they’re getting a standard room and not upgraded”. My sister has the marketing team on the phone so the they could hear each other. The marketing team states the front desk was the only one who could upgrade the room and the front desk stated it was the marketing team so needless to say we were stuck with the room. The carpet is old and stain, the bathroom is outdated and bed framing looks even older. Housekeeping will only come once this week since we’re in on the HGV Package. I’ve stayed in better Tru by Hilton and Home2Suites back home in North Carolina than this. I expected better quality from Hilton and I’m a Hilton girl as I travel regularly for work. This was a huge disappointment, to the point that how could I even trust what you’re saying at the Timeshare Presentation. Picture to come shortly.

We really liked this hotel; my personal fave was the adult only pool-like lounge area (picture) - lounging here with view of the sunset and palm trees was nice way to end our trip in Honolulu and a great place to do reading or eat a midday snack with friends or SO. The rooms are spacious and the view of pool, marina and the beach (which was nice). The bellhop staff was helpful bringing up and down our luggage. The outdoor restaurant had a good variety of food and drink options. I liked exploring Hilton Hawaiian village (blue water shrimp restaurant had good ahi tuna) and bus stop around the corner made it convenient to travel around the island. The shell necklace upon arrival was also nice and I wore it the entire time. I believe on Friday’s they do a fireworks show at 7pm which I didn’t get to enjoy but I’m sure is spectacular ! There is a coffee shop at venue nextdoor which you can access via the pool area. FYI for status members: Unlike other Hiltons in area, it being a Grand vacation they don’t honor late checkout for status members. But the venue was very nice u didn’t want to stay in room too long - it was fine with me.

Our room was a real dump. Stains on the lamp shade and carpet. Chipped tile and woodwork in the bathroom and in the general living space. I suspect it has been many years since this eyesore was last renovated. I can only imagine what CSI would find if they came into this place. It will take years of therapy and/or drinking to remove this bad memory.

Clean rooms, well maintained and in good shape. Location is at the very end of the Waikīkī area, which makes it a bit quieter but still accessible with a short walk (around 10/15 min to get to the real active area). Direct connectivity to the beach without going to the street via the pool area. Nice pool area with adjacent pool bar as well as an indoor restaurant. This is a family friendly hotel with plenty of kids splashing around in the pool, and the pool deck does get quite hot in the late afternoon. Services at this hotel are a bit no frills… no room service, valet (self park available), or spa. Room cleaning provided just once on our four night stay. Hotel was built circa 2010 as a Marriott EDITION and at some point changed to a HGV, at which time it seems a few of the extra services you’d expect of a 4 star hotel were reduced. Some of the common areas feel sparse / empty as a result. Note as an HGV you get no benefits as an HH member, no mobile check in / key, no room upgrades, no F&B credit. Overall design is modern minimalist, which was actually quite nice after a long day of the chaotic Waikīkī downtown area. Overall a great deal, would recommend.
